Cassie has written an incredible resource for young women that you simply must add to your bookshelf. Buy it for your nieces, send it to your friends who have daughters, and read it with your own children. This is the most thorough and applicable real-life devotion book written for young women that I have read. Although I received an advanced copy to read and review, I will be personally purchasing several of these for the girls in my life because they need this at their fingertips when they’re struggling. It is a beautiful road map gently pointing girls to the Lord in a tangible and useful way.
I have been in education for 18 years, and almost a decade of that time was spent in middle school classrooms at a Lutheran school in a metropolitan area. This is exactly what I wish I would have had as a resource for the girls that I taught during all those years. The practical God-centered wisdom contained in this devotion, had me tearing up multiple times because of the authenticity and truth that radiated off the page and into my heart. Whether a girl is struggling with internal positive self talk, with friendships that have passed into unhealthy territory, with doubt or insecurity—the honest and relatable stories told in this devotion should bring encouragement to her. She can persevere through this time and draw close to our Lord, who is always present, using this Christ-centered survival kit as a valuable resource.
The seemingly effortless weaving of scripture into the real-life, contemporary stories of the writer and girls she has known is genius. Cassie manages to do this in a relatable yet timeless way that makes this book a tool that can be read by those who have no knowledge of the Bible while also being valuable to those who have grown up rooted in Scripture. Structurally this devotion book is very practical. Each devotion offers bite-sized digestible truths that consistently have space for girls to write down their thoughts. There are checklists for some of the topics which are helpful.
Even without having any other Christian influence in her life, a young woman could read this book and learn the fundamental and life-changing truths of Christianity. For those who want to enrich their relationships with the young ladies in their lives, this would be a wonderful resource to spark conversations, provide reflection opportunities, and encourage deeper Bible reading.
I went into this devotion book knowing I would really enjoy reading it, but I finished the devotion book with a fire to send this information to the guardians of every girl within my community. We need more books like this available and written in approachable ways for the target audience: the youth of this generation. I would definitely recommend this book as a must read for middle school and beyond. Some of the topics may be a little beyond early middle school girls, however, the kinds of information the youth today are exposed to from the internet and media warrant acknowledging these topics from a Christ-centered lens. With my own ten year old daughter, I will be taking the time to talk with her about these scary, hard, uncomfortable topics. I do not want our girls hiding things out of shame or fear because they’ve missed hearing about Jesus’s forgiveness, faithfulness, protection, and hope. I think sometimes in Christian communities people try to hide things under rugs rather than being a safe harbor for our youth to learn that they do not need to despair. There is hope and a bright future ahead of them, and that hope shines through in these devotions that stay grounded in God’s Word.
I know a lot of women in their 30s who could find meaningful encouragement in this book, too! For girls in fourth or fifth grade, I would still recommend this book because it is tremendously hopeful and useful, but there are a few devotions that I would personally save for when they emotionally and mentally more developed. Reading these along with your daughter, niece, or granddaughter would be a fabulous option for girls who are in upper elementary school.
I laughed, I cried, I found hope, and was reminded of who we all are in Christ within these pages. Cassie brings so much emotion into the brief devotions, I can't imagine anyone reading these and not being impacted positively. I wish a book like this had been available when I was a teenager. So many questions are answered - truthfully and honestly, yet mixed with personal stories that will help young women relate.
I appreciated the topical index. The times my daughters were struggling with one challenge or another I would have loved to have a resource like this to turn to or share with them to help make sense of life. Young people are searching for answers from people willing to be real and transparent with them. This book knocks it out of the park! I don't have any granddaughters (yet), but this is on my list to have ready for them once I do!
Faith Notes is a refreshing, manageable devotion for any young woman seeking to enrich her devotional life. Cassie does a fabulous job of tying real life to biblical principles. I was so relieved when I started reading, because this isn’t “just another devotion.” This is a safe place to rest in God’s Word with friendly stories, guiding questions, activities, and tools to go beyond the book. You can read the book in order, or skip around to the topic that drives you. This is the devotional every young woman needs to be reminded she is beautifully, fearfully, and wonderfully made. Frankly, it’s a book I wish I had when I was younger. I plan on having my daughters read it when they're older. I’ve loved everything Cassie has written!
Yes, read it. You won't regret it. I adored this devotional! It was exactly what I needed to hear in a time when I was struggling with my faith and with what God was doing in my life. With anything that Cassie writes, I love that she doesn't hold back. This devotional was no different—it dives right into the real life issues that so many women face. From navigating relationships, mental health, wrestling with self-doubt and purpose (literally just to name a few), each devotion connects these challenges to God's Word. Not only does it address the “what” of these struggles, but it offers practical, heartfelt guidance on how to respond, reflect, and grow through them. I am so grateful for this devotional. You absolutely need to get it!
There are so many great devotionals that I have read, but I have struggled to find the “right” devotion. (Is there even a “right” devotion?) Well for me, I think this would be it. There are MANY devotions in this book that apply to a variety of ages and for a variety of questions and struggles. Every devotion is packed with Scripture, truth, grace, and the wonderful Gospel. Each devotional has an activity recommendation, space to answer questions, or to journal! I think this is a book for young girls through adulthood to read alone or with someone. I’m so thankful I was introduced to this book!
Scripture based, filled with practical application and relatable antidotes, Faith Notes offers a refreshing, Gospel based approach to daily life for young women. Cassie Moore does a terrific job connecting Biblical truths to our modern world of social media, photo filters, and complex relationships.
Never sugar coating reality, Faith Notes does more than telling us to “do better,” but instead reminds us that we are all in need of grace and redemption. This book motivates us to slow down and reflect, so that we can get up and love others in whatever roles God has called us.
Cassie does it again with a book that speaks to the heart of many women with love, encouragement and grounded in God.
Tackling a lot of issues that women deal with at various stages of life and gives you a short, powerful and deep message with a moment to self evaluate and then rooted in God's word, seeking him to help guide women through that issue.
I recommend this to young women to read and go back to often but everyone should read it to be able to support young women in your life or ministry- to help understand and lovingly support.
I’ve been in student ministry for over 20 years and I would definitely recommend this resource! To be honest, my daughter is getting a copy for Christmas and I definitely want to buy copies for my goddaughters and nieces too. The format is fantastic for teaching young people, the spiritual discipline of spending time alone with God. I served in youth ministry at a time that really burdened young people with purity culture and I really love how Cassie Moore addresses the issue from a truly big picture stance.
This devotional is packed with beautiful content for teenagers. I am currently raising two daughters ages 15 and 17, and they could relate strongly to these devotions. I absolutely love the readings on Family and Home - oh for our families to endure faith together in their homes! Yes Please! Encouraging them to journal or share their reactions is an outstanding way for these teens to process their faith journey. Thank you, Cassie, for another amazing book! This will absolutely be purchased for our youth group, my own daughters, nieces, and friends for gifts!
This book really meets women where they are at. It doesn't shy away from the difficult situations and topics that affect girls and women in today's world. Instead of skipping over it because it is uncomfortable, Moore meets it with scripture and promises of the gospel. It also doesn't just encourage, but it shows how to respond and engage with what is learned in order to grow.
