Mini & Me

Rate this book
Michael 'Mini' Cooper knew he was different from an early age. Fiercely independent, he challenged injustice and questioned what he perceived to be the irrational belief systems of both parents and teachers alike. But no one wanted to listen and they didn't want him heard. After several failed attempts at beating him into submission, he fought back with devastating consequences. Michael Cooper didn't always know the truth but he understood the lie. Some have described him as a warrior of justice but for him it was always about the human spirit and the right to let breathe freely.

This guy is sharp, fascinating and had me rooting for him all the way. Sticking to principle in a repressive correctional system clearly comes at a horrible cost - which, for most people, would never be worth it...

Talk about the injustice of the justice system. A sad tale of a child let down by the social and mental welfare machines, and subsequent failure to lead a fully free and contented life. Thank goodness Mini had some people looking out for him.

An excellent account of the trauma of growing up in North-East England surrounded by pure idiots. Very relatable.

Such an intelligent young boy who was let down by the system in the most awful way. I found this book truly gripping to read. I watched an interview of him on YouTube which helped to see his character before reading the book.

I’ve just finished reading this book and it was absolutely brilliant. So eloquently written and moving, I felt I was totally transported into Mini’s life. I literally couldn’t put it down. I’ve always enjoyed reading biographies, however this is the best one I’ve ever read. This poor boy had such a difficult start in life and he was unfairly treated by the whole system. It really makes you want to hug your kids and tell them how much you love them.
