This book consisted of 40 different stories. Some stories were longer then others. There were definitely some good ones in this book. Some were more gory then others, some were very short and didn’t really make sense to me, but I really enjoyed the different mix of the stories.

Thank you, Brandon Wills, for the free ebook copy in exchange for my honest review.

I just finished this packed-to-the-gills horror collection, and let me tell you, there is literally something in here for everyone. There's psychological horror, creatures, demons, murderers, ghosts, and haunted podcasts (just to name a few). With some being as short as 1 page and others being 15-20ish pages, this was an easy read due to the ever-changing variety.

I personally did not like the writing style of a lot of them; they seemed like an informal first-person journal entry to me. My personal dislike for that style didn't lead me to dislike the stories, though. The content was well thought out and executed well. I'd recommend this to anyone who likes horror collections and is looking for some variety; it is the spice of life after all.

Some personal favorites include:

Large Yellow Eyes: A small town sheriff investigates a kidnapping and gets more than he bargained for.

A Cold, Dead Body: What's the worst that could happen when some kids go looking for a dead body?

There's Something Inside of Me: Paul has something inside him, and it's hungry.

Hunter and Prey: You better hope Keith is around when the things that go bump in the night make themselves known.

Listen Close: This is where the haunted podcast comes in. Trust me, it works.

This was an extremely fun ride, totally fit for an easy read during a relaxing weekend. Well, as relaxing as it can be, given the fact we are talking about horror stories after all. And this collection has everything you want from the horrors of the human mind to all kind of creatures originating all circles of hell and even from other dimensions/worlds/planets. There were a few stories I enjoyed more than others but I am just going to leave the chance to each reader to pick their favourite. Because I am sure you will have more than one that will stick with you.

Brandon Wills offers a re-edited and updated version of his 40-stories collection (first published in 2023), a true maelstrom of creepy and spooky ideas spanning horror and sci-fi - every tale with a catch or a nasty surprise lurking somewhere! 'The Ouija Board Said It Was Hungry' is an unrelenting barrage of thrilling and disturbing horror tales, best enjoyed in short doses for precisely that reason. Most of them are 'horror snapshots,' limiting themselves to the display of a familiar horror premise (from cannibal serial killers to the eponymous starving Ouija Board) and unfolding it narratively with great imaginarion and lots of attitude. I personally enjoyed most the creepypasta and the supernatural stories: the Ouija story, of course, "I Thought You Were Dead," "A Cold Dead Body," and "Mrs. Kraus's Cats"! Well-done!

Just when I think I have the market cornered when it comes to having an overactive imagination, I read a collection of 40+ horror short stories like this one. Brandon Wills really did cover all bases with his collection here. We got werewolves, bewitched video games, dates ending in cannibalism, a space pandemic, getting rid of the monster under your bed, letters home from a convicted murderer, dealing with an annoying teacher, and leprechaun curses. Just to name a few. All very original and entertaining premises, well executed. Highly recommend for those who like their horrors in a variety pack.

Siblings play with a Ouija board that has a hungry spirit. A man finds out the reason so many people die on New Year's. The woman who meets a brother she didn't know about. A innocent man is taken for vigilante justice. When something evil is born. These and other creepy heart pounding tales await.

Most anthologies have at least one story that stays with you. This one has several. I appreciated how not every story had a supernatural element. Many of the tales reminded me of old "Twilight Zone" episodes and I can easily imagine them being turned into a series for television.

Some of my favorite stories were:
"Grandpa George Saved Our Lives", "I Know Why So Many People Commit Suicide on New Years", "I Thought You Were Dead", "I Never Knew I had a Brother", "The Man With Red Eyes", "Emily of Faerdham", "The Way To A Man’s Heart", and "Reap".

The stories themselves are not terribly long. Think "Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark", but for grown ups. I highly recommend you check this one out. You are sure to find at least one story you'll love.

This short story collection is something special! Normally short stories don’t scare me but some of these really creeped me out! Wills is very talented in crafting an excellent story environment in just a couple of pages. I enjoyed every story, which is quite a feat in a collection. There was a good variety of situations and characters, something different for each story. My favorite in quite a while.

This was a great read! The Ouija Board Said it Was Hungry: And Other Stories holds 40 stories, all of varying length, theme, etc. I honestly enjoyed the fact that there was such a good mix of things. How Brandon was able to craft so many stories, I’m not even sure. He did a phenomenal job though. A couple of my favorites were “The Ouija Board Said it Was Hungry”, “I played the Blair Witch Game and Now She’s Stalking Me”, “Scratches”, and “Give it Some Color.”

The Ouija Board Said It Was Hungry by Brandon Wills. This was a great collection of short stories that had something for everyone. It has creepy kids, serial killers, cursed video games, werewolves, ghosts, leprechauns, vampires, and more. The stories span different countries, cultures, and time periods. There were some great characters in these stories and some very original ideas.

The top 5 stories for me were: Revenge in White, Mrs. Kraus's Cats, I Knew A Kid Who Ate Worms, Tell Me A Story, and Dear Mother. Those stories hit different, and I loved them!

I will give this collection ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5 and would definitely recommend it!

This is a huge collection of short stories by Brandon Wills that is guaranteed to entertain you!

I pretty much enjoyed every single story in this book that has a wide range of different topics. You've got zombies, werewolves, vampires, ghosts, demons, witches, moon and mars colonies, creatures of different kinds, a haunted video game, a haunted podcast, and more!

Some tales are just fun and entertaining, others are super gory and violent, others being straight up disturbing and nasty, others being shocking or sad. Obviously, some are longer than others, but I was not disappointed!

A few that stand out in my mind is the ouija board one, the title of this book that's based on, I always love a good Ouija story!

My personal favorite was the haunted video game. I don't wanna spoil which game it was, but I have played it before and was impressed with how accurate his descriptions of the game were. I also love the movie series as well!

There is this particular nasty story about a man who develops food cravings that made me gag a couple of times, haha.

Overall, this is an incredible short story collection and definitely one of my favorites so far!
