Some of the best recent writing in Destiny - the Flower Game, Penumbra, the origin of the Vex - that makes this a worthy volume to close your collection. There's no D1 or seasonal filler here. However, it repeats itself a lot, with much of the content focused on discovering the Witness which will be rather anticlimactic, and some weird non chronological placement.

One of the better grimoires—and I have read them all. Some interesting real world philosophy such as the Prisoners’ Dilemma, the Red Queen theory (i.e. parasites), and the Game of Life (the inventor recently passed away).
This book has some interesting ideas for our current times. Live well, Guardians!

The art in this vs the other books seems extremely light, and not at the same level as the other books. The text itself was decent.

As always artwork is top tier. I love me anything Destiny lore regardless of the state of the game. I will go down as a Destiny diehard. 11 years and running of loving this game. I just pray Bungie can keep it going for another 11.
Revisiting this review...gawd. I'm sure my friends are getting sick of my constant Destiny2 posts on social media. But if you know, you know. For the whole Destiny community we're grieving. Something that's been around since 2014 and has had new content added for nearly 11 years. It truly felt like Destiny was always going to be around. A lot of us started playing in our teens (or for me, I was in my 20s) this game grew with us. Some met their husbands or wives through this game. I have met countless amazing people playing this game. And it's been a since of community I have forever belonged to. I honestly thought there would be a day that my daughter would be able to experience the Destiny I've played a live service game with new content.
Will Destiny still be playable yes. But the stories stop. No new content. No new expansions. No raid races. No new strikes or dungeons. What about the Nine? Lodi? Drifter and Eris? Crow? Mara and lifting the curse on the Dreaming City? Zavala? Where the hell is Clovis, hiding in a usb port? Ana? Elsie? Red subclass??? Their stories just end. We'll never get that closure. And my heart breaks for Lore Mama, Alison. If I could hug your neck I would. I loved watching the dev insights and seeing how much you love this world you've helped build. My heart shatters for you.
Imagine your favorite book series of all time and that must anticipated next book in the series, okay. Now the author leaves you on the absolute worse cliffhanger EVER and they pass away. Sad all by itself because of the author passing. Tragic. But then you realize their work will go unfinished. What they poured their heart and soul into is just done. Nothing stating how they wanted the series to end. Fans can make up an ending sure. But it's not the same. Because it's not from them.
Now take that and shift your focus to how the D2 community feels. IT'S NOT JUST A VIDEO GAME. Let's get that straight. It's a story. It's a world with our favorite characters. The devs have poured their heart and soul into this story they have weaved for years. Sure there was dry spells but we as a community; devs, content creators, and gamers we have be there through it all. We fell in love with these characters. Starting from the moment we meet our Ghost. Over the years he's been our guiding little light. Our little buddy. He's always been there by our sides. Through it all. And even in the end of the Light and Darkness Saga we nearly lost him, witnessed our beloved Hunter Vanguard give up his light to save Ghost's. We fell in love with our Vanguard leaders. Whether you was a Titan, Warlock or Hunter main we loved our leaders. We we're united in our revenge to avenge Cayde-6 murder. We've always been in awe of how big of a badass Ikora is, poor Shaxx. And Zavala. Zavala has always had some of the most iconic quotes in the game with his transmissions going into strikes. One till this day that lives rent free in my head is from the Devil's Lair (nvm I've ran that grandmaster more than I can count....could run it in my sleep no lie).
"The Fallen will continue to claw at the walls of our City, unless we strike them down. Beneath the ruins of the Cosmodrome, in the shadow of an old colony ship, we've located the House of Devils' Lair and the High Servitor feeding them their strength. We must destroy this machine god, and send their souls screaming back to hell."
I'm so devasted over no more Mara and Crow stories. I fucking hate it, I love everything Awoken and I'm just left here strand in the ascendant plane. But the one that doesn't sit well with me is the fact that Edge of Fate was a start of a new saga. And now nothing. We get no follow up with Lodi and Ikora. It's bullshit especially when you think about Lodi. We literally got introduced to this character and he's fucking amazing! His backstory being intertwined with Ikora. And see, damnit we finally got backstory on Mama Warlock, who she was before as a human, before she became a guardian. (I'm not mad at anyone at Bungie so don't misdirect my anger.)
I'm just so damn heartbroken. And I know most won't get it. Some will even judge "because it's a video game." But for those of you that do get I'm here. Just sharing my love for one of the best damn things I was ever been a part of. I'm so thankful that years ago I seen the trailers for the game and was like you know what......I want to be a legend. And legends we are. It's been my absolute honor to be part of something that was truly magical. And I'll be there June 9th when we all log in for the very last update and I pray to God I get a weasel error code because we want to slam the servers and to show Sony they're a bunch of fucking idoits to table a game that's actually been something amazing for the past 11 years.
