Lord knows I've never written a book, but I can clearly see this was written by an accountant who's an amateur at writing in hopes of getting it into a syllabus for a college accounting course. That doesn't make it exactly bad, but I'm not in college anymore, so I'm done reading lightly constructed stories in service of the learning objective or souped up nonfiction books that are trying to be a Robert Ludlum thriller. My one exception to that is Revenge of the Cube Dweller. This book wishes it could be Revenge of the Cube Dweller.

This book was both the best thing I've ever read and the worst. I enjoyed the accounting and finance bits (as a CPA myself...), however, the topless volleyball game (cue eye roll) and the corny phrases like "true dat" was a bit hard to read. The author did however clearly do his research as there were a lot of interesting and correct facts included in the book. I would recommend a more creative writing approach to his story telling and less bullet points about internal control weaknesses.

My husband bought me this book, so I felt compelled to finish it. Therefore, if I have to read it then so do you; hence the 5/5 rating, would recommend.

Green Shade$ is a clever take on the accounting profession. Greg does a great job telling a captivating story while weaving in interesting and relevant information about the role of Certified Public Accountants and other professions in the financial arena. If you are an accountant, work with accountants or are simply looking for a fast paced thriller, I highly recommend this book. You won’t be disappointed!
