True The Grace of Christian Fellowship describes what it is like to love as a believer, from 1 Cor 13.
Christian love is central to the life of every believer. When Paul speaks of the work of the Holy Spirit in Jesus' followers, love is the first item he mentions (Galatians 5:22); when our Saviour prepared his disciples for the events of that final night in Jerusalem, and everything that would come after, he spoke to them about love (John 13). Love is at the root of the Christian faith and it is God's abiding and everlasting love that gives impetus to the incarnation of Christ and the redemption of his people.
Renihan gets stuck into the text of 1 Corinthians 13, drawing on lots of commentators such as Sinclair Ferguson and Don Carson. He applies the text of scripture to the church, explaining the place of a proper understanding of love in the life of the church. It has small chapters. It is easy to read. It is a nicely packaged hardback. This book is a short and heart-warming read.
