HOW THE FUCK THAT THIS BOOK IS THE SADDEST FUCKING BOOK I'VE EVER READ THIS YEAR???? OMYGOD. I AM SOBBING MY EYES OUT AS I'M WRITING THIS DOWN.
I am not okay. I was expecting breeding smutty galore dammit! This didn't make me horny at the fucking all. It made me fucking depressed and wanting to bawl my eyes out.
I got no warning at all. I've read books by this author before, and she definitely pulled the rug from underneath me. I did not expect this from her.

This book reminded me of Creed by Kristen Ashley. That one was my all time favourite, one of my favourite star-crossed lovers trope. And you know what, this one too! I have soft spot for that trope, when you did it well, so very well, like this author did, you'll make me want to throw down all my towels and lay on the floor, crying like a little bitch that I am.
Okay, I'm not crying anymore.... Aww I'm crying again. That last scene got me good. I can't move on, girlies. I need something happy next. I'm not good with angsty read at all.

Elena Dawne continues to blow me away with her writing—especially the way she crafts her stories, characters, heartbreaking romance, and the smut. Her books are like crack to me. Jason and Mandi were amazing characters and my heart broke for these two tortured souls. Although they have endured so much pain, sorrow, and trauma for almost twenty years, their love for each other was everlasting. I loved this book and their all-consuming love and sexy relationship captured my attention from start to finish. I could not get enough of this book and simply devoured it. This was a fantastic second chance and opposites-attract romance between two characters who were almost meant to be with one another. Shifting between the past and present, Jason and Mandi's love story was an incredible tale of forgiveness, redemption, love/hate, and finding happiness after pain.
In the end, Jason and Mandi's passionate and highly erotic romance was everything I wanted and more. Even though this book is part of the "Spice in the Mountains" series, it can be read as a standalone. There was an exciting cameo by Vince—a character who I am really looking forward to reading about, and one of Jason's closest friends. This book is a must read for those who are looking for an emotional and exciting second chance romance. I highly recommend Elena Dawne's latest release to anyone who is looking for an angsty and steamy love story between a dominant but loving and possessive hero and his tortured but resilient heroine. I literally have a tag called “plot so good I skipped the smut”—and that’s the energy here… except I absolutely did not skip the smut. I dove in headfirst because Jason is HOT hot HOT 🥵🥵🥵.
This book took me through DERRRE (yes, like the song), emotionally and otherwise, and I loved every second of the ride. Could it be read as a standalone? Sure. But why would you disrespect yourself like that?

Well, this book ripped my heart out, but thankfully it put it back together again.
The storyline and themes are well described in the book description, so I am not going to go into them in this review.
I loved how young Jason and Mandi are both broken, yet perfect for each other, they are ripped apart and only years later find their way back to each other more broken than before - but together they are able make each other whole.
If you like your smutt with substance and a side of sweet, this is a must read book.
The books in this series keep getting better, I really loved Wild Oat Milk, the previous book in this series, but Red Flag Bull certainly gives it a run for its money - in fact I don't think I can pick a favourite between them.

This was pretty good. A spicy read with quite a bit of character depth.
I wasn’t really here for the character development and plot, but if an author is going to give it to me, I want it fleshed out.
I wasn’t left with too many questions about Mandi. Her parents kidnap her and send her to a home for wayward girls, which then steals her baby. Except she’s 18. I needed to know why she didn’t just walk out of there. I needed to know why she couldn’t call Jason or the police. I needed to know why she didn’t name him for the birth certificate to throw a wrench in the adoption.
And Jacob… did it not occur to him to question the story of her leaving for art school when he wasn’t able to find a trace of her for 19 years? And how hard did he look if she’s been living down the road at her sister’s house?

I really loved this story. Jason is from the wrong side of the tracks and Mandi is from a wealthy family that wants nothing to do with her. She is always getting herself in bad situations but Jason likes being there to save her. One day Mandi disappears without a word and Jason doesn't see her until 19 yrs later. She has a lot of secrets to tell but will Jason forgive her for disappearing and breaking his heart? This book was a very spicy, age gap, second chance romance with a lactation kink. It was a different feel from Elena's other books that I've read. Jason is a very aggressive alpha male while Mandi has a more submissive passive personality. Together their chemistry is explosive. I highly recommend reading this book!

Los personajes de Elena cobran vida en algún momento te identificas y entiendes la personalidad de cada personaje.
Para mi me hubiera encantado leer un poco más de la “lista” y las consecuencias de los actos de la familia Warren … pero no fue así y entiendo que se ofreció paz y tranquilidad emocional a los personajes sin abundar en el odio, dolor inseguridades, etc y prevalece el amor a la vida .
Personajes inteligentes que en algún momento se dejaron llevar por sus inseguridades (etapa de juventud )

I expected the heat in this book. I expected the kink in this book. What I didn't expect was for it to be so heart-wrenching. Sadly I can relate to the younger version of Mandi. For everything her and Jason went through completely broke me. I had a feeling that not everything was by her choice and then I was proving right. I love that they now have Caleb in their life. I need more of the entire family.

A very serious turn of events!
I’ve read all the books in this series and at book three I started thinking “wait a minute, this is actually becoming more than just smut” and book four delivered!
I really wasn’t expecting the kind of story I ended up reading because it gave so much more! More drama, more emotions, more problems, family madness! A lot actually went down.

I mean… You know what you are getting yourself into when you read this series you don’t need me to tell you
I wish there was more conflict between the characters. We don’t get to know what he did to the people that hurt the fmc which I wanted.

Draws you in, and you can’t stop reading!
I love this series and I am so glad to have found this author! The story between Jason and Mandi is so intense, I couldn’t put it down. This was so well written, you feel all of the anguish and heartache. So many details to live through. I loved how the story ended!

So much emotion. I was not prepared for this tear jerker but so glad I managed to get through the hard stuff to see their hea. A lot of spice and ofc 🥛😋 check the TW as there is some tough themes. Absolutely loved this but I deserve a medal for my bookshelf

Another great read by a great author. Well rounded, believable characters, chemistry with spice. A compelling story with emotion and thought. This authors writing is so vibrating to me, I can just fall into these stories and it’s delightful .

It's weird, that it is weird that this is the first book in the series in which the main characters are relatively around the same age. He is a touch her and die man, and they are both traumatized, but they're going to grow together, and I love that for them.
