Draw it! It will be faster, more efficient and effective

Before you “but I cannot draw”, read the words of Dan Roam, who has been successfully using the sketchnoting technique in business areas for many

In practice, it turns out that it is people who start their adventure with the concept of visual thinking, starting with statements such as "but I cannot draw...", who are very often the authors of the most insightful drawings.

Reaching for the book Sketchnoting. How to express your thoughts with simple drawings and graphics, you reach not only for knowledge, but also for skills. Half of it is written content, the other half is filled with drawings and spaces for implementing and practicing creative solutions. Step by step, together, we jump into the next stages.

Who is this book for?

For anyone who wants the presented content, notes or summaries of meetings, lessons or lectures to be effective, i.e. remembered. If we create a simple drawing for a given content, based on a good idea rather than artistry, we are able to attract attention to the most important issues. We can explain them faster and make them memorable for longer. Ours and our recipients'.

Why is it worth it?

In addition to the effectiveness of sketchnoting, i.e. drawing, a great advantage is developing one's own creativity, which translates into many other aspects of life. By practicing the creation of metaphors, thanks to which we can show a given issue in the form of a drawing, we run entire layers of fantasy and networks of associations and learn to logically connect the dots. We think not only with words, but also with images. The two hemispheres of the brain complement each other perfectly and are more committed to action.

What will you find in the book?

I show how to take the first steps in sketchnoting, what is best to engage in and what is not worth worrying about. I invite you to draw objects, stick figures and neat letters together. I interweave here and there quick and simple “wow” effects. I'm talking about color psychology. I suggest where to find useful inspirations. I also share many of my own proven ways to use the topic of visual thinking in the business, educational and private space. Each chapter brings surprises that you can use to color your everyday life.

What to do to make it work?

All you have to do is take the first step. Create your first drawing. And be willing to do it. The rest is just a matter of your choices, not your talents.

What if you can't draw?

That's even better. Because drawing in sketchnoting is only a tool for obtaining a clever message, and not an end in itself. The less we focus on form, the more fully we will be involved in creating ideas. We will achieve much more with a good idea than with a beautiful image that is in no way connected to the content we want to interest the audience in. There is quite a lot in the book about how to drive your inner critic out of your head, and I trust that it will be enough to feel good fun and the joy of creating! Because that's the point, right? So that what we do is pleasant and developing for us. This is precisely the intention with which this book was written.
