What does it mean to be Undignified? To be undignified is to be fully foolish and undone. It is the antithesis of appearing dignified, well-learned, composed and societally correct. Undignified takes a backwards spin on societal trends and gives the reader an intimate place to truly see the "God whose love seems too good to be true", without the pressure of performance or perfection. The author of her former book, Unraveled, gives us a front row seat into her intimate moments with the Lord and reveals a daring beauty about the innocence of relationship with God.
Undignified walks you through uncharted territory where the scales, the protective layers, and years of trauma begin to fall off. They have no choice but to be "loosed" in this place. Here, there is no room for anxiety and no reason to prove yourself. Undignified ground breeds a trust in the One who knew you before time and space defined a day.
When culture suggests you tidy up before absorbing all God is, Undignified invites the mess, the chaos and the crazy. It welcomes the dark, the dingy, and the dysfunction. It's in this place where we dare utter the words we've never spoken aloud in a room alone. This is the place of true transformation. There is nothing to do here, but to observe and rest.
In Undignfied, an undeniable light shines on the state at which we think we should approach God. This book is for anyone navigating a relationship with the Lord. It's for the one who knows there's more but doesn't know what more looks like. It is the resting ground for you to see and experience everything Father has done to simply be with you.
Undignified is a continuation of Deanna’s testimony of learning who God is, being bold enough to stand naked before God and say, ‘I’m giving you everything, Lord’, and allowing Him to uproot all the trauma, lies and pain she once believed belonged to her. It is recognising our true identity in Christ, not through our own striving, but by learning to rest in Him.
This book will help you get comfortable in the hidden place with God, where things can get…well, a bit uncomfortable. It is a preparation for what is to come. Don’t be scared of the cocoon, because it leads to learning how to fly.
I took my time reading this book to really digest and relate it to my experience walking in my relationship with God. I found it to say things that my heart lacked words to say and poke at the parts of my heart that I have been shielding. The goal is never to be perfect but sometimes that’s forgotten as we live in the world. This was a reminder that God does not call for perfection but welcomes us to be undignified because his love is not limited by us. The process has been paid and for that we have access to his grace and love. 💗
I have read both books and each time God speaks to me through your books such an amazing connection showing and telling me what it is I needed to know. it’s true sometimes the Lord speaks through other people. This journey has been life-changing. Thank you for being transparent.
This was the most intimate and well written book I have ever read outside of the Bible. I felt Gods presence and closeness in every chapter. I will constantly refer to this book throughout life! Thank You Deanna for being an example of what it looks like to be undignified!
An amazing touch and reminder of God’s . Highly recommend for the person who is being made to lie down in a green pasture or for those who want to hear from Him, directly. God is able and He never fails.
“Past, Pain, and Panic need to know you are talking to them in order for them to go.” There are soooooo many times I felt like God was talking to me; confirming, guiding, and nurturing me forward. This book is nothing short of divine.
