Charles Hoffer's experience and commitment to music education make this text a practical and insightful guide for prospective teachers. The Second Edition of Introduction to Music Education clearly presents a working repertoire of concepts and general information that anchors the more specialized applications covered in subsequent methods courses. Hoffer's analysis of the nature of teaching, teachers, and music provides a concise yet indepth overview of the field. Outstanding features include the text's streamlined presentation of teaching issues; its rich selection of day-to-day exercises and activities; the resource, reference, and program lists; the discussion of teaching music in today's diverse classrooms; and the application of students' future roles in the field.
This book is...fine. It gives some information, though if you have any experience with the music education sphere then you likely know most of it already. I did appreciate the easy read during my last semester of uni, though!
