Susan Lyn is the merry widow with a naughty twinkle in her eye. She has a great appreciation for a fantastic set of abs and vows to be that resident on the front porch of her nursing home who 'accidentally' drops her cane to watch the delivery men bend over to retrieve it for her.
She got hooked on romances when she was twelve. Her mother and grandmothers were voracious readers but they refused to let Susan read the books they deemed too steamy for her delicate pre-teen sensibilities. There are unconfirmed reports, she may have pilfered some of the forbidden books. Which would also explain her ability to read quickly, as it was imperative to finish those novels before their absence was discovered.
Susan grew up, got married, got divorced, and then stayed single until she learned how to love and value herself enough to have a healthy relationship. Marriage #2 is proof she learned her lesson. Mr. Lyn inspired more an a few heroes. Even though she misses him terribly, she still loves romance.
When asked what type of books she likes best, she’ll tell you it’s romance stories that deal with real life. Where ordinary, relatable people can find their happily ever after, even after several false starts in the love department. During her decade and a half of singlehood, those were the books that gave her hope that she wouldn't be single forever.
Her books are about regular people, in real bodies, with everyday jobs. Her characters encounter stressful situations and find love as they overcome the obstacles in their path.
These are delightful tales, set at mid-life changes for the staff and other folks who are in and out of the offices of a construction company. The characters from one book re-appear as co-conspirators in another, setting each other up, getting into confusing situations, coming up with unusual solutions to uncomfortable situations.
Vengeful exes cause trouble in several cases, and the solutions and maneuvering are completely believable. And the kids come out well, despite being in the middle of some of the conflicts.
And people do get together in the end, as is proper for romance novels.
All in all, masterfully done, with a light touch. I enjoyed all of these tales.
i love a book with short stories one of my favorites as of now is this one, i love how you see how all the different characters intertwine with each other and how there stories come together, if you want a feel good book with ups and downs and some spice this is it. highly recommend
Love that this has multiple short stories and the characters are interconnected. Getting is glimpse into each of their love lives was truly a treat! nice and smutty but the pacing was a tad slow for me.
