Community #2

The Reckoning

Watching a man burn alive rarely ignites a feeling of hope, but for Seren, it was the spark. With Ma safe and Lucas by her side, she is ready to leave Community for good. This should bring a feeling of relief, but nothing is ever that simple.

Though a safe Earth beckons just beyond Community’s walls, reaching it is becoming more difficult. A man may be dead, but his ideals are not, and he’s left a wake of people determined to uphold the existing order... by any means necessary.

As Seren and Zaiden work towards Community’s liberation, they find themselves entangled in a web of corruption. Lines between allies and enemies blur, and their safety hangs in the balance.

Their survival may hinge on an escape to Earth ...
And they're determined to survive.

A dystopian literary genius! Loved how fast paced the book felt and all of the twists and turns, and everything that continues to unfold. I’m incredibly excited for book number 3!!

I just am living for the dystopian series!
This second book in the series was exactly what I needed!! It picks up right where story 1 ends. We see the characters struggling with the knowledge the found out and a community that is now needing a leader.

We get to see the power dynamics struggles to be the leader, dealing with grief, trust, secrets, and we see a little more of the love triangle form.

I really enjoyed following the two POVs and seeing the different struggles, worries, and emotions they have been going through that only has enhanced their character.

Also the little cliffhanger at the end!

*potential spoilers ahead*

I found this book both unputdownable and throw-across the room-able all at the same time. I love these characters and the story is so unique while still giving the best parts of the YA dystopias I loved as a kid.

I loved the power struggle and getting to see Zaiden grow. The battles between grief, power and love were phenomenal.

Seren grew in this book (I found her slightly bothersome in the first book). She wanted to do whatever she could for her mom and her baby sibling. She was willing to go to the ends of Earth (or to the surface of Earth I guess) to preserve her family. I am excited to see how she truly blossoms in book 3.

I am very curious to see how the love triangle will work out in the final book. We have had teasers all along that maybe Lucas is interested in Seren, but not until the end of this book does he admit his feelings (of course not to Seren though). Prediction now: I see Lucas and Seren being endgame and Zaiden and Noa being endgame (maybe controversial, I know).

Also that cliffhanger?! I knew there would be humans but man that left me craving the finale.

I am literally on the edge of my seat waiting for book #3

Excellent follow up to her first book. Immediately brings you back to the struggles of the main characters in a gripping story that keeps you interest throughout. Can’t wait for the third book in the satires. Great summer read!
