A Dallas Summer with A Boss

Rate this book
Kadeem and Carmen had the perfect relationship until they didn’t. Five years ago, he chose the streets, and she chose to leave Dallas and do something different with her life.

This summer, Carmen is back in Dallas to help take care of her grandmother and run away from the drama that awaits her at home. While she’s back home visiting, she’ll quickly learn that old feelings never really die; they just fade into the background until you're ready to address them again.

Now that Kadeem is the boss of the Dallas streets, he has everything he’s ever wanted, but someone to share his success with. He doesn’t take running into Carmen as a coincidence, and he’s willing to do just about anything to get her back.

Can Kadeem and Carmen finally get to their happily ever after, or do some things never really change?

Ouuuuu y’all this was soooo good. The way Kadeem stepped behind Carmen was the highlight of the book for me. That man DID NOT play when they were teens when it came to her and he definitely didn’t play even more now as adults. He let Carmen leave to go away for college despite how much she wanted him to go with her but he didn’t because he didn’t want them to resent each other. Well fast forward she’s graduated and now working as a teacher, dating this F boy and decides to go back home for the summer to help her grandma who’s sick while her dad goes out of town for work. Now Carmen’s game plan with going back home was to avoid Kadeem at all cost, chyyyyyy sis failed. She failed so bad she encountered him the same night she got there and went out with her best friends. Welp, let’s just say everything that could happen proceeding that night happened. You got fighting, you got Kadeem putting down, Carmen tell him she don’t know BUT if anything is suppose to happen between them Ivory gotta go. You got Carmen ex popping up, you got money being stolen, Ivory being dumped, family members popping up, a detective with a hard on for Kadeem and his brothers, you got grandma saying bout time they got they ish together cause she was tired of praying for them to come to they senses. I mean you name it, it’s going down and I loved it all. Now I just need Carmen slut bucket ssa momma, Ivory delulu ssa, and her daddy stupid ssa to be unalived and all will be right. I can’t wait to see how things grow between Carmen and Kadeem because when he said he was getting his girl back and applying all the pressure he meant it. Foot on gas, no brakes. And I loved that for Carmen cause she is and forever will be Kadeem’s soft spot and not no other women and that’s on Mary had a little lamb. I truly believed their love held strong despite the 4 year separation so to see them get back to it warmed my little heart. Now I’m waiting for Dre & Kayla story A Dallas Summer with a Shooter!!!! Great story Miss Khemistri!!!!

Love,

Hmmm, 🤨 “interesting⁉️😮‍💨 …My goodness, that’s a lot of responsibilities, life experiences for a minor without any adult supervision for just twenty one years old. I’m assuming Kadeem was caring for a girlfriend, his parents & siblings too🥴‼️Yea, okay if you say so (I guess ?) 🤷🏾‍♀️⁉️Nevertheless, “A Dallas Summer With A Boss (A Dallas Summer Series - Book 1)” (3.75⭐️’s) was a good read until ….💭 Well, I’ll reserve my suspicions, thoughts & or speculations until I’ve read more context in book 2 of this series. However, why make yourself a greater spectacle by publicly harassing, kidnapping & former girlfriend, committ a retaliatory arson & killing affliate members of your enterprise ⁉️Reckless🤦🏾‍♀️‼️

Reunited!!

Kadeem knew this was his second chance to get it right. Carmen knew she wanted Kadeem the moment she laid eyes on him. That love just don't goes away. They had a lot of things in their way. Braden is trash and his mammy, just because you get beat on it's okay. I don't think Carmen wants that for herself. Kayla sand Demi had her back. They said you not going to jump on yor frienf and not face consequences. I thought Kadeem was going to kill his mammy. Ivory is the snake in his camp and a few of his workers. I think it is a few more. Kadeem and Carmen deserves their second chance. Her father orchestrated that all.

Different

Enjoyed this read. I actually appreciate the povs are seperate books between the couples because sometimes a situation gets juicy between couples and then a pov you don’t care for comes next. Like this I can skip the book if I’m not interested, but there are cliff hangers which continue to the next couples books. I love it. Not to mention it’s 4 different tropes I really like! This one was a second chance romance.

Great read

This story, this story, this story! It was nothing short of great. It was about young love, putting your pride to the side so your partner can flourish in life, and some street activity. I enjoyed the story about Khadeem and Carmen. The ups, the downs, the emotional roller coaster, and patience. It's fast-paced, but nothing was left out. I read this in a few short hours and moved on to the next book in the series.

Loved it

There are so many things that needs to be solved, and quick. Them brothers are nothing to play with. I wonder why her mother just up and left her child, then have the nerve to raise someone eles. Them folks are barking up the wrong tree. I know these brothers are going to figure it out and kill them.

Carmen returns home for the summer and reunites with Kadeem, her high school boyfriend. There's drama with her cheating, abusive ex and there's drama with his very recent ex.
Kadeem is unhinged and sometimes needlessly violent....but the romance was cute.

Kadeem and Carmen are ex-lovers and friends who fell apart when Kadeem wanted street life and Carmen wasn't prepared to go along for the ride. But now she's home for the summer and he's determined to win her back, no matter what. Plus, someone is coming for the empire he runs with his brothers. Can they handle everything?

I liked most of this. I liked how Kadeem was brash, and arrogant, but he was also a man in love who wasn't afraid to let down his guard. Carmen was a good character and her misgivings made sense. Her friends were funny and you could see where the story was building to. Kadeem's brothers were good characters as they were introduced. I wish it hadn't been quite so dramatic in some places, and I thought it needed some editing. Some of Carmen's introspection felt a bit rambly and I thought some dialogue to break up the huge swaths of internal monologue would have made it flow easier. But it was enjoyable.
