An Excellent Western.

Usually I distrust heroes who ate Southern Civil War vets. Jubal Cain is an exception. Straightforward, brave, honest, loves good strong women. The book doesn't plainly acknowledge slavery, but it also doesn't harp on the usual pros southern arguments. You don't habe to deny our two great national sins -- slavery and genocide against indigenous people -- to enjoy the book.

enjoyable

While I did enjoy reading this novel, I found the constant back-and-forth between the two different storylines a bit disconcerting and disruptive, at least to this reader. Other than that, it was well done.

great series

I would highly recommend this series. Great writing by this author keeps the pages flowing from one adventure to another. Can’t wait to the next in this series.
Pray that the author can finish the next book with his current condition.

Outstand

Extremely well written. Lots of good stuff. Great story full of life and love, with just enough adventure to make it real. Get better and don't give up your dreams.

Book#2

This turned out to be a pretty good read. It kept me wondering and anxious for the next book in the series. I'm curious to find out which woman wins Jubal's heart. I would surely recommend this book and series to all.

Good read

The characters try to tell what it was like after the Civil war. The fighting that continued for many years after the surrender of Lee.
