You’ve heard of butt spiders from the first book, Arachnophobia. Now get ready for - penis spiders!
This was bloody disgusting and a ton of fun. And did I tear up a little at the end? Maybe I did, look AWAY.
Also, not to be a bug nerd or anything, but the tarantula hawks are referred to as bees and they’re not bees. This might have been intentional since they were discovered by kids but I can’t help bugs are my special interest. I know I’m taking a book about flesh eating spiders that incubate in the human body too seriously 🫣
This was a blast to read. Great characters take on an evil batch of spiders. Not all survive, even the most likeable. Big and small, these beasties go after everything and everyone. Wonderful suspense and unending action and gore. Loved it. To make it all more supreme was the author's amazing writing style. I thought it was also key to this great book. The author is very talented, imaginative, and knows well what is scary and frightening. Awesome job. Thanks. Highly recommended.
An explosive conclusion. Spiders are freaking terrifying. So many things happen and really there are some nasty people too. But Boo is a good dog. And the kids are brave!
A frightening reminder of how dangerous arachnids are
Of course, this read gave me the itchy sensation the entire length. It is a great horror story if you think that skin tearing and puss and hairy spindly legs are cool. Which I do. Rafe is still kicking and he is trying to save the town with his little dog Boo. Frank makes several appearances as do the hospital staff, patients and Xander and his bully. Book will keep you up at night if you don’t like spiders. Or if you’re like me, deathly afraid of them but couldn’t put book down. It’s like a car accident . You don’t want to gawk but you can’t peel your eyes away as you drive slowly by. Just to make sure everyone is alright. Whatever you have to tell yourself. Indulge in this book and be prepared to itch well into the night.
The first book in this series was scary as hell. This one is, if anything, even creepier. The mutant spiders have begun to multiply in extremely gruesome ways. People become infested and literally explode. Wow! As if huge venomous spiders weren't scary enough, wait till you meet the kids. As I mentioned in my review of the first book, I am a recovering Arachnophobiac and, as such, literally devour books about spiders, especially giant ones. If you are anything like me, you'll love this series.
Nellyyyy, this book was even creepier than the first one. A quick and easy read. Boy, reading this I was itching everywhere. Then they brought bees in, noooo. I have a bee phobia. You won't be disappointed.
I had been searching for something different to read. Something other than my zombie books, which were all seeming to read alike. I couldn't stop reading one I started. These were really a great read. I would recommend it to anyone.
Okay this was a whole new take on the spider story ,,, I just read this book I didn't read book #1 it was very good , very creepy and a fast read you will not be disappointed with this
This was a really gripping read as was the case with the first book. I was on the edge of my seat (or bed actually because that's where I read this mostly) wondering who was going to survive. Such an interesting and genuinely scary depiction of spiders. For the vast majority of the two books, there's a really helpless feeling because they just seem too powerful to stop.
One thing I also liked was that there were no animal deaths. I was so scared for Boo, the dog and I'm so glad she made it out safely.
I was disappointed that Rafe and Warren didn't manage to get out of this alive but still, they did what they could to help everyone. And I did not expect Xander to end up being the overall hero. That was a nice little surprise.
I thought it was clever to use bees as the weapon to fight the spiders and bees are so essential to earth and humanity's prosperity. Also bees kind of make you think of sunshine which is the antithesis of the spiders who thrive in the dark.
Really glad I picked this series up. I think it deserves far more hype than it seems to have. Definitely recommend reading though if you're squeamish, proceed with caution as there is a lot of body horror.
