In the small town of Sandy Lane, a vacant, forgotten house sits atop an overlooking bluff.
Bella uncovers the chilling secrets of the Clifford family at their cliffside estate, a legacy marred by sinister deeds and unexplained suicides. As she delves into the small town's dark past, each secret brings her closer to a dangerous edge.
Not the best book I've ever read. I hate giving bad reviews because as an author myself, I know how important a good one is, but this book seemed drawn out, there were several spelling and grammar mistakes which to me says the author didn't care enough to read the book proof before it went to print. I am being picky here I know but it's the little things sometimes that matter. The ending was predictable, and the book went on and on about how important the girls' parents were to her to the point of being irritating. I found myself skipping pages at a time just to get through this one. Sorry but this book was not for me. Not scary at all.
Story of Athena who finds out her grandmother who was adopted is a member of the famous Clifford family. A promise of a significant inheritance, leads Athena to stay 12 weeks in the Clifford estate, to recieve it. But the Clifford family has many secrets, and ghosts of the past are starting to surface. Athena struggles to find the truth about her new family, and keep herself safe at the same time. A lot of character building, and she doesn't actually head to the estate until half way through the novel, but it was an enduring mystery, and worth the read.
Terrible writing and even worse inflection-challenged Virtual Voice make this definitely the worst audiobook I've ever completed. And the first of these Riveting Haunted House Mysteries Audible freebies I've completed. The first VV I ever heard had me guffawing like Ed McMahon but now it's just plain annoying.
This wasn't really about a haunted house as much as a rich and dysfunctional family with secrets. The "haunted" aspect was really only towards the end and played a very small part of the story. Would have been better if more about hauntings and less about family drama.
