Reuben Schiller is just who he is. He may have finally had his diagnosis of something with far too many capital letters, but he takes his meds like clockwork and goes to work and…he’s fine. Honestly. He’s fine with the insane shifts, he’s fine with living with his dad, and he’s even fine with driving his trusty old rust bucket of a car around the fine city of London. It’s all bought and paid for, the car. And Reuben is finally growing up. And feeling it.

Graham Smith may have once been an ordinary teenager, but these days, he goes by The Dieter, the biggest pop star on the planet, and he’s honestly lost the will to actually…live. He’s guarded by a team of ever-changing security guards twenty-four seven in a house he bought on a whim. He hates it. Almost as much as he hates his mobile phone, his bandmates and the goddamn awful vegan grain salad he keeps getting fed for lunch. His life is supposed to be all sex, drugs and rock ’n’ roll. Instead, it’s…some kind of unhinged circus.

Reuben’s life is about as rock ’n’ roll as a bacon sandwich. And Graham? Graham just wants everything to stop. Even if it means giving up everything he’s spent the past ten years working for…for a single bed in a council bedsit somewhere in the dodgy part of Peckham.

TRUST is a full-length, low-angst, steamy romance between the biggest pop star in the world…and a guy who can’t even trust himself.

Book 5 in the London Love series, this book is a standalone, even though the book still takes place at The Clouds hotel.

Content warnings: Past drug use, and brief mentions of past parental neglect.

I enjoyed this one so much! It had the same vibes as Breathe and Exhale, and thankfully there was only one mention of the annoyance that is Mabel - yes I totally skipped Mabel's book because I just hated that character!

Reuben and Graham reminded me a lot of Ryan and Luke from Breathe. They're pretty clueless and have no idea how to be in a relationship, but Graham decides that they are, so there 😂 I love how they're both bratty, yet they both also look after each other really well. Even though their relationship is totally weird and kinda happens out of nowhere, they really did fit together so well.

Reuben's dad Stewart was a great character too, making sure his boys understood things that they previously had been so confused over. It was refreshing to see a parental character who is just as all in and supportive as the MCs are!

I also really liked how barely any of this book took place in the hotel environment - it was minimal and the story worked way better for it. I felt with books 2 and 3 that their jobs kind of overpowered the relationship aspect of the story, which is fair enough because of all of the characters were workaholics, but their relationships all felt convenient because they worked together? I'm not sure how else to explain it, but with Reuben and Graham, everything was kind of pushing against them and they overcome it all.

I would have liked a bit more emotional content also where they really figure themselves out. I was so close to getting that feel that I'm looking for with characters, but it just fell a little short and I think it's because of the type of character's they both were - because they didn't have a clue about a lot of things going on in their life, I guess it was hard for them to really know themselves and each other at that level? The epilogue was really sweet too, but I would have liked to see them going through the adoption process etc. because I think that was the kind of soul searching and character development I was looking for.

Book safety, content warnings, and tropes down below.

When I got home that evening, he was in the kitchen, and I just swept him up. Hugged the shit out of him and pressed a small kiss into his neck. Boundaries. I still struggled a bit with those. “G,” he said sternly. “I’m not your boyfriend.” “Talks like a boyfriend. Walks like a boyfriend.” I smacked a kiss on his cheek. “Boyfriend.”

I fear my reviews for this author’s books might be repetitive, if only because I’m equally as impressed by the writing every single time. Sophia Soames has a way of writing that will just drag you into a story. It feels so personal, so easy, very real, but it’s also sometimes really beautiful. The stories themselves are often things I wouldn’t really consider to be things I love, but I would probably give most things by this author a chance.

The boys in this book are a bit ridiculous. They’re never mean-spirited, but they mess it up sometimes. It takes them a good long while as well as a kick in the ass by the star of the book (Stewart, Reuben’s dad) for them to sort it out, but they eventually do. There’s a lot of push and pull here, and sometimes more push than pull, but it was still quite low angst. They each have their struggles, but caring for the other is never one of the problems.

I have been in an eye-reading slump for a bit (have been devouring audiobooks like nobody’s business tho), so it took me a while to finish this one. I probably need a shot of pure action and mortal peril to revive me, which this book isn’t. It was just a little slow for my current needs.

Major plus points for several really good BJ scenes. I love those 🫰

I think this is my favourite of Sophia's books! I mean, I enjoy them all - she has a very distinctive voice. But I think there was something about Reuben's relationship with his dad, and Gray's with both of them, that gave me all the feels.

The Dieter is da shit, famous, a pop star, okay that’s only exterior, on the inside he’s unhinged, completely lost, depressed, and done. There’s one person he trusts, who proved he can be trusted, Reuben. Who’s Reuben?

Sweet dear Reuben is, the doorman, the handyman, the always available man, of The Clouds Hotel Westminster, just like his dad. Reuben is honest and real, what you see is what you get.

It’s not the first time, but Reuben has to help The Dieter/Graham. He was hanging around the hotel seeking shelter, he reached his end, was so done with everything. Reuben is always there for him, even on his day off. Famous or not Reuben is there. He even takes him home with him. They sleep in the same tiny bed, nothing more but snuggling, Graham even more than Reuben.
Meet Dad! oh dear, I love Dad.

“I know you’re not gay. But your boyfriend is.” “Dad!” I shouted.

Yes hahaha, that’s Dad!

Graham can’t stay away from Reuben. Sneaking in his bed because that is the only place on earth he actually can sleep. Crossing boundaries all the time.

Reuben is confused by all his feelings. Graham is a manipulative shit, in an acceptable way btw, but boundaries, remember. He’s so crazy about Reuben.
Still, Reuben is confused and it’s chaos, he can’t handle confusion and chaos.

Watch these two wonderful people, who both sucked at adulting, find their forever, okay it took them some time, and it’s hard work and needs a lot of love, thank goodness they have so much to give!

Besides Reuben and Graham’s relationship, there are jobs. There’s so much wrong with the music industry, and their killing contracts.

I’m so in love with this story (read: With this author’s writing) with Reuben and Gray, it has depth, and there are hundreds of thingys that makes this story attractive, impressive, and extraordinary AF!

Cup of tea? Yes, please!

A must-read, highly recommended!!

The latest installment to the London Love series proves to us, yet again love comes in all sorts of ways. Dieter (Graham to people who know him) professional life is falling apart, and he needs to get away before he breaks to the point he can not recover. Ruben (doorman at Clouds) treats Dieter as any other person, which is what he truly needs. These two have an oddly sweet relationship (you have to read to understand what I mean) where yes they argue and mess up because well they are both broken from their pasts as well as some mental issues they have no say in.
The two learn to rely on the other to have their happily ever after. Both stumble along the way, yet together, they just work. Compared to the rest of this series, I found this one to be low angst with just two guys falling in love.

I have really enjoyed the quirky stories I’ve read by this author. They just feel different than others I’ve read. I’m going to attempt Skin and Bones next…seems pretty heavy…

I will start off by saying that M/M contemporary romance usually isn't my thing.
That being said, I freaking adored this story of Reuben and Gray. This is a new-to-me author and this books is book five in a series of stand alone stories.
The character description is genuine and the story seems so realistic and believable, and it was a great, cosy, comfort read! It's dual POV which I really enjoyed. It wasn't only a smooth ride for Gray and Reuben, and they had their ups and downs. But the story was solid and I just couldn't put the book down! I needed to know what was happening next.
There is spicy 🌶️ scenes as well, so if that's not your thing(I thought I wouldn't like it, but damn, that was hot 🥵) be warned. But the steamy stuff, isn't the main part of the story, their evolving romance is and the evolution of their personalities. I need to check out other books by this author as I really enjoy this comfy, cozy, realistic love story! Highly recommend!

Falling Apart Together

3.75 🌟🌟🌟. 💫 for Epilogue.
Rueben is the new doorman at The Cloud Hotel in London where his father Stewart is the Head Doorman. Both of their lives are upended when Reuben decides to help out an acquaintance he met a year ago at a gig. ‘ The Dieter, aka Graham or Gray is leader and vocalist with Blitz a world famous pop group. He turns up at The Cloud, actually hanging outside looking very shifty, until Rueben notices him. Gray is on the very of a breakdown due to a stalker, and he needs to hide out for a while and has made a reservation, so Rueben sorts it out and rushes him up to his Suite.

Both Reuben and Gray are on medications to deal with Mental Health issues, ADHD, Anxiety. Reuban is very down to earth like his Dad and Gray is hyper, pushy and demanding, a spoilt brat by his parents and his Management Team. He lets everyone do things that need sorting so he hasn’t a clue how to take care of business for his band members or himself.

When it becomes unsafe to stay in the Hotel, kindhearted Reuban brings him to his home in Peckham and unsavoury part of London. He becomes very attached to Rueben and Stewart, Reuben’s dad. I loved Reuben’s dad Stewart, and his down to earth approach and it was obvious that Reuben loved him to bits. Stewart didn’t know about Reuben until he was in his early teens. He had rescued him from Foster Home after his mother died from addiction related illness.

Then Gray tells Rueben he is Gay and he likes him. They have been getting on really well but Rueben is straight and soon lets Gray know that he needs to back off.

But when Gray realised that the Management Team were behaving suspiciously and hiding stuff, Gray started to fall apart because he hadn’t been paying attention to what was going on. Rueben tried to help as did his dad. It was so apparent that these two were great for each other and took care of each other. Reuben had started to have some feelings when he was around Gray that he couldn’t understand as he was straight. However, when Gray became a bit too pushy with his expectation they had a row, Reuben told him to leave his house and Gray left, and didn’t contact Reuben again.

Watching the morning news Reuben heard what was happening with Blitz and their Management Team, it was shocking, so Reuben made the first move and contacted Gray. Reuben travelled north to pick up Gray and with Stewart’s help they began to fight back for the survival of Blitz and Gray in particular.

‘ Trust’ is Book 5 of Sophia Soames, London Love series all of which I’ve read and enjoyed so much, there are some crossover side characters from previous books. I’d advise starting with book 1. Sophia has also provided a lovely Playlist of music that kept her company as she wrote ‘Trust’. The Epilogue cover a later timeframe in Reuben and Gray’s story which will keep you smiling.

I always grab new books by Sophia Soames as soon as they launch, she writes such gripping stories with lovable diverse characters, not too much angst and plenty of what’s needed for HEA’s.

What a sweet, wonderful, heartwarming story (with just a pinch of hurt/comfort)!
I adore Sophia Soames' books and this one was a delight.
Reuben is a doorman at the Clouds Hotel Westminter, he works there with his father and he used to celebrities who arrive to stay at the hotel. He lives a simple and quite life and enjoy his comfortable routine.
Graham/Gray is a famous pop star, known as The Dieter; he's very talented but his life is a big giant mess. He's been thrown into the business without understanding how it worked and now he's paying the consequences. He cannot live his life freely and he's always surrounded by a lot of people, he doesn't sleep well, he can't concentrate and he's reaching his breaking point.

In Reubs and Stewart's little flat and, especially, in Reuben's arms, he feels safe, accepted, understood, happy. He develops a big crush on Reubs but, since he's not used to genuine people who don't want anything from him and don't pleased him only for their purposes, he keeps pushing and overwhelming him to be his boyfriend (in a very sweet way, there's nothing toxic or non consensual in this story).
Poor Reuben, he feels like he's continuosly hit by a tornado, he doesn't understand why he feels so attracted to Gray, why having him in his arms feels so so right. His presence prevents him to think clearly and he can't come to terms with this new side of his own sexuality

High praises to Stewart who's the best dad ever! I adored how he built his own fatherly relationship with Gray (independent from Reubs) how he supported him and helped him without judging.
I also very much appreciated how all the mess with the band's agent and the productors ended, even if there was a sad note.
The sex scenes are intimate, sweet, adorable and a little hilarious sometimes, but above all they're full of love.

The epilogue is amazing and I love how Reuben and Gray built their family based on their wishes and their needs.
After Skin and Bones this book was very much needed, I highly recommend it.

I received an ARC from the author and this is my honest review

Another great book by Sophia

Another great book by Sophia. Once I started reading I fell in love with the characters and found it hard to put down.

I was excited to see Reuben get his own book and to find out more about him. He’s very sweet and I liked learning about his background and close relationship with his father. I loved the way he and Gray’s relationship slowly evolved as Reuben adjusted to the mindset that love can transcend gender and he wasn’t straight as previously thought.

I loved Gray’s cluelessness, and his pushiness and determination in his personal life to steer things in the direction he wanted. His consistent use of using parking spaces as a selling point for getting his way made me giggle. We got to see his growth from having no say in any aspect of his life, to standing up and fighting back even when it was outside of his comfort zone.

I admired seeing both characters learning to both trust in themselves and each other. An apt title for this book.

I flat out adore everything Sophia Soames writes -- enough to have several in paper (rare for me). This is definitely going to be one of them! Ruben is the last guy you'd expect to draw the attention of a mega-superstar like The Dieter. And actually, he didn't. Ruben drew the attention of Gray. The Dieter is molten hot, loaded with swagger and blinds people with his dazzle. Gray is one raw nerve, vulnerable, frightened, lonesome and totally blendable in his hoodie and slouch. Ruben is straight, thinks he's ordinary and is perfectly happy to share a flat in a crummy neighborhood with his Dad. the last thing he needs is a velcro pop star who filches his stuffie.

Yep, she's done it again -- created beautiful, flawed men who melt your heart. With prose that sings and plot that takes the least expected turns, Sophia Soames wraps you in the world surrounding the exclusive Clouds Hotel. If only London were always this beautiful!! (And her book covers are just the best!!!)

I had to drop everything else when Sophia all of a sudden released a new book

Another book in the amazing London Love Series this time about the doorman Rueben and the pop star Dieter

Rueben is trying to get his life back on track
The Dieter’s professional life is going wrong, he just want to be Gray and to be loved
They both just want to find that one person that makes you happy 💚

Reuben is not gay, but his boyfriend is!
But he just loves to snuggle with Gray

As always I’m blown away by Sophia’s books, she just have this way to make her character feel so alive and like real people on can meet on the streets, or just like me and my husband, messy and unorganized
But full of love and affection for each other

And now I’m of to London, I just want to check in at the Cloud Westminster Hotel, get my car door open by Rueben, get checked in by Hugo, and eat a meal made by Ben 🥰

Another great story in the London series which is centered about the luxury hotel The Cloud. In this story we meet door man Reuben and pop star Graham. Reuben enjoys the quiet life of living and working with his dad. He is on the spectrum but feels quite settled and always thought he was straight. But then comes the chaos in the form of Graham or The Dieter as he is famously known as. He is really struggling with his pop career and how it's run by the management. Reuben ends up helping Graham a few times and they become friendly and it's clear Graham has a thing for Reuben. It's very backwards and forwards with them but it was such a sweet, quirky, funny and emotional story about finding yourself and happiness with each other and I really enjoyed reading it.

The author has done an excellent job crafting the main characters individually, but their relationship is a bit of a rollercoaster. There are moments when their chemistry sizzles, but other times it feels like they're completely mismatched. While I can see why they make a good couple overall, their issues run deep. The story introduces various relationship problems, but tends to gloss over them too quickly. By the book's end, once again the relationship dynamic continues, one where there are problems whose resolutions comes rather too quickly, and while I enjoyed the domesticity and good moments of the couple, I feel that I would have connected more with their love story if there was more depth and feelings when they had difficult moments. Also, I had to pause near the end because the pace became slower and it was harder and harder to read and not get frustrated/bored.

Reuben and Graham ‘the Dieter’ meet at the Clouds hotel and quickly fall in love. Well, at least it’s love at first sight for Graham. Reuben the doorman needs more convincing that the hot popstar has fallen for him.
This is a classic found family story, full of imperfect but authentic people, people one would want to meet and fall in love with in real life. I love Sophia’s books precisely for this reason and ‘Trust’ did not disappoint for one minute.
Special mention for Daddy Stewart, who is stalwart and lovely, and the long-suffering Mr. Snuggles.
Thanks once again for a lovely read, Sophia!!

As always a book full of incredibly human characters. The Dieter/Gray is completely stressed out, and his lack of healthy coping skills are really understandable. I loved how Reuben looked at everything and how scared and uncertain they were together. The relationship of both with Reuben's father was the highlight.
The emphasis on "trust" in so many forms was outstanding.

What an unlikely pairing in this one, but that’s part of the charm of this life story. Rueben and his dad were so awesome with Gray as he tried to learn how to people like a normal human after being a superstar.

A From the Heart Romance x

Trust is the latest book by the talented Sophia Soames. She creates her characters in such a way that you immediately feel you know them personally, they are completely authentic, from the first page. This one is no exception. Graham (aka The Dieter), lives his life by someone else's rule book, a life he has never wanted. Reuben is so genuine, sees himself as nothing special, is hard-working and kind. Two totally different characters, who just work together. Their story is ultimately delightful.

It has a really great narrative, is engaging , and feels completely rooted in reality. The writing is really down to earth, with very strong characters, whom you really felt emotionally connected to. There's a lot of depth to the story, and even though some of the topics in the storyline are quite serious, Sophia has managed to add a sense of warmth and humour to many of the situations. I love how she writes from the heart, about subjects that will resonate with every one in one way or another throughout their lives. Her work is so real, I totally recommend that you read at least one of her books.

Oh my god! Every book Sophia writes is a treasure chest filled with so many different feelings. You will find angst, tragic circumstances, tender loving care, comfort, and love- unconditional, unmeasurable love between people who try very hard to live despite all the hurdles that life brings on them.
I am not going to describe the events that happen in the lives of our characters. I’m scared to let some spoilers sneak in, and truly- you need to read this book to experience how wonderful the writing is, it feels so real, so very close that you believe that you know the people in the story.
I can‘t even count the number of times my heart broke, the amount of tears I spilled on the pages, I always prepare myself for despair that fills me, the emotional frustration that descends at the times when your favourite characters go through so much turmoil and pain.
Trust me when I say that “Trust” is another cache of real gems to read from Sophia Soames's works.
This book teaches us how to live within the society that dictates its norms to us, never mind how differently everyone can cope. When you are a celebrity do you have the right to have privacy, to live as a regular person, without being critiqued when you make a mistake, or ostracized for just being different? Fame doesn’t mean happiness, money don’t buy inner peace, only that special someone who takes care of your heart and body could bring you inner contentment.
Both boys are troubled, they come from such different sides of society, figuratively speaking they are from different planets, but they realize that they are very much alike and that’s why they understand each other, and only by staying together, they can deal with their inadequacy. Anxiety meds get substituted by hugs, cuddles cure sleeping problems, and talking resolves the desperate attempts to keep sane without prescriptions. The people, those who’ve known them from birth can’t even help as much as this one person who you found by a serendipitous chance, that happens once in a lifetime, as long as they have each other they will be victorious! They found their home in each other.
I want to add though that I adore Daddy Schiller, yes, not that kind of Daddy, just a very handsome silver fox with a heart of gold. I wish he could get his own book, but alas he is straight…
Also, I need to add a big shout-out for Mr. Snuggles too, what a special creature he is!
When the tragedy occurred, when the band lost their member I needed my support animal toy too, to hug and cry into its fur…
I was so moved by this story, it took me a while to get my thoughts collected to leave a review, and it happens pretty much every time I read one of the Sophia’s books.
The book ends with the HEA, but God how hard was the way they had to travel to reach their future happiness?
I think this story can’t leave you impersonal, you will live and breeze with Gray and Reubs every single moment.
Read it, think through it about what life is, how it works to be with somebody who is your “the one”. I did trust me.

This book has been provided for free by the author. The review below has also been published on Rainbow Book Reviews.

Reuben Schiller is a hot mess. He’s in his late twenties, but still living with his dad Stewart, who has even provided him his current job as a doorman in a ritzy central London hotel. All he owns is a battered old car and way too many emotional and mental scars. At least, he has finally succeeded in getting his life on track, more or less. Friends? Zero. Lovers? Same story. But all that threatens to change the day an all-too-well-known face shows up at his workplace. A face hidden by an enormous hoodie to avoid unwanted attention, but one Reuben recognizes nonetheless. It’s no one other than Graham Smith, better known as the Dieter, world-adulated lead singer of the pop group the Blitz. A walking hot mess all by himself, too. Strangely enough, he’s all by himself where normally an entourage of security goons and PAs are swarming all around him. He seems completely lost.

What to do? The young man is scared, clueless, fragile like the thinnest piece of china, and only asks for a place where he can breathe for a moment. His life in the limelight has become too much. Reuben being Reuben, he takes the guy under his wings, feeds him, then smuggles him out of the hotel and allows him to sleep in his small bed. That’s what any decent human being would do when seeing someone in desperate need of help. There’s just a small rub. The Dieter, aka Graham, is not only impossible to handle, but also develops a heavy crush on his improbable savior. And Reuben isn’t gay. Not at all. He just likes Graham. For reasons only the Fates understand, they get each other, they know how to talk with each other, they make each other laugh. Deep inside, Reuben knows they make each other happy. But that can’t be. Mustn’t be. Right?

This was a novel that drew me in from the get-go. Sophia Soames at her best—two confused, complicated characters who just don’t know who they are, what they want, and where they’re headed in life. In many ways, they’re still stuck in their dreamy idea of childhood, when other people would protect them, guide them, and show them what is what. Yes, they both really suck at adulting, for the simple reason that they don’t want any of that. Being an adult is way too tricky, with too little place for fun and happiness; it’s challenge after challenge, decision after decision. I think that’s what got me in the first place because even at fifty-two, I still rather suck at adulting (I’m improving, though). And I remember all too well how I felt when I was Reuben’s or Graham’s age. Everything seemed possible, both an exciting and scary prospect, but I constantly wished someone else would set things on track, decide, and let me be my messy, irresolute self.

The second thing I absolutely loved was that these two characters were meant for each other right from the start. Just the way two negatives when you multiply them become a positive number, Reuben and Graham complete each other. They have lived different lives, different stories, and their current trajectories have nothing in common. But deep down, they’re struggling with the same issues, the same sense of being consistently overwhelmed by the mere weight of existing, the same awareness that they’re not up to the task of what is expected of them. And that creates the strongest of bonds between them. They become buddies, then friends, and finally, finally, finally, lovers.

I also appreciated the fact that Reuben’s reluctance to dive into the seemingly dangerous waters of gay love didn’t come from some deeply ingrained homophobia. He’s very open, thanks to his perfectly accepting dad, who might even be seen as the one who pushes him into Graham’s arms. But his lack of experience in the relationship and sex departments makes him shy away from what his growing attachment to the pop singer means. He has learned that with every decision come consequences, and for a long time, he’s not willing to accept those. Only when he throws Graham out of his dad’s flat (out of his life, in fact) does he realize how much he needs the other guy.

This was the perfect read for the gray and rainy summer we’ve had here in Paris, so far. Sophia’s easy and easily recognisable style made me forget the dreary, heavy skies outside when I was sitting in the bus or tram. The bitter-sweet story (as always more sweet than bitter because that’s how Sophia writes) sucked me in and made me black out what was going on around me. As always, I loved how messy, contradictory, conflicted everyone was in this novel. That’s what made them so real to me, as if Reuben, Graham, Stewart were people I knew in real life. I can’t wait for book four of this series to be published (yes, book five was out before number four) and unapologetically recommend both author and novel.

Contemporary romance, singer/doorman, rich/poor, pansexual awakening, hurt/comfort, forced proximity, set in London.

Reuben Schiller (26) is a doorman and fixer of all sorts at The Clouds Hotel Westminster, like his dad Stewart. Reuben lived with his mum until he was twelve years old, when his mum went to prison for dealing drugs. He ended up in foster care before meeting and living with his dad, who was unaware of Reuben's existence up until that point. Reuben had a troublesome adolescence but turned things around once he was diagnosed with ADHD and anxiety, and started taking medication. He loves his job and still lives with his dad but does not have much of a life outside work.

Graham "Gray" Smith (28), who goes by the stage name The Dieter, is "the biggest pop sensation on the planet". He is a singer/songwriter in the boy band Blitz. Despite the global success of the band, Gray is at a breaking point. He hates his life in the spotlight and the way his agent and record label control every aspect of his existence. His bandmates are equally frustrated with the way things are going, some dealing with some serious health issues. His agent and label treat him as a cash cow and pressure him into producing music, acting and making various media appearances while holding back royalties and other payments.

At the start of the book, Gray takes refuge at The Clouds and somehow finds himself sharing a bed with Reuben at the Schillers' home. Gray is attracted to Reuben and tries to get closer to him but Reuben is confused by his growing feelings for Gray and insists that he is "not gay". Time after time, Reuben and Gray sleep in the same bed and find comfort in each other. In amongst all this, the band decides to fight back against their label and agent.

This was my favourite book from the author and one of my favourite reads this year. I absolutely loved the interactions between Gray and Reuben. They were such odd, neurotic characters but fit so perfectly well together. I also loved how supportive Reuben's dad was and how he helped Reuben come to terms with his sexuality. The book definitely shows the ugly sides of fame, how ordinary kids are thrust into the spotlight at a young age, upending their entire lives and exposing them to all manner of vices without providing an adequate support system, and the way they are brutally exploited by individuals with vested interest in their continued success.

After reading Book 3, I was expecting Mabel's story (Book 4) to be published first but hopefully that will come next.

In my review of Sophia Soame's last book, Skin and Bones, I mentioned how intrigued I was by side character The Dieter, and wanted more…. Well, I got my wish and it’s fantastic!
Trust is the story of pop star The Dieter and Clouds Hotel doorman Reuben Schiller. Blitz -the band he fronts- often stays at Clouds, and Reuben has seen The Dieter a/k/a Graham Smith/Gray at his worst.
Gray is a mess. Touring, recording a new album, and constant press commitments have him exhausted. Plus the label controls every aspect of his life and the band is sick of each other. Staying at Clouds under a fake name, he just wants a good night sleep and some real food.
Reuben provides burgers and conversation, and in a move he’ll come to regret, gives Gray his number in case he needs anything.
Gray is a spoiled brat, but so endearing. He immediately inserts himself into Reuben’s life, and before you know it, he’s sleeping over in the home Reuben shares with his dad.
Gray wants to be boyfriends. Stewart, Reuben’s dad approves. But Reuben has always identified as straight.
Yet there’s something about Gray. He’s impulsive. prone to grand gestures, and dealing with some tricky business issues. And Reuben does enjoy their nightly cuddle.
Reuben has his own issues stemming from a misspent youth and a recent ADHD diagnosis. Yet he’s drawn to Gray. They’re friends. And the person Gray is with Reuben is nothing like his public pop idol persona.
And that’s one of the reasons Gray falls for Reuben. He doesn’t treat him with kid gloves or put him on a pedestal. He isn’t afraid to call him out on things or say no. It’s real, messy, and the reason he wants a life with Reuben.
Their parents are wonderful. Exasperated with their children at times, but always supportive.
I loved how these complicated men, who had more in common then you’d think, found their HEA. They go through a lot, including a lengthy legal battle with Gray’s label. But in the end are successful in creating a life that works for them.
The epilogue made my heart so happy. Sophia’s writing is sweet, sexy fun. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I really think we should start a petition or something and make it a rule that Sophia can only publish one utterly brilliant book a year. This level of excellence is just not fair on everyone else, and to add insult to injury, Sophia makes it look so damn easy. TRUST is yet another book by a fabulous author, that is all the better for being entirely unexpected. I like surprise books lol.

This is an incredible book. Gray and Reuben are intensely flawed and intensely human, and sometimes neither of them are capable of really looking after themselves. I identified with both of them far too much, and they're incredibly loveable, which meant I mostly didn't even want to slap them. Much. The writing was incredible and the characters are fantastic, they feel entirely real and authentic. Yet again I could feel every nuance of their relationship, and they evolved and changed throughout whilst remaining believably themselves. Truly a beautiful story that gave me all the feelings.

You know how you can have like food porn or property porn? I swear Sophia Soames writes intimacy porn. These two have the most perfect cuddles and closeness, and they honestly made me well up a few times. I even had to send screenshots to my friend because it was just so wonderfully described. I wondered if the breathtaking intimacy was a fluke in Skin and Bones, but it absolutely wasn't. Maybe it's just her thing? Maybe it's in everything she writes? I really hope so, because it absolutely works for me, and those tingles and butterflies are what I read romance for, but rarely get to experience. Definitely worth all the stars.

From the moment you see the pencil drawing on the cover, you know what to expect. Great writing, great story and believable, relatable characters and Trust is no exception. Set in the familiar location of Clouds Hotel we do get a peek at some of the regular faces there but this is the story of ‘The Dieter’ aka Graham and the adorable Reuben. I fell in love with both of these characters immediately; it was if I already knew them well. Sophia’s writing style is such that her characters draw you right in from the very first word and they remain with you for some time after completing the book. This book has both joy and heartbreak and we get to see inside the world of the ‘seedy’ entertainment industry. I’ve read much over the years of the shenanigans of ‘management’ but seeing it written in a story this way makes me see just how much sadness there is behind the public persona. However, we do get a satisfying and well deserved HEA here. Although this is book five in the series it is not necessary to have read the previous four (but why not?), this story does stand alone with the added bonus of being set in Britain, written in British English; coming originally from the South East I completely understood the locations, dialect etc. and, for us Brits, it is a rare treat to have great stories set in our part of the world.

Fifth in series (London Love), but can be read as a standalone. Found family. Dual POV.

Gray is part of a famous pop group, and he hates it, the stress, the expectations, the whole lifestyle is far from what he wishes. When he keeps connecting with the unassuming doorman of the luxury hotel The Clouds, Gray holds on tight and never wants to let Rueben go. Yes, Gray is spoiled and moving way too fast for Reuben, but underneath it all even though it scares Reuben, they really have something special when they are together.

I absolutely loved both Gray and Reuben, their fears, dreams, hopes, and difficult lives made them relatable, and when they are together it’s just swoon all the time. Soames writes beautiful, emotional stories with vulnerable main characters that may struggle but are inevitably drawn to each other and support each other no matter what. With some supportive secondary characters to help out, Gray and Rueben are never allowed to falter too much, and as they both agree they will make mistakes, they accept that in order to be with that one of a kind special person that just makes their life better. Every book in this series has been a must read for me.

Trust - ‘Magic That is Called Family’

“You think you’re irresistible, don’t you,” he whispered. “You know I am.” I didn’t mean that, but it was too tempting not to actually say it. “I’ve never been into blokes.” “It doesn’t matter. Honestly, Reubs. It’s just…you know. Human beings. Skin. Feelings.” “Trust,” he said. I nodded. “Trust.”

My heart is still swelled with all the yummy feelings of two hearts finding each other, as Sophia Soames is able to create more London Love in this phenomenal series.

Doorman Reuben believes himself to be just ordinary. Not bright, not beautiful, and certainly not deserving of the attention he seems to be getting from super rock star, The Dieter.

Graham has been playing a role for over ten years, and yet he feels like he has learned nothing. His band is imploding, he hates having to hide from his fans, and hardest of all- he can’t trust anyone. Until Reuben.

A beautiful story of love building from the trust that each man is able to give to the other. Sweet, sassy, and steamy. All of your emotions will be laid bare as you trust love.

We're back at Clouds Hotel in central London and this time we have Reuben's story, a stalwart of the door-keeping team. Reuben is in his mid-twenties, and after a turbulent time in his teens, with the help of his ADHD meds and the stalwart support of his head door-keeper dad Stewart, he's settled into a good routine.

In contrast, Graham Smith aka The Dieter is in freefall, trapped in pop star management hell in a boy band that all the members have long outgrown. In order to get a moment to himself, he checks into Clouds Hotel and clings to the kindly doorman who has helped him previously.

From then on, emotional chaos ensues together with new and unexpected beginnings in this warm-hearted and endearing Gay for You/Rockstar romance with a strong central couple and a vivid supporting cast. A lovely read.
