When the brown-eyed beauty showed up at the wrong place, witnessing a crime my best friend and I could never let her live to speak of, I agreed to make the best of it. I agreed to have some fun.
But I was a fool.
I was born an Alekseev… Selfish, cruel, stubborn, heartless, and above all else, victorious.
I should’ve known the moment I laid eyes on the girl that she could only ever be one thing…
Mine.
A note from
Luka is an 18+ DARK captive mafia romance set in the world of the Las Vegas Petrov Bratva that contains graphic scenes of violence and dubious adult situations. A full list of content warnings can be found inside the book, as well as on the book’s description on my website. No other books need to be read to enjoy this standalone. Enjoy!
I’m giving this 5 stars to encourage the author to write more dark and sexy. The author wrote a Thank You at the end that said the sexy scene in Luka changed how she wrote because she had held herself back but when she shared this scene to her newsletter subscribers, she received a ton of positive feedback with readers were wanting darker.
Luka started off with lots of action, and I loved Luka’s jealousy but also coldness at the beginning. In terms of steam, it was intense in the beginning but to be honest it disappeared to focus on the story as well as their developing relationship, to expand it beyond captor/captive. Based on my personal preferences, I would give this 4 stars.
In some ways, the claustrophobic beginning reminded me of what I loved in Kaia Bennett’s Die By The Drop, the sharing, the violence, and sadism. Also the motel scene with Arseni was also adding to this. I really enjoy these claustrophobic settings. It also reminded me a little of Whitney Bianca’s I Know What I Love Is.
However, middle and ending steers us away from a darker story to wrap up the mafia storyline, and soften the characters, particularly Luka. I loved it whenever the heroine read Luka to filth. The psychological reads are fun.
I am definitely going to be reading Arseni that is coming out in a few weeks, and I’m going to be looking through Nicole Cypher’s back catalogue for sure!
Who knew throughout this book I would learn to love Luka and feel bad for him at times!?! I really was like man he is ruthless and doesn’t care about anyone in the beginning. He continuously lies to his family and the so called people he care about. But all he needed was Lucia to change him. She was naive and never saw the world, but she knew when he was real and when he wasn’t. They ended up so perfect for one another.
I am always grateful when authors let me join their ARC teams. I will say, I cannot stand when people have an ARC for a book and give it a high rating because they feel bad. I believe this defeats the purpose of being on an ARC team--I like to be honest. I'd hate for someone else to waste their time on a book because I could have warned them about something. That being said--- here is my review.
Overall rating: 2.5 rounded up to 3 HEA/HFN: HFN POV: Dual 1st MMC: Luka FMC: Lucia (hate that their names are so similar--it was confusing AF) I won't write a summary because I think the book summary is written really well. I will just write what I liked, didn't like, safety deets and all that good stuff....
What I liked: -I really liked Lucia. She was ignorant as hell, but she spent her entire 19 years trapped in her father's house (Cartel princess)...but she was strong willed. Even when her body betrayed her, she wasn't stupid about it. She truly always did what she thought was right.
-The story kept me interested and I did feel the need to keep going bc I wanted to know how it ended.
What I didn’t like: -Luka. Hated him. He never redeemed himself in my opinion. He is a selfish a-hole and he needed to grovel. Apparently he "changed". I didn't see it. In my eyes, he never became worthy of Lucia. He was gross. He slept with his brother's girlfriend just because he could (repeatedly) then killed her. He forced himself upon Lucia because she refused to give in to him (she felt loyal to her boyfriend Mario who she was promised to). She was a V because of her upbringing. He was brutal. Other reviews say he was only brutal in the beginning-- I don't think he made up for it at all.
-Luka's best friend Arseni-- hated him even more than Luka. No desire to read his book.
-I didn't feel any chemistry between the 2 of them. I actually would have preferred if this story was between her and Mario.....He was more redeemable at this point.
Safety: Safe in terms of no cheating, no break up (bc they're never actually together). Not safe in terms of hearing about past OW and crazy triggers. Luka and his friend force themselves upon her (different times). This doesn't trigger me, but for people with a Rpe trigger it might. I also don't think Luka did enough to redeem himself. I like dark romances, but this was just dark. I wasn't buying the romance....
OW/OM drama: This is not a simple question--Luka slept with his brother Leo's girlfriend constantly just bc he could (barf). He passed Lucia off to his friend after he was "done with her" (more barf) Cheating: See above. 3rd act breakup: No because they weren't even together the entire book Celibate: I guess they're only with each other after meeting? If you don't count Arseni forcing himself on Lucia....
✨Okay, so Luka had me intrigued from the first line. Morally grey mafia men? Yes. Captor/captive tension? Double yes. Luka is everything you’d expect from an Alekseev—cold, possessive, and alpha to the extreme. And the chemistry between him and the heroine? Off the charts🤌🏽. Their scenes together were steamy, raw, and totally unhinged in the way only dark romance can pull off.❤️🔥
⭐️But here’s the thing—I never really felt their connection beyond the physical. There were flickers of vulnerability, moments where the story could’ve gone deeper, but it mostly stayed on the surface.🥺I wanted more emotional build-up, more tension beyond the dominance and obsession. I kept waiting for Luka to surprise me… and he didn’t. This one’s more about power play than partnership.😕
🖤Still, if you’re in the mood for something fast-paced, spicy, and dark with a possessive MMC who doesn’t play nice, this will absolutely deliver. Just don’t expect a ton of character growth or heart-tugging moments.🤭
Perfect for fans of darker romance who want steam and chaos first, feelings second.🙌🏽
Thank you to the Author Nicole Cypher for the opportunity to read this ARC!🖤
Book 4 in the Petrov Bratva series gives us Luka and Lucia and honestly I think this one was a bit too dark for my personal liking. It’s definitely not the darkest book I’ve ever read but I think my main issue was how Luka treated Lucia in the beginning and just how awful he was to her. I did like Lucia’s character - all the FMC’s in this series have been really strong whereas I find the MMC’s to be a bit lacking for me. All of these characters also fall in love way too fast with very little buildup to it in my opinion and that was even more prevalent in this book. The storyline itself was fine and flowed fairly well and Luka did redeem himself a teensy tinsy bit by the end but I would have liked to see a bit more groveling from him.
I received an ARC of this book via BookSirens and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Read the triggers carefully because, girl, they are all there! Young, sheltered, and naive, Lucia doesn't know who to trust or what to do. Whenever she thinks she finds salvation, she finds herself in a worse situation! Who would think your worst nightmare is your saving grace?
This book is pretty good. Luka is a cold killer and Lucia is on the run from her father. This story does go into why he is the way he is. And Lucia does something to him that makes him better. But it will take a while to get there. Need to read
LUKA BY NICOLE CYPHER 4✨ ✨ ✨ ✨s. Book 4. Out now. 🖤 This book was rather dark so make sure to read those trigger warnings. Looking forward to finishing this series
I read the first few pages of chapter four months ago when Nicole teased us with it in her newsletter, and I knew instantly I was going to love Luka. I was so very right! He's so complex and deep. Yes, he's cruel but when you learn why, you understand. He hides his true self behind a cold facade that Lucia quickly saw right through.
I really liked how scappy and intuitive Lucia is. And her capacity to love was both sweet and touching. These two were almost destined to be together, and Lucia definitely brought out the absolute best in Luka, even when he tried his hardest to fight it and everything else she made him feel.
The biggest suprise in this book, outside the unexpected and unpredictable plot twists, is the amusing and entertaining relationship between Luka and his bff, Arseni. They were like two playful but dangerous lion cubs. I laughed at their antics while I was equally disturbed by their cruelty and lack of compassion for seemingly anyone. I kind of wish we'd had a few more scenes between them, but since Arseni's book is next, hopefully, I'll get lots more there.
Vitaly went a long way towards redeeming himself after his less than impressive actions in the last book. Maybe he'll turn out to be a great Pakhan, after all. We'll see.
There's tons of action, of course. Bratva, you know! I honestly expected this book to be a lot darker than it was. That doesn't mean it wasn't at all. I just thought it would be almost pitch black. Still, Nicole has a bunch of trigger warnings that actually aren't really that spoilery, and the bottom line is that this isn't a book for anyone bothered by graphic violence or dubcon/noncon of any type. (Read that again. Graphic Violence. Dubcon/Noncon. All with capital letters.)
Finally, this book is easily read as a standalone as there aren't a lot of references to any of the past books. Just one or two, and they are explained. And except for Vitaly and Mila, no other couples from prior books make an appearance. Even Nikita was mostly absent, although I'm sure he's planning something nefarious even as we speak.
I absolutely cannot wait for Arseni's book. The Petrov Bratva series just keeps getting better and better. I'm excited to see what else Nicole has planned for the future.
This was written well, the feel of the book has you living the moments with these characters. This is a full story and the characters are fleshed out. I have been reading her since the last book in another series she has. It's where a character in this world was introduced to me and so I just had to know where this was going! You do not need to read previous books, however many characters are mentioned and it broadens the whole world. I have to warn everyone, there are severe triggers here and in this series. Do NOT take this lightly. I have more than exceeded my limit.
Him and his close friend take her, threaten her, even as they all experience personal and joint problems.
The world is dangerous and scary. Intense. Things in previous books weren't cup of tea but I was so curious as to everyone's story I just read on. I won't be anymore. I liked the female lead and it ends there. That poor thing deserved more. The male does end up loving her and it is real. But he needed to redeem himself more. He was cruel and almost uncaring, same with his buddy. But the kicker was something I don't accept in my books. I promised not to give spoilers so I can't. But it's 2025 and the internet can tell you. I like my romances to have romance in there somewhere and also certain things need to be between the two leads only. Then it got worse because he committed a betrayal to his own blood-just because-over and over, before our female lead. But that betrayal is mentioned during this story. I'm shocked and I read mafia all the time. I'm disappointed and disgusted with him as a lead. I actually tried reading a college romance of hers and… I just can't. She is such a talented author and writes well! Her books are detailed and there is so much going on and never a dull moment. These kind, it's just not for me but will no doubt be for many others. I enjoyed the Gruco Crime Family series so much and it's more my speed. I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
Out of the gate 10 freaking stars!!! This young talented author Nicole Cypher has done it again. She loves writing books back to back and I have to say after Vitaly I didn't know what to expect from Luka. Vitaly wasn't cruel Nikita the previous Pakhan was especially with Mila Luka's sister but boy did Vitaly mess up when he was young that leading them on their path of him becoming the new Pakhan… I dont know how many times I actually have to say this but I despise Nikita I really sincerely hope someone anyone kills that mother fluffer slowly and painfully thats what he deserves.
Luka and Lucia story has a rough start. And even though I am against what he did to Lucia he was very gentle about it so it gives you some gray area. Thank goodness for the "Grey Area" Then again if Luka didn't indulge in the gray area the book would not have been as magnificent as it is.
I have read every single book Nicole has written and every one has made its mark. She is an exceptional writer being able to use her talents to such an extent that she creates magic. Her books are not for the faint of heart and she gives those that read her books more then enough warning, so if you are brave, can stomach dark romance this book will not disappoint. I read it straight through and couldn't put it dowm. Actually it could have given a few more chapters thats how much I enjoyed it.
For me personally I have enjoyed every series she has dedicated herself to. The stories Nicole Cypher writes is fiction and not at all who she is in real life lets remember that. Nicole Cypher I loved Luca and Lucia story I cant wait for the next book that will come from your mighty pen, I only know it will be brilliant just like you. One of your favorite book fans.
I received an advanced copy and leaving my honest review…. READ HER BOOKS 📚
This book is like if Tangled was set in a mafia backdrop, and I mean that in the best possible way. It also does not spoil anything because you can tell that Nicole Cypher is an author that fucking knows her characters and allows them to guide the story, and can I just say - she has SUCH skill in making me care about characters I never thought I'd give two fucks about.
And goddamn. There was one passage that hit me SO fucking hard. Love isn't supposed to have conditions. It isn't supposed to be about what you can take from a person. It's supposed to be about what you can give. You're supposed to imagine the best possible partner for your companion then do one of two things: commit to being that partner or let that person go. No other path is good enough.
GOD FUCKING DAMN IT. The first three lines are standard romance stuff, I just read past it, but those LAST TWO LINES. I just stopped and took it in, because I don't think I've ever seen it laid out that starkly before. And even though I complain about characters who self-sabotage their romances by being like OMG THEY'RE TOO GOOD FOR ME AND I WILL JUST CORRUPT THEM, with this one passage, Nicole Cypher fucking SOLD it to me. And I think that's what makes this particular book so, so good - because the person involved is genuinely a shitty person, and they learn to do things better, and they did it in a way that felt so real and compelling to me. And I just - god damn it, I wish all romance novels were written like this because damn this was good and I could go on about this for the next ten years or so
While none of the men in this series have been saints, they’ve always had a flicker of redemption buried beneath their ruthless exteriors—even at their worst. But Luka? Luka was different. His transformation felt like a leap too far, a complete 180 that was hard to swallow. It wasn’t just the way he treated Lucia—though that alone was unforgivable—it was his sheer, unflinching coldness, his utter lack of compassion. How do you root for a man like that? Lucia, on the other hand, was a revelation. Despite the terror she endured and the monster she saw in Luka, she stood her ground with a strength that made you forget she was only nineteen. Naïve yet perceptive, she saw through Luka in a way no one else did. I especially loved the distinction she made between submitting to him and forcing him to take what he wanted, ensuring her dignity remained intact. The irony was that this sheltered girl, raised in a gilded cage, was the one who truly understood Luka—exposing cracks in his armor and shaking his very foundation. Like all the books in this series, this one delivers in spades—action, drama, spice, and jaw-dropping moments you never see coming. While Luka’s story may not be my favorite in the Petrov Bratva universe, I can’t deny the satisfaction of seeing his icy façade shatter when it mattered most. In the end, he was willing to sacrifice everything for Lucia. And that? That was worth the ride. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
In "Luka", the fourth instalment of Nicole Cypher's gripping Las Vegas Petrov Bratva series, readers are taken on a thrilling and suspenseful journey filled with unexpected twists.
The story centres around Lucia Valdez, a young woman determined to escape the overprotective confines of her father's compound and forge her own path in America. However, Lucia's plans go awry when she finds herself in the clutches of the notorious Russian Bratva crime syndicate.
Luka Alekseev, a ruthless Bratva enforcer, is faced with the decision to eliminate Lucia after she witnesses one of his crimes. In a shocking turn of events, Luka decides to toy with his captive before ultimately silencing her. What follows is a dark and disturbing tale that delves into themes of power, survival, and the blurred lines between right and wrong.
As the story unfolds, Lucia and Luka find themselves in a dangerous game of cat and mouse, forced to rely on each other despite their mutual distrust. With their lives on the line, they must navigate a treacherous criminal underworld where allegiances are constantly shifting, and betrayal lurks around every corner.
Readers should be advised that the book contains some nonconsensual content that may be unsettling to certain audiences.
Nicole Cypher's vivid and evocative writing style immerses readers in a world of danger, passion, and moral ambiguity.

Wow. Where to begin. I’m loving the books in this series. Mila and her boyfriend were stranded on the side of a Las Vegas road. She wanted to get out from under her father’s controlling behavior. She never saw the outside of their compound until she left with Mario. Mario was trying to flag down cars to stop but no one did. Mila tried and the first person to stop for her was Piper. But when Mila and Mario walked to the car she started to drive away. Mila was able to convince Mario to let her go get help. When Piper passed the gas station on the road Mila was confused. Piper told her that she needed to stop somewhere then she would take her back. Piper had Mila crouch down in the back seat so the person she was meeting wouldn’t see her. Well Piper never ended up leaving. This is where Arseni and Luka come in. They found Mila and they kept her with them. Luka took her back to his place and the next day gave her to Arseni to look over. Well everything changed when she was with Arseni and she took off in his car. She found out where Mario was and she went to him. This is where everything changes.
Luka is book four of the Las Vegas Petrov Bratva Series.
How could anyone read this and not love Luka by the end? He starts out kind of gruff at the start, but he is misunderstood. You think of him as the bad guy because we initially meet him doing bad things. However, if we look underneath he isn't as bad as we are led to believe. Trust me, there are other characters who are a lot worse than him. As the story progresses, we see him do so many great things for Lucia. He was willing to sacrifice a lot for her safety and happiness. I loved this about him.
Lucia was just another amazing female character in this series. I think all of them have their own strengths, but she really had a lot of integrity and didn't want to lose that. She went through some tough things, but she came out of the other side amazingly.
Now onto the other people who do dark and twisted things - enter Arseni. We get set up for Arseni's book so well by showing his deep seated character. It is going to be a dark and twisted story.
A fantastic bratva romance story from Nicole! This is the second one I’ve read from this series, having read vitaly’s story first. I loved Luka and Lucia’s story! I was hooked from the first page and couldn’t put it down!
It starts off dark and borderline difficult to read, luka was a very difficult character to like, but as the story develops and you learn more about him and how his feelings change and grow towards Lucia, it becomes easier to understand his world view and why he is the way he was in the beginning.
I loved the character development shown in Luka and Lucia and how their relationship grew. I also really loved the relationship between Luka and his friend arseni, who was just as awful as Luka in the beginning. I can’t wait to read his story when it is released.
This story had me on the edge of my seat throughout, with the action, violence, drama and the twists and turns at each stage. One of the most gripping and intense stories I’ve read recently!

Luka is quite suspenseful and a page turning mafia romance. The story is captivating from beginning to end, entertaining and an absolute pleasure to read. This book is fabulously written, amazingly balanced with action/romance and beautifully executed by Nicole Cypher. She continues to showcase what a brilliant author she is with each book I’ve read by her so far. The characters are well developed and beautifully executed throughout the story. The main characters of this story are Lucia and Luka. I absolutely adored learning about who these two characters were as the main characters of this story. The chemistry between Lucia and Luka is undeniably irresistible to the point where neither one of them could no longer ignore the feelings they have for each other. If you’re looking for a new mafia romance to read, then you should check out Luka and give it a read. I’m looking forward to reading more phenomenal romances from Nicole Cypher in the future.

I would definitely recommend this book to readers of dark romance. I didn't expect to like Luka before I read this book. I found he was a very complex character. Lucia was a strong, sweet, and forgiving character. She was a naive in the beginning. But that was due to her upbringing. I only gave this book 3 stars because the love angle was rushed. There was no reason for Luka and Lucia to be enemies on one page and in love on the next. Yes, Luka was starting to think about his actions and the reasons he was the way he was, but there wasn't enough time for him to have believably fallen in love with Lucia. Lucia also fell in love with Luka without him ever apologizing for how he treated her throughout the majority of the book. Despite the darker themes, I did like this book.

I love this series! It’s packed with these morally bankrupt characters that manage to find someone to love them in spite of themselves. Luka is an unlikable man, his best friend is just as bad, and Lucia hurtles straight into their murderous path. She’s so different from them: quiet, thoughtful, caring, and naive about so much. Her strengths, dreams, and heart makes this book so interesting and inspiring.
Luka’s behavior is juvenile, selfish, and cruel, but Lucia brings out his slightly better self. He faces up to some of his faults, tries to make some amends, and recognizes some of his self destructive tendencies. I didn’t like how Luka treated her at first, but her patience and intelligence is pivotal in their relationship. It’s not perfect, but Luka shows his vulnerability and feelings to her and his family. I am left with high hopes for them as a couple! I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
I didn’t see that coming! This group of morally gray men have shown me that there is someone for everyone. Seriously. I don’t usually like captor romance but this one has a different vibe. Enemies to lovers done right. Additional twists that make you say what. At this point, I need several more books. Tell me the next one isn’t the end of the series. I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily. You need to read this book if you’re curious about Luka. His story resonated with me because I spent years trying to prove myself. Now I really don’t care what other people think. It’s kind of refreshing to be yourself and do your own thing. Once he has his special moment that changes the story, you will probably feel like a proud parent. Nicole I see what you did there. I’m here for it! Happy reading!
This author brings another absolutely fantastic story! This one is Luka and Lucia's story. It's full of drama, action, danger, intrigue and chaos of course and we definitely see the darkness in Luka. Personally I think I think this book may be a bit darker than the previous ones but I think Luca is a bit darker than the other characters too so... I love Lucia! She's absolute perfection for Luca. She's a take no prisoners kinda girl and has Luka figured out in no time. We're 4 books in the Las Vegas Petrov Bratva series and so far Luka and Arseni are my favorites. Luka can be read and completely enjoyed all on it's own but the whole series is great so don't miss out on any of the books. I can't wait for Arseni's story! This series gets better and better with every book!
The trigger warnings at the beginning includes brutality, graphic violence, and n0n c0n (r8pe). If you think you are okay with brutality amongst mafioso but not when the victims are women, proceed (or not) with caution. A later revelation makes the initial murderous actions of Luka even more brutal. The n0n c0n is perpetuated by the MMC Luka towards the FMC Lucia. This is dark and yet somehow Nicole keeps surprising me, with both the storyline and with me finishing the book not hating Luka. Lucia, protected, innocent, and naïve is a strong resilient young woman. The author has an interesting note about shame and being perceived ‘evil’ for writing dark material, similarly will people judge me ‘evil’ for rating this story 5 stars? This is dark, brutal, and brilliant.

This is the first book I've read from Nicole Cypher. I was utterly engrossed in this story!! The dark mystery, suspense, and situations were unexpectedly captivating. I absolutely loved it. It kept me interested, captivated, and my eyes glued to the pages. I'm not sure what that says about me but I will say that I love exceptional writing and storytelling and this hit the mark. I wasn't sure what would happen next, and I love that. I am probably no different than most people when I say that I am always trying to predict what comes next, and I was unable to do that here. And that's okay. Very okay. I cannot WAIT to read more from this author!.

Firstly I am huge fan of mafia romance, so I read lots of mafia books already. In the beginning I have no idea which way story goes, which I really like, but after like 50-60% of the book it got predictable for me, but I didn’t mind. Our heroine is naive, but she has character growth through the book, not marginal but it is there. On the other hand our “hero” is not hero at all. Usually in mafia books the hero is morally gray and as@holle to everyone else but to heroine. In this book he is prick to everyone and mostly towards our girl. There is some redemption at the end which was kinda nice, but expect rather antihero than knight in shinning armor. To sum it up, it was nice mafia read, be aware of TW as there is violence, spicy scenes and non-con. It is written in 1st dual PoV.
Luka ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Nicole Cypher Luka and Lucia Luka is with the Bratva(Russian Mob) and Lucia who was running away with her boyfriend from Mexico to America. Unbeknownst to her while trying to get help for herself, and her boyfriend that she ran away with she ends up, witnessing a murderer that Luca and his friend committed that they don’t want anybody to find out about. There’s an instant connection between them however, if they both have reasons to not act on it. Will they end up together and make things work or circumstances beyond their control, tear them apart? Nicole did a great job, illustrating and building suspense as well as emotions. Overall, really good book.
Slightly dark, but with a happily ever after. Lucia wants to get away from her guilded prison her father keeps her in. But Lucia experiences quite a bit more than freedom. Lucia kind of jumps from the frying pan into the fire when she trusted the wrong person, more than one in fact. This book was exciting and I loved that Lucia was able to melt the ice around Luka's heart and earn his trust. Luka does not trust easily, so it was quite the feat. I cannot wait to read Arseni's book. Arseni is Luka's most trusted man.

This is such a great, dark, and twisted read with all the gritty, grimey details you can't get enough of. I absolutely love the character arch for the MMC, Luka, who at first thrives on chaos but learns to rein it in. His redemption is tremendous and so satisfying. The FMC, Lucia, is witty, intuitive, and wise beyond her years even as a caged bird. You just can't help but root for them and their well-deserved HEA. This is my first read into the Las Vegas Petrov Bratva series and I will most certainly read Nicole Cypher's other books. Such great writing and plot line that keeps you entangled the whole time!!!
