But when she discovers Cam’s also a soldier, she retreats, unable to risk another loss.
Cam has never felt such a strong connection, and he won’t give up without a fight. But will Cam’s persistence and the magic of Christmas be enough to convince Harper to take a chance on them?
Nan Reinhardt is a writer of romantic fiction for women in their prime. Yeah, women still fall in love and have sex, even after 45! Imagine! She is also a wife, a mom, a mother-in-law, and a grandmother. She’s been an antiques dealer, a bank teller, a stay-at-home mom, a secretary, and for the last 17 years, she’s earned her living as a freelance copyeditor and proofreader.
But writing is Nan’s first and most enduring passion. She can’t remember a time in her life when she wasn’t writing—she wrote her first romance novel at the age of ten, a love story between the most sophisticated person she knew at the time, her older sister (who was in high school and had a driver’s license!) and a member of Herman’s Hermits. If you remember who they are, you are Nan’s audience! She’s still writing romance, but now from the viewpoint of a wiser, slightly rumpled, menopausal woman who believes that love never ages, women only grow more interesting, and everybody needs a little sexy romance. Her first novel Rule Number One is available at Amazon.com and Barnes&Noble.com. The other two, Once More From the Top and Sex and the Widow Miles — the first novels in the Women of Willow Bay series, are available exclusively at Amazon. Looking for a fabulous Christmas story filled with emotion then this is the one to pick up, although part of a series it can be read as a stand-alone, it is a heart-warming and beautiful story, a must read.
Teacher and artist Harper Gaines lost her soldier husband two years ago still grieving, Harper packs up her house and travels around to see if she can find herself again she soon finds herself in River’s Edge with her two aunts, will his be the place that will see the real Harper return, maybe when she meets Cameron Walker.
Cameron has lived in River’s Edge all of his life and he loves it and his job as a carpenter and cabinet maker he loves everything Christmas and is well loved by everyone, he is searching for an artist to help him finish the gift he has made for his Mum for Christmas, when shown some samples of the niece of good friends he knows that she is the one to do the artwork, that is if he can convince the shy and sad Harper, but Cameron never gives up.
As they get closer Harper seems to be opening up and Cameron is showing her all of the Christmas functions around town, can Harper put her husband to rest finally and find love again or the fact the Cameron is a reservist soldier put a spanner in the works, as for Cameron he has never felt a pull so strong before and he will do everything he can to win her heart.
I loved this beautiful story so much, filled with emotion as Harper and Cameron find their way to such a beautiful HEA and it is a gorgeous Christmas story, fabulous characters it left me smiling.
My thanks to Tule Publishing for my digital copy to read and review.
I loved Made for Mistletoe Book 3 of The Walkers of River's Edge. I wish I lived in River’s Edge and knew the Walker family. This family is so special. Harper came to River’s Edge needing a change, she’s still mourning the loss of her husband two years ago. Cam knew the second he met Harper how special she was to him and he’s determined to bring her back to life, even if she insists on keeping him at a distance. Slowly he brings her out if her shell and worms his way into her heart but he’s and solider and she doesn’t know if she can go through that again. You will laugh and cry. I loved the story and the characters. I can’t wait for Annabelle’s story. I would definitely recommend this book and the series.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Harper has come to River’s Edge to try and come to terms with the death of her husband. She is staying with her Aunt’s and living in the flat above their quilt shop in town. She helps out by developing new quilt patterns for them and really wants nothing more than to live a quiet life. However, she doesn’t bargain on Cameron Walker coming into the shop and asking her to paint a wooden chest he has made for his mothers Christmas. She refuses but neither Cameron or her Aunts give up. Her Aunts stage an intervention and persuade her to have a look at the chest and also to go and talk to the local gallery owner about maybe working there. With a heavy heart she agrees but could this be what she needs, can letting others into her life bring back some brightness? The more time she spends with Cameron and others, the more she gets her zest for life back. When a disaster happens and Cameron has to leave, as he is an Army Reserve, can Haper cope? Will this end their relationship? This was my first book by this author and it will not be my last. I really enjoyed the characters. The growth and development of Harper was well written, I liked seeing her begin to trust and enjoy life again. The Aunts were a delight, they brought so much caring and fun to the plot. Cameron was a great character and a good foil for Harper. His obvious love for his carpentry came through and his love for his family and friends was so evident. The community spirit was lovely to read, the way they rallied round to help those for whom disaster struck was wonderful. Another delightful book to read at Christmas snuggled up in the warmth. This is the third book in the series but I didn’t feel lost, not having read the previous ones. I will be going back to do so.
Marvelous!!! Nan took this lost love couple, and intertwined them into a beautiful romance. Harper lost her husband who was stationed in Kuwait. There was no war going on at the time. But Drew still lost his life in a truck accident caused by a huge sandstorm. Harper felt like she died that day right along with him.
Cameron Walker was left at the altar by the woman of his dreams, so he thought !
Harper gets in her car and just starts driving. She is so lost in her thoughts of Drew and the life they will never have. Eventually, she ends up in River edge with her two Aunt’s. Cameron is looking for someone to paint the chest that he made his mother for Christmas. He comes into the quilt shop to talk to the Aunt’s, someone mentioned there might be someone there that could help him with the drawings on the chest he was making. Harper was very reluctant at first. She had no experience with painting on furniture. But she was trying to move on with her life. She needed to get an apartment which means she needed a job. So eventually she gave in. Cameron just won her over with his sweetness, kindness, and genuine heart. The story is just so well written! I enjoyed all the references to my beautiful state of Michigan. There was just so much grief and loss that was turned into such a beautiful, loving, caring romance. I definitely wish I could give it more than five stars. I do highly recommend it. Don’t let them mention of grief or loss deter you from reading this Christmas story. You will feel those emotions as you’re reading, but the outcome is so well worth it. ENJOY! Well done Nan 🩷
Another lovely journey to Rivers Edge. I love this series. There are several different series about the families who live in the town, but they center around the intricacy of the town hub. I love seeing the characters I have fallen in love with reappear in each book, even if it isn't their story. It rounds out the story and ties all of the books together.
This installment focuses on Cam and Harper. Cam was stood up at the altar five years ago. Harper lost her husband in an accident overseas. The coming together of these two heals wounds and helps to make them whole again for each other. I appreciated how the author doesn't sugarcoat Harper's feelings and the stages of grief. It takes her some time to accept that Drew is gone and that he would want her to be happy. Cam fell in love the moment he saw Harper, and since he was jilted in his last relationship, it is good to see him happy again.
I love that it is set around Christmas, too...even though we haven't hit a few other holidays, this is a perfect read for the holidays or anytime, really! It brings up the hopes of Christmas and the spirit around this holiday.
You won't be disappointed if you read anything by this author.
Great addition to the River's Edge series! This one brings strong characters in Harper and Cameron. The author takes you into their lives with them dealing with loss and grief on her part and abandonment on his along with a ton of emotions and all the feels. She moves the story fluidly with her perfectly painted scenes and delivers a terrific read.
I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book. All opinions in this review are my own and are freely given.
Made for Mistletoe is the third book in Nan Reinhardt’s fabulous series, The Walkers of River’s Edge. The series is set in the lovely little town of River’s Edge, Indiana and features the Walker family. Many of the businesses and people that we’ve met in the prior books set here are part of this story. This book is Cameron Walker’s story. We were introduced to him in his family’s stories. He is a reservist and designs custom wood furniture in his workshop. In addition, he is a carpenter in the family business. We learn that he was left at the altar by his fiancée five years earlier and hasn’t had any relationships since.
As the book opens, Cam has just made a beautiful piece for his mom for Christmas. He has discovered an artist’s drawings and wants to commission her to put her designs on his mom’s gift. Cam goes to meet Harper Gaines at her aunts quilt shop and ask her to take on his project. Harper had lost her soldier husband a couple years earlier while he was away on a mission. She has been unable to get on with her life as she has been paralyzed with grief. Her aunts and her parents are very worried about her. When they learn that Cam wants to hire her they are very excited and try to convince her to work with him. She knows he’s a soldier in the reserves and doesn’t want to have any contact with him because of her fears. Eventually she is convinced to take his job and the two work together on his project. She isn’t certain what she wants to do about the future. After meeting some of the other people in River’s Edge, she decides to get her own apartment. She also accepts a job working for the Arts Council in town with Cam’s cousin’s wife.
Cam realizes that Harper is the one for him and decides to convince her that they belong together. This is an uphill battle as she is still struggling with her grief as well as her fears about getting involved with another soldier. Cam is very much in the Christmas spirit and the town is full of it too. He includes Harper in the various activities in spite of her reluctance to participate. I have so much empathy for her tragic past and am rooting for the couple to overcome their difficulties. Nan has created such genuine and lovable characters in this book and series. I love the interactions between the family, friends and their significant others. There is lots of angst and sweet romance between Harper and Cam in this book. The author has created another wonderful story to add to the River’s Edge collection. This is a five star book I highly recommend. I look forward to reading the next book in the series.
I was fortunate to receive this ARC from Tule Publishing in exchange for my honest review.
Made for Mistletoe by Nan Reinhardt is the 3rd book of The Walkers of River’s Edge series. We meet Harper Gaines, who lost her husband, stationed in Kuwait, in a truck accident caused by a major sandstorm. Harper is still grieving almost 2 years later, and decides to leave her home town to drive away, and ends up in River’s Edge, where her two Aunt’s live. Mary and Dot Higgins are happy to see Harper, and they offer her to stay at their place; though she is close to her aunts, all she wants is to be left alone to continue to grieve. Mary and Dot are determined to help her overcome her intense grief and learn to live her life again.
Cameron Walker loves everything about River’s Edge, always celebrating with his huge big family, as well as carving more of his custom design furniture at his studio. Cameron wants to find someone who can paint a chest for his mother for Christmas, and when he meets Harper, who is the niece of a family friend; he is determined to convince her to help him paint the chest. At first, Harper refuses to paint a chest, as she is not really familiar working on furniture. In a short time, Harper agrees to help, and they become fast friends.
As their friendship grew, Cam made it his goal to help Harper learn to live life again, and remind her what she is missing. Cam knew he was falling hard for Harper, and hoped she would overcome her grief. Cam was the prefect one for her, always happy with his life, and eventually winning her over with his kindness and heart. The people in River’s Edge were great, and slowly Harper began to feel accepted; meeting new women friends, such as Jazz, Anna, meeting all of the Walker family, getting an apartment over Mac and Carly place (giving her a place to sketch and paint). I loved seeing Harper begin to blossom and slowly find love with Cam, and making many new friends in River’s Edge.
Made for Mistletoe was a wonderful addition to this wonderful The Walkers of River’s Edge series. Made for Mistletoe was a sweet romance, wonderful couple, fun, great secondary characters, and learning to move on from intense grief. Once again, Nan Reinhardt gives us another wonderful story in River’s Edge, which was so very well written. No surprise, as I love all of her previous books. If you enjoy romance, great couple, wonderful secondary characters, and fantastic small town, I suggest you read this book. Can’t wait to see what is next.
It is my privilege to offer this review of Nan Reinhardt’s Made for Mistletoe, the third story in her The Walkers of River’s Edge series. Full disclosure: I’ve read every River’s Edge story ever written and I’m a devout champion of the sleepy little town and her incredible inhabitants.
Harper Gaines is visiting her two aunts, Mary and Dot Higgins, who own the Seams Pieceful Quilt Shop. No wonder some people believe that English is a difficult language! LOL! For two years Harper has been traveling aimlessly near the Great Lakes. Harper was a newly married wife with a new starter house and a husband that was called up for a tour in Kuwait. There’s no fighting there. Surely all will be fine, but it wasn’t. Her husband died in a truck wreck during a sandstorm. Two people died that day, her husband and Harper. Now her two aunts are hoping that River’s Edge and her people will work their magic on Harper.
The first time that Harper meets Cameron Walker, he’s wearing his National Guard fatigues, and it closes her down emotionally. One thing that the people of River’s Edge do not lack is determination. Cameron needs Harper’s artistic help with a chest he built for his mother. Finally, she agrees, and they become fast friends. The completed chest is magnificent and now they are begged to build more. Harper gets a job teaching Art with Jazz, and she even rents Mac and Carly’s apartment where everyone as previously lived. Progress is being made and kisses are exchanged. Just as Christmas is approaching, next door Missouri has an earthquake and Cameron must ship out. Will Cameron stay safe and can Harper survive?
Made for Mistletoe is a wonderful addition to our River’s Edge library. Many authors write specific aspects of a story well. Examples include the setting, young or old characters, male or female characters, pets, horses, mountains, seashores, even weather. In my opinion, no author writes about the closeness of a couple better than Nan Reinhardt. It’s tangible. The reader can feel how much they care. It’s truly remarkable, and so is this story. Rating: 5+ STARS!
Two years ago, Harper Gaines husband Drew was killed in an accident while serving in the Army in the Middle East. She’s still mourning his loss. After quitting her job as an art teacher and going on a road trip to try to help her get over her grief, she winds up in River’s Edge, Indiana, where her aunts live and run a quilting store. She has no plans beyond lending a hand in the store.
Cameron Walker, a National Guard Reservist, has just returned from Florida, where he was assisting in hurricane relief. While there, he received photographs of some artwork. He hopes to convince the artist, whoever it might be, to decorate a gift he’s making for his mother. Things don’t get off to a great start.
This is a small town romance that will delight the reader. It’s filled with friendly and helpful people, and it offers hope. The story develops around Christmas and the many ways there are to celebrate the holiday.
If you enjoy military romances tinged with a touch of sadness, just a touch, this book might be a good choice for you. Watching as Harper heals and overcomes her fear of additional loss was inspiring.
The writing was exceptional, and I look forward to the next book in this series. This is the third book in this series, and the second that I’ve read. It can very easily be read as a standalone. The characters are sweet, caring, and always willing to step in to help whoever’s in need.
I enjoyed this book very much, and I highly recommend it.
I received an advanced reader copy of this book from the publisher, Tule. I thank all involved for their generosity in sharing this book, but it had no effect on this review. All opinions in this review reflect my true and honest reactions to reading this book.
I'm really enjoying this series by Nan Reinhardt. The books are romances but they all address serious issues. Book 3 looks at grief after the death of a spouse and making a decision to live your life despite your grief.
Cam is in the Army reserves and is always happy after a deployment to get back to his large family in River's Edge. He's making a dower chest for his mother for Christmas and he needs someone to paint some folk-art pictures on the completed chest. He sees some sketches made by an artist who is currently living with her aunts. When Cam asks Harper if she will do the painting, she totally refuses and won't even talk to him. Harper isn't really interested in getting to know Cam or anyone else in town. Her husband had died in Afghanistan two years earlier and she is still grieving him to the point that she just wants to be left alone. Cam is interested in her as an artist and as a woman so he makes it his goal to help her learn to live life again and remind her of what she's been missing. Will Cam and the people of River's Edge be successful in convincing Harper to enjoy life again and will the sparks between them result in a happily ever after?
I really enjoyed both of the main characters. Cam was always so happy with life and really wanted to help Harper even if they were never more than friends. Harper and her grief were very realistic. It's a difficult step to learn to enjoy life again after the death of a spouse. I also enjoyed the people of the town who all worked together to make Harper feel accepted. I was pulling for a romance for Harper and Cam from the first time the met and definitely enjoyed their journey to love.
We are back in River’s Edge where another of the Walker siblings finds love , though the ride will be a bumpy one. Cameron Walker, an Army reservist, works as a carpenter in the family’s construction business, and is also a very talented cabinet/custom design woodworker. When he decides the chest he’s making for his Mom for Christmas, needs a special talent with design he’s not sure he has, he seeks out Harper Gaines. Harper lost her military husband two years ago, and has yet to recover from that loss. After all the pity looks back home, visiting her aunts in River’s Edge, might be just what she needs. She’s a former art teacher and a very talented artist but is not inclined to get involved in Com’s project. No matter how attractive he is. He’s military, and she vowed never to get involved again with one. One loss is more than she can handle. But as these two get to know each other and Harper is finally convinced to help Cam, feelings do develop. Just being with Cam and his love of all Christmas , starts lifting Harper’s spirits. But what happens when he’s called to duty during a natural disaster? Will that be the end of the budding relationship? Will both their hearts be broken, or will Harper realize that life is full of second chances in life and love? This was another touching story in the series. One that deals with grieve as well as loving a military person. The plot was engaging. At times heartbreaking but also heartwarming and a reminder that Christmas is a time of rebirth and new beginnings. I was entrusted a copy of this book by Tule Publishing. We The opinions expressed are solely my own.
This book is an absolutely beautiful love story between Cameron Walker and Harper Gaines. Cameron is the most loving and patient man and Harper is brave to stick out her hand and offer it to another soldier. This is the beautiful story that tells you how to come from being totally devastated to giving life a second chance and finding a life-long love.
Cameron is the biggest fan of Christmas and loves the way they celebrate in Rivers Edge, Indiana. Everyone decorates and takes Christmas to a whole new level, sometimes having 2 or 3 Christmas trees. The stores go all out for the celebration. And he loves either making or buying gifts for those he loves. He is an Army reservist and spends a lot of time on his custom design furniture when not on duty. Right now he is working on a chest for his mother and needs someone to paint drawings on the chest.
Harper is a teacher and artist and has come to River's Edge from Michigan. She lost her husband in a truck accident while he was stationed in Kuwait. Even though it was almost 3 years ago she is still having trouble letting go and getting on with her life. It is like everything died the day that Drew died. One day she just got in her car and drove ending up here in River's Edge with her two aunts. They own a quilt shop and she helps them with designs for the quilts. Cameron comes in trying to find someone to help him with painting the chest for his mother. Harper has never painted on wood and turns down the job, but with Cameron being persistent she finally decides to give it a try. And where do we go from here? Is Cameron able to being Harper back to life and help her with her future?
This is book three in The Walker’s of Rivers Edge and it is Cameron and Harper’s story. Harper is a teacher and artist but after the death of her husband who was a soldier two years ago she is still struggling so she decided to try and move forward as best as she can while still grieving and that is how she ended up in Rivers Edge hoping that she can start to heal and eventually feel like herself again after everything that has happened and what she had been through. Cameron is a carpenter and cabinet maker and he loves his job, family and Rivers Edge which is where he had lived all his life and with Christmas approaching he is excited because he loves everything about this time of the year. When Cameron needs an artist to help him complete a special Christmas present for his mum it is Harper’s work that had him convinced that she was the right person to help him. When Harper and Cameron meet there is definitely a attraction between them and everything seems to be going well until Harper finds out that Cameron is a reservist soldier and that completely shuts her down because she can’t lose anyone else. Harper and Cameron are so perfect together and for each other so will he be able to convince her that they are meant to be together before it is too late and they both miss out on happiness and a future together. This is a beautiful and poignant story of loss, love, hope, emotions, sadness, trust, moving forward, taking chances, healing after loss and taking a second chance of love and I really enjoyed reading this beautiful Christmas and magical story. I recommend you read this book and you will not be disappointed and I can’t wait to read more books in the future.
Can Cam sprinkle a little Christmas magic around Harper’s heart and convince her his love is here to stay? Made for Mistletoe is a sweet holiday romance set in the picturesque town of River’s Edge. Nan Reinhardt is the queen of heartwarming small-town romance, especially when it’s Christmastime. This romance is all about the magic of Christmas and taking a chance on love. You’ll fall in love with this couple, as I did. The descriptive narration will have you dreaming of a white Christmas. If you’re like me and adore Hallmark holiday romances, you have to read Made for Mistletoe.
Relationships are hard, especially when one is an army soldier. Cameron Walker knows first-hand life is fleeting so it’s best to embrace each moment. When he meets Harper, he’s never felt such an intense connection. Before he realizes what’s happened, she backs away. Cam sets out to show Harper love can overcome fear.
Cam and Harper are my new favorite couple of this series. They are easy to connect with and will steal your heart. Will they or won’t they kept me glued to the story.
Made for Mistletoe is a holiday romance with plenty of emotion. This story would make for a great Hallmark movie. Take my advice and pick up Made for Mistletoe today. It’ll delight all your senses.
Widowed Harper Gaines is trying to hide from her pain of loosing her husband and she thought River's Edge and her aunts who own a business here would be the perfect place. She was an art teacher and artist in her own right. But even though she was dabbling with her art, she still good not hide the pain of her loss. Until Cameron Walker hears about her talent and needs her to help him with a Christmas gift he is making for his mother. Cam is a talented carpenter but to finish this gift he need Harper's talents.
Cam is just back from his stint in the army reserves, not knowing that Harper's husband had died overseas while in the army in a freak accident. When she finds out what he does when not working for the family business she will not have anything to do with another solider. Cam and his friends and family help him to work the magic of River's Edge and there is no time like Christmas to bring Harper back to the land of the living and help Cam with his project.
This was a wonderful story and all the Christmas feels will make you want to put up your holiday decorations and feel the spirt of the season and all the romance it brings. i loved Harper and Cam's story and how he does not give up on Harper.
A book that has to be added to your Christmas reading.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Even after numerous books set in River's Edge, I want to live there more than ever with each book! Made for Mistletoe just adds to it! All the holiday happenings make me yearn for the holidays to happen right now with their many traditions and community spirit. What a wonderful community to live in. That doesn't mean that the people don't have serious issues at times. Harper has moved here to be close to her aunts and try hard to overcome her intense grief when she lost her soldier husband. She doesn't see any way out of that spiral of grief. The author has written this so beautifully that it made me feel Harper's sadness and emotions. I didn't see any way Harper was going to be happy again, but I was rooting for her! Cam Walker was just the opposite! He is a cheerful, giving person who immediately senses Harper is going to change his life. Even if he can't have her for the rest of his life, he will strive to bring joy to her and have her as a friend. He wants to help her overcome her sadness and use her talents as an artist to help him with a project for his mother's Christmas present. I loved seeing Harper blossom into a joyful person again even though it was slow. That was realistic! Come back to River's Edge and enjoy the holidays!
Made for Mistletoe by Nan Reinhardt In this story we find Cameron and he's home and working on a Christmas gift for his mom. He does other works for the neighbors and businesses, making cabinets and other carpentry work. He has the perfect designs that he saw from a local woman and wants her to paint them on the dresser. He meets Harper but she's still suffering from the grief of losing her spouse. He had a military accident and it still effects things she does. She did get out more often and even has her own apartment, goes to yoga with women and enjoys her time. She did finally accept to work with Cameron on the gift. They will experiment with the paints to find the right colors. He is called away to help with an earthquake in another town and she knows she has to end it with him. She can not cope with a military man that she cares for, dying in an accident. Love hearing about all the towns festivities and how much others in the town are there for her. so supportive. Love his large family and how they wrap themselves around her also. Great festive read. Received this review copy from Tule Publishing and this is my honest opinion.
Made for Mistletoe ~ The Walkers of River's Edge #3 by Nan Reinhardt
This book is yet another masterpiece from Nan, it has great characters and a wonderful, believable storyline. Made for Mistletoe has been written extremely well, it had me engaged from start to finish. The way Nan writes her stories has you falling in love with the characters from the start, and they come across as real people. You are drawn into the story and you feel that you too are there.
Here we have Cam Walker, who is a carpenter and has designed a lovely piece of furniture for his mum as a Christmas present. However, he would like to decorate it, he has been given the name of Harper Gaines whose work has been recommended by her aunts. Can both Harper and Cam get a second chance at a HEA? want to find out? Join Harper and Cam on their journey towards friendship, love, and everything in between. Don't miss out on this incredible story that will leave you feeling satisfied and wanting more, I highly recommend it to all:)
Reasons I enjoyed this book: Easy-to-read, Entertaining, Great world building, Informative, Inspirational, Page-turner, Romantic, Realistic, and Wonderful characters
I’ve loved the Indiana town of River’s Edge every time I’ve been taken there in another Nan Reinhardt story so was thrilled to get started on Made For Mistletoe, which is set there. This town embodies community and family spirit and that was certainly the case in this strongly Christmas-themed story, which had every shop window bedecked with Christmas cheer. Of course this is a feel-good story but with fantastic characters, both in terms of Cameron Walker and Harper Gaines, and in terms of their support cast. Cameron was left standing at the altar years earlier bt his then fiancee and has been avoiding relationships ever since. Harper was widowed two-years earlier when her soldier husband Drew was involved in a truck rollover in Kuwait. As the story opens she is still grieving. Despite their back-stories, both Cameron and Harper feel a spark of attaction almost immediately. I loved the way these two grew together and healed each other through her art and his wonderful carpentry skills, which enabled them to build both a friendship and a romance. This book is another fabulous addition to the River’s Edge collection and one I’ll happily read again.
A heartwarming Christmas romance - Cameron and Harper have both had their heartaches, neither looking for a relationship. The magic of River's Edge changes that when he insists on her using her artistic talent to assist him with his mom's Christmas gift. Helped along by the caring denizens of the town, Harper slowly exits her shell of sadness and gives herself over to the spirit of the season. Cam's enthusiasm for all things Christmas doesn't hurt either. But he's a soldier and can be deployed anywhere anytime at the government's whim. She can't lose someone else she loves. How would her heart survive such a loss again?
Another wonderful tale in the series with characters who feel like family (the Walkers, Higgins and other townspeople really are great folks) and a message of love that warms my heart. Cameron took the time to get to understand Harper's fears and doubts, and shared his story with her. And he didn't give up on trying to win her heart, just gave her the space she needed to allow herself to live and love again.
I am enjoying this series and look forward to more.

A beautiful, heartfelt, emotional story. Teacher and artist Harper Gaines comes to River’s Edge full of grief and sadness for the loss of the life she had with her husband Drew after he died. Meeting Army reservist Cameron Walker has Harper in conflict. Cameron is handsome and his joy of life and the holidays renews Harper as she slowly starts healing and forging friendships and a new life for herself. Cameron is kind and patient, knowing that Harper is the one and he gently helps her to heal and fall in love with life again. I loved Harper and Cameron’s story, their relationship and their friendships and families are so important to them and I loved watching Harper grow and develop a new life and love amongst the community of River’s Edge. I loved returning to a place that feels so special and comfortable that I feel like I’m home. This one is emotional and beautifully written, a perfect book for the holidays!
This is a sweet, poignant story of love, loss and healing set in a small town at Christmas time. Harper, a teacher and artist, is still grieving the loss of her soldier husband and has just moved to River’s Edge. Cameron’s family has lived in River’s Edge all of his life and he a talented carpenter who makes custom furniture. He is also an Army reservist, which Harper doesn’t discover until after they have made a connection, a connection both believe could lead to something more than friendship. This discovery leads Harper to pull back and distance herself from Cameron in order to guard her heart from more loss. Cameron is patient, steadfast and compassionate as he sets out to win Harper’s heart and show her that love is worth fighting for and taking risks. Their story is captivating and has a wonderful conclusion that made my heart happy.
This was my first introduction to Rivers Edge, and I must say — this is a town I would love to live in. If you’re looking for hallmark Christmas movie vibes with a half dash of spice, this one is for you. I felt like this was focused more on emotional healing vs action, but every scene in this book added to the growth of the mains, Harper and Cameron. I read this one not having any clue about any other characters in the Rivers Edge novels, but will probably be going back to read about them, even though the author did an excellent job and incorporating relevant previous information into the current story. I felt the rollercoaster and family love as each person in the story helped guide Harper and Cameron to be their best but not overstep.
Thank you, Nan, for allowing me to read and review this feel good growth story. I loved every little thing about it, right down to Misty and Chairman Meow. It was perfect to begin the holiday season with.
Cameron is home at River's Edge in time for Christmas, he's a reservist and has been helping in Florida where there were lots of people with problems due to the hurricane. He works on his family's ranch but also is a cabinetmaker, he's made a trunk for his mother for Christmas and needs it decorating. Harper has arrived in River's Edge by chance, she's staying with her aunts, who run a craft shop. Cameron has seen her art and wants her to paint the trunk, but Harper is still recovering from the death of her husband, who was in the forces. Gradually she is brought back into living, but can Cameron persuade her to decorate the trunk for him? Can he get her to enjoy Christmas again? Can Harper come to terms with Cameron being in the reserves?

Book three in this series is as wonderful as the first two and I was thrilled to be back in the lovely town of Rivers Edge. Although this is Harper Gaines and Cam Walker's love story the characters from the previous books are always part of the narrative creating a true small town vibe. Harper and Cam are two "broken" people" who never thought they would have the capacity to love again. The empathic approach to being a military wife (Harper) and an army reservist (Cam) made for an emotional romance. Setting the story at Christmastime added a magical touch. I also loved the way this people of River's Edge stepped up to help during a natural disaster. I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own. I highly recommend spending the afternoon escaping to the lovely town of River's Edge.
Made for Mistletoe by Nan Reinhardt is a Christmas story of two people who have losses, are committed to recovery and healing while finding that life has not passed them by. Cameron Walker is an army reservist who is celebrating Christmas with family. What is not to like about the wonderful guy. Needing help, he looks to the visiting niece of a family friend, Harper Gaines.
Both have had losses in life and some disappointment that would be difficult to recover, but life does go on. I liked how they became friends which lead to more. This is not a sad story even though it some strong aspects of grief after a loved one dies. More of a celebration of family, life and the blessings one still has. A wonderful holiday story taking place at River’s Edge.
This book is a beautiful love story; full of sweet and tender moments and lots of emotion. I always enjoy a book that has real life situations; Harper and Cam’s story definitely fit that category. Cam is a soldier and Harper is mourning the loss of her soldier husband. Cam has trust issues after being dumped on his wedding day. Together, they help each other through their fears and worries and build a strong relationship. But it doesn’t come without a few bumps along the way. This is an amazing memorable story.
Harper and Cam have both been hurt by their past, but he was angered by his ex fiancée’s actions, losing her husband in a military training mission continues to devastate her years later. Cam was kind of pushy trying to get Harper to see him romantically when she’d needed to work on herself and what would make her happy again first. I love that she found new ways to use her art and teaching skills and the dower chest they worked on together. They both have some trauma because of the military and she needs to decide if she’s willing to risk her heart again.
Made for Mistletoe is book 3 in the Walkers of River’s Edge by Nan Reinhardt 4.5 stars
