Francette and Gabriel’s marriage is still a ways off, but their engagement has been going well. One day, the siren duke, Magritte—one of Gabriel’s fellow monster dukes—suddenly pays a visit to Triste. This gorgeous lady seems to be quite close with Gabriel, and the way they talk to each other has Francette feeling anxious! What is the true nature of Magritte and Gabriel’s relationship?
After that, busy times abound as Francette must prepare for the annual monster duke meeting and develop new products for the Lakeside Duck Bakery to sell. She and Gabriel will revitalize this slime-filled territory—with love!
This is a solid continuation of the previous volume. It’s a sweet story that has a lot of romance, but no sex, and very little violence. I’d say it’s at the level of “young adult”, but still enjoyable for someone older who isn’t looking for anything “gratuitous”. The story feels concluded now and I don’t anticipate another volume for these characters, though I suppose other characters could potentially get spin-off stories.
I like how Gab and Fran relationship is deepening in book 2. The special slimes are also a highlight to the story, especially Wibble. I do want to see if Maria and Prince Axel will eventually end up together.
