I LOVED the way the information in this book was presented - Silvan and Jordan do a great job on their YouTube channel talking about gardening and other ways of procuring your own food, and the book version did not disappoint. I really enjoyed the section on seed saving, and there were bits of new info for me in several of the sections on specific crops. Info like this is what I feel like I've been missing in other resources I've gone to for gardening, where the basics get covered but not always the details, especially on how to process and store longer-term.
I definitely feel like I've taken away a lot of great information (that I can reference anytime thanks to the format of 'book'!) that will benefit this year's garden and many years of gardens to come! I truly appreciate Silvan and Jordan taking the time to share what they've learned, and make gardening feel like a connection to the greater human community across space and time :)
I’ve followed them for a few years on YouTube and instagram and was eager to read their book! They are so intelligent and interesting and surprisingly informative for as young as they are! They are so hard working! I wish they had a television show because both are able to speak so well in front of a camera. This book is great! It is an amazing guide to living off your garden and they show you how they do just that. With instructions for how to use your garden to grow more than 15 important crops to fill your nutritional needs and sustain life.
I am an amateur home gardener who is always looking to refine my skills a bit with each growing season. This book is so encouraging, helpful, and entertaining - I feel it's a very "whole picture" approach to gardening, with sections on garden prep, harvest, storage, etc., as well as specific information on many staple crops. I appreciate the balanced information on maximizing your space/garden output while also being mindful of waste, expenses, etc. I'm so excited to put this knowledge to use and hopefully have my first successful Three Sisters patch! Can't recommend this book enough.
