Wow, this book is so insightful. I have little to no experience with Dementia personally and I picked this book up because I have always been curious to know how you would handle situations. I have close friends who have lived through it first hand with aging parents and the amount of time and effort going into caregiving for someone with this disease has got to be one of the hardest things. There was such great information in this book that will help anyone going through it themselves to be able to stop and reset knowing there is support, and there are tools and resources out there to help them get through this challenging time. Valerie does a great job breaking each phase down into manageable steps and points so that you can choose what things might work for you and your situation. So much attention to detail in this book in reminding you that they are still people who deserve love and compassion. I highly recommend this book to anyone looking for guidance on what their next steps are and how to get through the stages of Dementia as a caregiver!

Beautifully Simplified Dementia Guide

Valarie does a great job of explaining dementia and how a caregiver can best care for their loved one and themselves. The real life stories at the beginning of the chapters highlight others experiences and then the rest of the chapters breaks it down into small manageable pieces. I know I will be a better caregiver to my Grandma now that I’ve read this great book. Thank you Valarie!

Loved it

Valarie has put together a great book to help children of aging parents understand what they might experience should their parents have dementia. Explaining the different types was especially helpful in gauging where in the journey the parent may be. Providing caregiving information was especially helpful in providing tips on providing a safe environment. Thank you for sharing!
