The Pack

Rate this book
When a pack of werewolves start hunting and killing in Pine View County, Texas, Sheriff Garrett Lambert must end the carnage. This task becomes even more urgent when three people he cares about are bitten and become infected. If Sheriff Lambert cannot find and kill the alpha werewolf that infected them by the next full moon, they will become cursed. With the help of his teenage daughter, Paige, best friend and deputy, Tyrone “Ty” Jackson, an English professor who specializes in the occult and folklore, Dr. James Huff, a Native American of the indigenous Cato tribe, Trowa Raintree, and an elemental witch with the gift of sight who is a decedent of Marie Laveau, Lola Laveau, Garrett becomes the hunter.

Keeps you glued to it!

I love werewolf novels, and long reads. Especially with small towns and badass sheriffs. This was perfect! There was even a little bit, the right amount, of comedy to it. The lore in this was well written and expressed. There’s ample explanation and backstory, no real plot holes, and the ending was near perfect. I highly recommend this book and look forward to further additions to the series.

Excellent book!

This book was excellent. The character development, the scene descriptions, everything. You can tell the good book by the way you feel at the end. If you feel like you're going to miss the characters, it was a good book.

This is a very well written, exciting book to read. The flow is smooth and transcends you to exactly where the writer intended. You are able to in vision the horrific scenes in your mind and the terror that the characters must feel. I liked the character friendships and family support mentioned throughout. It made the story even more realistic and a refreshing look at how people can come together in crisis. The Pack has some traditional ways to the werewolf lore approach and some new ways that make this story even more fun to read. Don't get me wrong this is a horror story at it's best there is plenty of gore and visceral throughout. However, it is written in such a way that you are on the journey of the story and therefore in for an exciting and fun read. Great characters, wonderful flow a perfect book that follows lore of the werewolf and all of it's curse and darkness. I enjoyed this very much and look forward to more from this author as well as the continuation of this trilogy! I hope the trilogy includes the same characters and just moves us in for more horror and lore.

What an intense book, there are times you've stopped breathing without even realizing it. Your rushing through some passages as though you were the one in danger, needing to escape the clutches of the beast. I fell in love with the families that got caught up in this nightmare. The characters histories are well fleshed out, including those that didn't make it for long. You felt their fear, so raw and palpable. I can not wait for the next installment, book 2. It had heart, those whose souls were honest and true, there was sacrifice and loss. Horror that made goosebumps and the hairs on your neck stand up. A definite must read!!!!

Excellent werewolf horror. The kind that makes you afraid of the dark.
***SPOILER: The only part I truly have a problem with is is the rape, incest, and beastiality that the werewolf alpha plans to put the teenager thru. Granted it doesn't happen and is to highlight how absolutely vile and evil the beast is, but it's too detailed. Would heve been better with just innuendo. May be a trigger for some and really disturbed me (and I don't disturb easily).***
