Hunter of the Light Book 1 of 15 Haunted by chilling nightmares, Rachel questions her sanity as the line between fact and fiction begins to blur. For a year, Rachel slept. Forced into a coma after the horrific crash which claimed her family. Her body worked to heal while the memories of her loved ones vanished. She wakes to terrifying experiences that make settling back into a normal life impossible. Blackouts. Sleepwalking. Gruesome dreams. Terror coils in her gut at what could be behind it. Things take a far more sinister turn when her nightmares begin spilling into her waking life. Children are missing. The same kids who have come to her in her dreams. Only by delving deeper into the horrors of her mind does Rachel hold any hope of stopping the terror before it claims its next victim.
This is apparently book 1 of a series. We meet Rachel, who has woken after a one-year coma with little memory of her previous life. She starts having some memories and then some odd dreams after returning to her home. She realizes that the house she had dreamt of was an actual house, so she went there. It turns out the resident of the house, Adam, had experienced a dream about her. I won’t say anything else so I don’t spoil anything but I loved the overlapping dreams between the two. The two were brought together for a reason and I can’t wait to see how the story develops. I received an ARC copy from the author and this is my honest review.
This was a very quick, interesting read. I found the story to be compelling enough to continue and I may check out the other books in the series. It did feel very rushed and not fleshed out enough, but that could just be because it was a novelette. The writing also felt a bit juvenile but I did find myself wanting to continue and find out what was going on.
This book is deceptive. You read that Rachel woke up from a coma after being in a car accident. And then reading further was like jumping into an ice cold swimming pool; it was an unexpected shock. I’m hooked! The author is an excellent storyteller, but get ready for her to take you on a roller coaster of emotions.
I have read all 5 books in this series and the author does not disappoint. they are all good, well written and will keep you glued to the pages to the end.
