Love Me Dangerous #2

Love Me Reckless

Rate this book
From USA Today bestselling romance author Dakota Davies comes an all new small town opposites attract romance about a runaway bride and the mysterious outsider who risks it all to protect her.

The rules were simple. Ditch my past for a fresh start in Finn River. Keep my head down, work hard, and stay out of trouble.

But trouble has a name: Kirilee St. Claire. She’s sweet and feisty, with legs for days and a wicked stubborn streak that turns my crank. She’s also my new boss’s daughter, wealthy, educated, and way out of my league.

And…engaged to a jerk.

So when she begs for my help tackling a set of secret goals – a mischievous little bucket list – before she ties the knot, even though it’s reckless and ballsy for us both, I’m all in.

Yet the more time we spend as partners in crime, the crazier things get. Though we stay safely in the friend zone, I fall for her in a hundred ways. And by way she’s looking at me, I'm not alone.

How can I convince her to say goodbye to Mr. Wrong, and take a walk on the wild side with me instead?

And when the shadows from my past find me, do I hide from the truth, or risk it all for my reckless heart?

Author's note: A mysterious stranger with a heart of gold, a small-town sweetheart finding her courage, and a quirky mountain community rallying for love. Add a fiercely loyal found family, hilarious hijinks, plenty of heat, and a shocking twist, and you have a recipe for a wild and reckless ride.

Love Me Reckless is a standalone small town contemporary romance novel and book 2 in the unforgettable Love Me Dangerous series.

This was my first Dakota Davies book. And now I'm intrigued and itching to pick up the first book in the series! Although these two were opposites, they fit together so well. They may not have experienced the same struggles, but they were definitely both going through things that brought them together! Sawyer was leaving a rough situation and making a new home for himself in Finn River while working at a ranch Kirilee's family-owned. Instantly drawn to her, he found himself unable to stay away despite all the roadblocks in their way! And there were many. Kirilee was engaged and days from getting married and second-guessing many things in her life that had led her to the point where she is now. Sawyer helps her see just how important and precious she is. I loved the way he was constantly boosting her up! Kirilee deserved to have a man who worshiped her. She was an absolutely adorable FMC!

I loved the hint of suspense Dakota sprinkled in this book!

Dual Narration
Narrated by Laura Horowitz and Robert Hatchet

These two did an incredible job bringing Kirilee and Sawyer to life. I'm a huge fan of Robert Hatchet, and he never fails to impress me with his performances. And he was the perfect Sawyer. This was my first Laura Horowitz book! And I LOVED her. I've been following her on Instagram for a very long time, and she's so adorable. I was so excited when I found out she was narrating this book! She did a fantastic job on Kirilee's character, and I look forward to listening to her more!! Highly recommend this audio!!

This is the second book in a romantic suspense series that I’m really liking and you could definitely read it as a standalone. Kirilee and Sawyer have a connection from the moment they meet but she’s engaged so they start off as friends. The author did an amazing job at developing a strong friendship which made such a solid foundation for a romantic relationship later on down the road. I adored the way they behaved with each other, so much thoughtfulness and care and I really believed in their union. The same narrators, Laura Horowitz and Robert Hatchet are back again and these two are such a great pair! If you like romantic suspense, emotional journeys, forbidden and friends to lovers this was great

🎧🎧AUDIO REVIEW🎧🎧

When this ALC landed in my library I cannot tell you the lengths I would have gone to start immediately, but alas, I could not, because my schedule as a blogger sometimes gets wonky. Anywho, this little gem was staring at me every time I opened BookFunnel until a week ago and OH MY GOD, she did it again! I still don’t have enough experience on Dakota Davies to be all “she is the greatest of the greats” but I mean she is reeeeeeeeeeally close kids!

Once again, the romance journey and the suspense around the story were perfectly matched together and blended really well. This is so rare! So many times in the past one of the aspects falls short but Dakota digs deep on both angles and expertly intertwines them, so nothing feels short changed! I’m gonna find a lull in my reading time soon so I can dig into her backlist because I really love her style.

What I loved most about this story is the build-up of the relationship. Two people didn’t just meet and then develop into romance, no, they met, became friends, then they romanced. That is the most realistic way to portray a romance. Too many times I read/listen to stories that while they are not bad, they’re missing that crucial step of friendship. Those are the stories that even though I may like them, I don’t believe in them. Feel me? Dakota Davies makes me believe! She writes stories that while I’m listening to them, I am so invested in the ’what’s happening of it all’ that I get lost in them. I feel like I am a bystander watching it all play out and that’s the best kind of feeling! I fell hard for Sawyer and Kirilee! My heart was so darn happy I thought it would burst, which of course led me to some leaky eyes at times, but I mean SO MUCH HEART!! And it wasn’t just them but also the community! This was also a fun story and I appreciated that a lot. It just made me feel good. From the cover to the end of the book, I felt good about what I was listening to and honestly, isn’t that why we use our free time to absorb these stories?!

Narration ⇒ Once again, Robert Hatchet and Laura Horowitz kicked some narrating butt with their performance :) These two make a great pair and play well off of each other and their versatility, especially Laura’s, is off the charts!

So yeah, I loved it :)

Wishing. Wanting. Having. Can she have it all?
This is the second book in the Love me Dangerous series which I found to be an absolute delight to read.
I loved how the characters from the first book play such a big part in this story and that some from the Wild Hearts series even made an appearance.
They all came together beautifully and tie into the overall story.
With an element of danger and sabotage adding to the mix this was a really captivating story with deliciously steamy parts as well.
Sawyer was keen to leave Alaska behind and start afresh in Finn River where Zach his best friend had found his home.
On arriving in town, at a party Sawyer is instantly attracted to a very beautiful woman which he later finds out is off limits.
Friendship seems to be their lot and he spends an evening getting to know her.
For the sake of saving the family business Kirilee is doing her duty and marrying a person she doesn’t have any interest in.
Can she be brave and follow her heart or is she destined to be in an unhappy relationship forever wishing for more.
I both read the ebook and had the pleasure of listening to the audiobook.
I’ll now be waiting patiently to devour the third story of the series - Ava and Hutch.
I absolutely loved this audiobook narration and enjoyed listening to every minute of it.
Both Laura Horowitz and Robert Hatchet were superb in their roles of Sawyer & Kirilee.
I thoroughly recommend both the ebook and audiobook.

Love Me Reckless
Love Me Dangerous #2
By Dakota Davies
Narrated by Robert Hatchet, Laura Horowitz

Oh my, just win my heart! After Love Me Dangerous, I couldn't wait to continue with the series and this is the reason! Dakota Davies knows how to write a book that tugs at the heart. Kirilee has been raised knowing she is going to marry for convenience. The man picked for her marriage is smart and wealthy, but when it comes to love, there is no chemistry. Hanging out with her friends, she meets Sawyer. And there the magic is. All they can be is friends though, and spending time with him should be enough as he helps her complete her bucket list before she gets married. After all, she is the bosses daughter and engaged! This forbidden for so many reasons romance was an incredible journey. Decisions to be made, relationships to sever, hearts to follow, it has a betrayal and love all woven into a fabulous listen and a wonderful addition to the series.

Robert Hatchet and Laura Horowitz are so amazing, and together they find all the emotions to make this story riveting. Hatchet uses that smooth baritone to create Sawyer and just WOW. He is sweet and loving, so passionate and just tugs at the heart. Horowitz is Kirilee, full of duty and conflict as she works through what is right for her. I love these two when they work together, knowing I am in for a treat for my ears!

Laura Horowitz and Rob Hatchet were perfection as Kirilee and Sawyer. They have undeniable talent, and it is outpouring in their performance. I love these two characters separately and together. Sawyer has a troubled past, but it’s clear how hard he’s worked to move past it. Kirilee is so loyal, and it’s almost to a fault, but she loves so hard and so deeply. It was no surprise when these two fell for one another. Yet again, the suspense had me at the end of my seat, and the ending had me gasping. I loved this book!

The romance and story between Sawyer and Kirilee is well done. Sawyer moved to town from Alaska after his friend Zach settled there. He meets Kirilee who is engaged to someone her family approves of but is not a love match. She finds a connection with Sawyer after a night out with friends that continues to develop. There is a little mystery and suspense that causes some interference in their relationship but how the story unfolds makes it a wonderful read!!

Strength in Autonomy

Dakota Davies Love Me Dangerous bk 02 Love Me Reckless

Kirilee St. Claire and Sawyer Reed are from other sides of the universe, or so it seems. Add in her father's penchant for thrusting suitors at her, and you've got a couple that shouldn't be. But, oh, how sweet it is when they are together. 😍🤗🥵

I love how he listens to her and really hears her, her fears, her dreams, and everything in between. What he does with that information makes him one of my favorite heroes from ALL of Dakota's books, if not THE favorite. ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ From one Reed to another, you are the 💣, Sawyer!

Sawyer’s cheeks shine with his smile, bringing out a dimple on his left side. “Dropping the F-bomb, huh? You getting excited?”

This rough and ready hunk of a man is talking to me about books. Hell yes, I’m getting excited. I might need my battery-operated helper later to bring this moment to its rightful climax.

-- Kirilee St. Claire

I absolutely love when Kirilee finds her voice and starts putting her wants and needs first. It was cause for celebration. 🎉 And Grandma Dora is a hoot and very supportive. It's refreshing to see after everything else her family has pulled.

I went back and forth between the book and the audio book. The narrators, Laura Horowitz and Robert Hatchet, are fantastic to listen to. 🎧😍🎧

Dakota Davies is quickly becoming a go to author for me. Her characters are complicated, and in the case of Kirilee and Sawyer, they are opposites. The storyline is addictive, and hard to put down. This is the second book in the Love Me Dangerous series.

Kirilee is the sheltered daughter, her father owns the ranch Sawyer will be working on, and engaged to a man her father has chosen. But Sawyer sees Kirilee, and a friendship forms. But there are obstacles, and Kirilee is questioning so much of her life. Can Sawyer show her his feelings and how she should be treated? Add in a touch of suspense, our friends from the previous book, I highly recommend both books in the series.

Thank you to the Author for the advanced copy; this is my voluntary review.

Arrrg! How can I do anything but LOvE that mysterious stranger?! He is so kind and nice to his princess. I feel this story is told in two parts. The lovely part of them getting to know each other…everyone say Ahhh! The second part where everything and everybody goes bonkers. I sat there with my mouth hanging open saying “no…no its not true” and feeling so sorry for this guy. This is enjoyable with wonderful characters and it was nice seeing Zach again.

This is an opposites attract and I don't think there could be any couple more opposites than these two. That is what has me hoping! I listened to this on audio Robert Hatchett and Laura Horowitz do an excellent job on the narration. Very pleasant and easy to listen to.

This is one of those books that literally takes
you on the journey with the main characters.
I found it was a heart warming read but with
enough drama that makes the hole plot very
believable.
The two main characters come from completely
different back grounds but have to learn how to
Trust .
I highly recommend this read.
I also had the chance of listening to the audiobook
which was a real pleasure and has great narrators.

Heart eviscerated then put back together

The characters in Love Me Reckless (Love Me Dangerous Series Book 2) by Dakota Davies will pull you in, hold you captive, then burrow into your heart and mind.
Kirilee is a very special young lady caught between an overwhelming sense of family obligation, the demands being made of her, and her loving spirit. She truly is caught between a rock and a hard place. What she wants versus what is being forced upon her. I felt for her in her difficult situation, and kept cheering her on to discover what she really wants and how to get it. And I have to say that those around her who laid on and played upon her guilt (un-deserved) didn’t deserve her blind loyalty.
The main male character, Sawyer, is determined to be what Kirilee needs and that alone fed my romance loving heart. His protective nature, constant care, and concern for her is about as swoon-worthy as it gets. While Kirilee is struggles with her own issues, his past comes calling, bringing issues, concerns, and worry to the forefront. For Sawyer’s sake, because I love his character so much, I really wanted to like his brother, but he just made that impossible in the long run. Essentially, I felt as heartbroken for Sawyer as I already felt for Kirilee.
Basically, from the beginning of this book, Kirilee and Sawyer held me enthralled with their easy friendship, under the radar tension and developing feelings that go way beyond friendship and deserved a chance to give this couple the beautiful and loving relationships they both want, but don’t feel is possible.
Add in the setting of this book Finn River and the Finn River Ranch, it’s breath-taking in its descriptions. I could picture the ski slopes, towers, machinery, and the ‘men in black’ so easily! The author makes this town and it’s exclusive resort appealing and I so wish it was someplace we could visit.
Another element that makes this book a five-star read in my opinion is the suspense. And we’re given a double dose. Both Kirilee and Sawyer are mired in circumstances that makes the heart race, pulse pound, steal your breath and bite your nails then grip the edge of your seat!
And there’s a bonus for this book as well. You can also listen, which I had the please of being a advanced listener for. The narrators, Rob Hatchet and Laura Horowitz brought these two characters to life as well as the supporting characters. Narrated with emotion and the depth of the characters, this book is very well done. As a listener, I could tell these two take pride in their work. Definitely worth a listen if audio books are your jam!
Overall, I can’t say enough good things about this book in both formats. Whether I read or listened, I became hooked and remained hooked until the very wonderful, satisfying, and loving HEA.
After reading this book, I listened to an ALC of this book and voluntarily share my review.

Love Me Reckless picks up right where the first book in author Dakota Davies’s touching Love Me Dangerous series left off. Set once again in beautiful Finn River, Idaho. Bringing back characters you came to love and focusing this time on Sawyer and Kirilee. Don’t worry, Love Me Reckless is just great standalone, but you’ll love it even more if you treat yourself to Love Me Dangerous and meet everybody.

Sawyer has more or less followed Zach to Fall River. He and Zach knew each other in grade school; they’re very good friends. And just like Zach, he’s had a hard life and has some secrets. While Zach has broken through his past, Sawyer is still outrunning his. A diesel mechanic for the railroad at one time, he was getting ready to move out of a half-way house, and the next time we saw him he was in Finn River with Zach and Zach’s little brother William attending Zach’s Finn River Sheriff Department swearing in ceremony. And unable to take his eyes off a young woman in a blue dress.

Kirilee is that young woman. Talented, determined, with so much to offer. One of Sophie’s close friends and the poor little rich girl of Finn River. Her father owns the Finn River Ranch and thinks he owns pretty much everything else along with it. Including Kirilee. She has status to maintain, standards to uphold, and he’s selected an “appropriate” man for her to marry so they can combine forces and rule the universe. She resents it all but swallows her annoyance down.

Finn River is a beautiful place, full of warm, wonderful, loving, accepting people. Except for those that aren’t. Like Kirilee’s father and her hand-picked fiancé Birch. Birch is corrupt, dishonest, greedy, disloyal and treats Kirilee in a cruel and demeaning manner.

Sawyer doesn’t believe in love at first sight because he doesn’t believe in love, and Kirilee thinks her life’s path has already been set. But instant attraction is a real thing, and they definitely have it. They are so good together, feel so right, even if some of those secrets are bound to be known, Kirilee’s father and fiancé will vigorously object, and things will get ugly. But have faith and enjoy the sweetness and the steam and the wonderful circle of friends and wait for love to conquer all.

I thoroughly enjoyed Love Me Reckless and can’t wait to continue the series, maybe with Ava and Hutch? I recommend this book and this series without hesitation. I voluntarily leave this review and was not compensated in any way. All opinions are my own.

My review is written after listening to the audio version of this wonderfully heart-warming romance. The story tells how Sawyer and Kirilee met and fell in love against all the odds when Sawyer moved to Finn River to be closer to his long-time friend Zach. We met Zach, Sophie, and many of the characters featured in this story, Love Me Dangerous, but don't worry if you missed that one for now. The author writes in such a way that you can still enjoy this book. That said I promise you that once you have got to know Sawyer and Kirilee you will want to go back and get to know Zach and Sophie.

When Sawyer moved to start his new life in Finn River he had no idea how complicated it would become when he met and befriended Kirilee St. Claire. She's the daughter of the richest man in the area, he owns the resort where Sawyer is employed, but she's being pressured into an arranged marriage by her parents to secure the future of the resort.

Kirilee is generous and endearing and it's not long before Sawyer is utterly captivated by her. At first, they become friends, he's someone she can talk to, someone who is interested in her, in her dreams, ambitions and desires, and together they set about enabling her to fulfil her "hot tub wish list".

The chemistry between them is palpable and intense but they don't act on it, they endeavour to keep their relationship platonic as Kirilee's impending marriage day approaches but that said I love the way they support each other and force themselves to step outside their comfort zones, their friendship is profound yet playful and their connection is pure and deep. How can she marry a man she doesn't love, who doesn't even see her let alone love her? But how can she not when the future of her family business depends on it?

Just when it seems that they may stand a chance of a future together someone from Sawyer's past arrives on the scene and threatens their happiness. The tension woven into this storyline is palpable, as Sawyer struggles to decide if he should try to hide the truth from Kirilee or tell her everything.

This book is an emotional, rollercoaster ride from beginning to end, it's full of passion, drama, friendship, romance and palpable chemistry as well as decipt and secrets.

The narration is wonderfully performed by Laura Horowitz and Robert Hatchet who gave life to the characters and even more depth to this story.

Fabulous Story & Narration🎧Riveting & Emotional!

Love Me Reckless
Love Me Dangerous, Book 2
By: Dakota Davies
Narrated by:
Robert Hatchet, Laura Horowitz

It is great to be back in Finn River for another fabulous novel set in Dakota Davies’ “Love Me Dangerous” world, a standalone romantic suspense that grabs your attention right from the start and captivates it straight to the end. Sawyer wanted to leave Alaska and put his old life behind him, so when his friend Zach got a new start in Finn River, he moved there to start over himself and got a job at the ski lift, a mechanic working on the lift. Then he meets her, Kirilee St. Claire, his boss' daughter, and that alone should make her off limits, except she is engaged to be married, too. He quickly learns how much of her jerk her fiance is, but it is not his business to tell her. Kiralee’s life is not her own, it is her father’s, and she is his puppet and he chose her husband and arranged the marriage to secure his business financially. Both these characters are the sweetest, and despite being only friends, I thought they were great together and for each other. I did not like how she was her father and fiance’s doormat, but that turns around with Sawyer in her life when he helps her see her self worth and builds up her confidence. When Sawyer’s past comes back to haunt him, everyone near him is in danger and he stands to lose everything. I loved all the layers of this story and how it all plays out, with the perfect balance of drama, angst, some twists and turns, thrilling and suspenseful moments, heartfelt emotions and a slow burn, but so worth the wait romance. Once again, the writing, plot and world building are fantastic, as are the character growth and development. Watching Kiralee grow into her own was remarkable, Sawyer, too. Dakota Davies, thank you for another fantastic story and emotional rollercoaster ride.

🎧📚🎧 Laura Horowitz and Robert Hatchet continue to do a fantastic job voicing these characters and their portrayal of each is spot on, with both nailing the two lead roles and all the secondary characters. Their pacing and tone were perfect for the story and you could hear how much heart they put into their performance as they captured all the characters’ emotions and have you feeling each one. These two are entertaining storytellers and their performance elevates the already fabulous story to another level. Thank you for another wonderful listen.

Dakota Davies’s Love Me Reckless is a delightful small-town romance that truly shines in its audiobook format, brought to life by the talented narration of Robert Hatchet and Laura Horowitz. This second installment in the Love Me Dangerous series delivers a captivating story of a runaway bride and the mysterious outsider who captures her heart, blending sweet moments with suspense and deliciously steamy encounters.

The story follows Sawyer, a man looking for a fresh start in the quirky mountain town of Finn River, determined to keep his head down and leave his shadowed past behind. His plans go sideways when he meets Kirilee St. Claire—his new boss's daughter. Fiery, beautiful, and unfortunately engaged to the wrong man, Kirilee is completely off-limits. When she enlists Sawyer to help her complete a secret bucket list before her wedding, their "partners in crime" arrangement ignites an undeniable chemistry that blurs the lines of their carefully maintained friend zone.

What makes this story particularly engaging is its rich sense of community. Davies seamlessly weaves in beloved characters from the first book in the series, and even from her Wild Hearts series, creating a warm, found-family dynamic that makes Finn River feel like home. This interconnected world adds depth and history to the central romance. An underlying thread of danger and sabotage adds a layer of suspense that keeps the plot moving at a brisk pace.

Robert Hatchet and Laura Horowitz are perfectly cast as Sawyer and Kirilee. Hatchet masterfully conveys Sawyer’s protective nature, his internal struggles, and his smoldering charm. Horowitz captures Kirilee’s journey from a dutiful daughter to a courageous woman fighting for her own happiness with authenticity and spirit. Together, their performances create an immersive listening experience, elevating the emotional weight and palpable heat of the story. For fans of opposites-attract romances with plenty of heart and a touch of danger, this audiobook is a must-listen.

~*~ Audiobook Review ~*~ Love Me Reckless is book 2 in the series and I have been waiting for this one for Kirilee’s story. She lives a very small, very sheltered life and has little control, but you can just tell there is a powerful woman ready to take on the world! I just love her group of close friends. Her family is in trouble and thinks her marriage will fix everything. There is way too much pressure on her from all sides, though I do really like her brother and hope to see more of him. She is engaged to the absolutely wrong man and doomed to a loveless marriage and a small life. She is resolved to this fate, until Sawyer shows her what freedom can bring and wakes her up to possibilities. Their attraction is strong and the steam is thick, but they evolve together with him showing his cinnamon roll, adorable, smexy self while letting her find her strength. Kirilee is such a lovely and loveable character who is the perfect match for the wonderful side of Sawyer that has never really been exposed or fostered in this way. They are both sort of broken in different ways and the light shines in them once they let it! I really enjoyed Sawyer and Kirilee’s story and am excited for the next book in the series.

Robert Hatchet is a wonderfully talented performer who is already a favorite narrator. With every book he showcases his range to flow through characters and perfectly portray emotional depth and a powerful vocal range! Laura Horowitz is new to me with this series, so this is my second book and I’m definitely hooked! I have added her to my “Faveylist". Not only does she have a lovely voice, but her range carries you through the story with different characters and situations, matching Robert Hatchet to perform the story beautifully! I will definitely be listening to more of her work in the future. Great casting!!

Opposites attract – small town suspense

This is book 2 of the Love Me Dangerous Series so you already know it’s going to be good. This can be enjoyed as a standalone, but I recommend reading the first one and you’ll appreciate this one that much more. I adored Sawyer and Kirilee’s story.

Sawyer relocated from Alaska as a lift mechanic for the resort. He meets Kirilee, whose family owns the resort, through mutual friends. He’s enamored with her immediately, but she’s engaged to a potential business partner of the family. Basically, she’s in a modern day arranged engagement. Sawyer and Kirilee become friends and he’s the first one she turns to when she finally decides to put herself first and walks out of her wedding. She knows he’ll keep her safe while she tries to figure out what’s next and how to take back control of her life.

The question is, can he keep her safe when his past is threatening their future? I loved these 2 and their journey. Kirilee blossoms as the story goes on, gaining strength and making her own path. Sawyer is downright swoony, the way he befriends Kirilee, protects her and just adores her is awesome.

The narration is on point and adds so much to the book. Laura is newer to me, but she was terrific as Kirilee, portraying all facets of her personality during her journey. Robert was perfect as Sawyer and is becoming one of my new favorite narrators.

This story is a fun, quick paced story with some suspense and spice. The characters are well written, and I love that characters from the first book play such a prominent role in this book. There’s a real sense of community. I love this little world in Idaho that Dakota Davies has created, and I can’t wait for the next book in this series.

I love when two opposites find each other and end up being perfect for each other. “Love Me Reckless” is a romantic, heartfelt and suspenseful opposites attract forbidden romance that was a great addition to the series.

Kirilee works for a nonprofit and wants to bring as much goodness into the world as she can. She’s also in an arranged marriage with a man she doesn’t love but doesn’t want to go against her parents wishes. Sawyer is new to the area for a fresh start and the moment he sees Kirilee, he’s taken aback with her. And when she asks Sawyer to help her with a list of things she wants to do before she gets married, he can’t say no to her. But as the two spend time together, he shows her the happiness she’s been missing from her life and she starts to realize that the life her parents want for her is not what she wants.

Kirilee and Sawyer's story was a great read and I enjoyed it so much. Kirilee has so much goodness in her and you can’t help being drawn to her like Sawyer was. She has a heart of gold and wants to help as many people as she can. I loved her finding herself in this story and wanting to be happy. Sawyer is a man of mystery at first but he has so much goodness in him too. He came for a fresh start and meeting Kirilee was the last thing he thought would happen to him. He was her friend first and never pushed for anything more when she was engaged to her fiancé. Sawyer truly wanted to help her and keep her safe. Once she left her fiancé, the chemistry they had was ignited and they were incredible together. I loved the added suspense of Sawyer’s brother coming into town and what he added to the story. Their ending was so romantic and I can’t wait to start the next book in the series.

Audiobook and Book Review:
Narrated by: One of my favourites, Robert Hatchet and Laura Horowitz.
What I love about reading and listening to books is that you get to experience it 2 different ways. And Dakota being Queen of giving us the wonderful description of the world it's easy to fall in love with the small town she creates.
This is opposites attract, from the other side of the track and off Limits.
Sawyer is Zach's friend from back home. Sawyer has come for a fresh start and also be with his best friend. He does have a secret but we are left in suspense until it all blows over around the end.
I liked Sawyer character, he was genuinely a good guy who likes to work hard and be there for people he cares about.
Kirilee was really sweet, kind and in a way broken. Her life has been dictated by her parents. How she should present herself, how she laughs, who she hangs around with and the man she has to marry. Urgh, I absolutely disliked her fiance. He was a dictator and was in control of her spending. Didn't care for her dreams or wishes.
When Sawyer and Kirilee meet I felt their attraction instantly. I loved how they both became very good friends. He knew he can't have her because she is unavailable and she is from a rich family. He is just a mechanic at her dad's business.
I loved how he was there to bring all her wishes come true and give her self confidence again. Most of the book she is engaged and we even get to the wedding!!!
Read and find out what happens at her wedding. Who is Sawyer hiding from? Can Kirilee choose love over the influence of her family?
This was exciting, entertaining, emotional, powerful, found family, love and spice!!!!
Soo excited for next book already.

Plot: 4.5/5
Narration: 4.5/5
Spice: 2.5/5

Dakota Davies delivers another winner with Book 2 in the Love Me Dangerous series! If you love small town, slow-burn romances that blend romance with mystery, look no further! Dakota Davies immediately hooked me with an intriguing situation, and the story only got more captivating. Finn River itself shines as more than a backdrop—its warmth, charm, and complexity mirror the lives of its residents. As Sawyer and Kirilee fight for their love, you’ll find yourself rooting for them, swept up in the romance, drama, and the touching sense of community.

Sawyer: A man haunted by his troubled past, trying to find a fresh start. He reconnects with his friend Zach in Finn River, but it’s Kirilee who truly stops him in his tracks.

Kirilee: The “poor little rich girl” trapped by her controlling father and an arranged marriage to the loathsome Birch. Beneath her polished facade, she craves freedom and love—and finds hope in Sawyer.

Narration (SAME OPINIONS AS THE FIRST BOOK)
Laura Horowitz is a new-to-me narrator, but I'm hooked! She seamlessly shifted between characters, capturing their vibes perfectly, and even nailed the male voice! I’ll definitely be looking for more of her work.

Rob Hatchet is one of my all-time favourite male narrators. I'll purposely seek his work, because he hasn't let me down yet. His soothing voice and skill at bringing characters to life and make hours fly by. His narration is absolutely golden.

A big thank you to Dakota Davies and HomeCookedBooks for the opportunity to review this audiobook.

Plot ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✨

Narration 🎤🎤🎤🎤🎤

This was my first Dakota Davies book and I absolutely loved it. Sawyer and Kirilee come from opposite ends of life. Sawyer grew up having to fight and earn everything he can on his own while Kirilee had a life of privilege. However don’t let Kirilee’s wealth fool you, while she had privilege she also had a life that was curated by her parents. Always following the rules, doing everything her parents asked without question, and never stepping over the line … until Sawyer.

Sawyer is EVERYTHING you want in an MMC. He’s sweet, caring, listens, pushes when he needs to, but also knows when to pull back. His childhood wasn’t easy and his brother didn’t make it any easier, even as they got older. Sawyer meets Kirilee and is instantly attracted to her but knows she’s off limits. Not only is she his bosses daughter she’s also engaged, but the two start up a friendship. It’s through this friendship that Sawyer helps Kirilee with her “before marriage” bucket list. With a few twists, a couple turns, some suspense, and the perfect amount of spice and you’ve got a plot that’ll keep you hooked.

Robert Hatchet and Laura Horowitz both did a fantastic job in narrating this story and really brining the characters to life. It’s always a pleasure listening to narrators who are able to do both female and male voices as well being able to create voices for all the side characters. I was super excited to finally hear a book with Laura narrating as I’ve been following her on instagram for quite some time and I just love her personality.

After completing *Love Me Dangerous*, I was eager to dive into the next exhilarating chapter of the series, and it truly surpassed my expectations! Dakota Davies has a remarkable talent for crafting stories that resonate deeply and capture the intricate nature of human emotions. This latest installment in the *Love Me Dangerous* series was an absolute pleasure to read.

The story was filled with tension, as elements of danger and sabotage were skillfully woven into the plot, creating a riveting tale that was both thrilling and steamy! I genuinely appreciated the return of beloved characters from the first book, each playing crucial roles that enriched the narrative. To my surprise, familiar faces from the *Wild Hearts* series made delightful appearances, seamlessly integrating into the overarching story in a way that felt both organic and fulfilling.

The book delves into significant themes such as the tough choices we encounter, the relationships we must release, the paths our hearts urge us to pursue, and the intricate dynamics of love and betrayal. This depth of emotional engagement provided an exceptional listening experience and a fantastic addition to the series overall.

The audiobook truly brought the story to life, thanks to the outstanding performances of Robert Hatchet and Laura Horowitz. Their chemistry was a delight to experience, perfectly capturing the raw emotions that made the story so compelling. Hatchet’s smooth baritone voice breathed life into Sawyer, portraying him as sweet, loving, and passionately devoted—truly tugging at my heartstrings. Meanwhile, Horowitz's nuanced interpretation of Kirilee highlighted her sense of duty and the internal conflict she faced while balancing her desires and responsibilities.

Listening to this talented duo was akin to savoring a fine wine; every moment was a sensory delight, heightening my anticipation for the upcoming third installment in the series, which will focus on Ava and Hutch. I cherished every minute of the audiobook narration, fully absorbed in its enchanting world. Without a doubt, I highly recommend both the ebook and the audiobook for anyone in search of an unforgettable literary adventure!

4.5 stars

Kirilee St. Claire is a ceramic artist who works at a non-profit organization. She is engaged to a man named Birch, who is totally wrong for her. He lacks character and morals, much like certain politicians soon to take office in America. But his money will help save the Finn River Ranch that Kirilee’s family owns, which puts pressure on her, because they need his money and ‘expertise.’ The ranch is a members-only high-security exclusive resort for wealthy patrons.

Sawyer doesn’t fit into Kirilee’s life because she was born wealthy, and Sawyer has had to work hard for everything he has gotten in life. However, they develop a friendship that inspires Kirilee to figure out who she really is and what she really wants in life. They complete several of Kirilee’s dreams/wishes that she wants to do before her marriage. Unfortunately, Birch gets jealous of their friendship, and does what he can to sabotage it. Things get angsty for a while, and Sawyer deals with some heartache as he watches Kirilee’s wedding day draw nearer, knowing that she and Birch don’t love each other. Fortunately, something changes, and Kirilee finally sees her life and her future more clearly. Add in an unexpected visit from one of Sawyer’s relatives, and the tension ratchets up, as does the pacing.

This is an exciting story with some interesting characters in it. It is the second story in this series, which is best read in order. However, if you start with this one, you will still get a lot of joy out of this well-crafted story!

I listened to the Audio version of this book narrated by Laura Horowitz and Robert Hatchet both of whom were so brilliantly cast to voice these characters. This is the second book in the series but can certainly be read or listened to as a standalone.

This story is about Kirilee a shelter woman from a well off family living in a small town who is engaged to be married to a man she doesn’t love to help her family. And Sawyer who has had a troubled past and is looking for a new start in Finn River. The two meet and they are attracted to each other but can’t act on it so they become friends while falling more and more for one another. But just when they think they’re free to be together Sawyers past catches up to him threatening to destroy Their future together.

I devoured this book in one day and loved it. I enjoyed Sawyer and Kirilee as individual characters and as a couple. They had wonderful chemistry a sweet friendship and were what each other needed.

Narration was perfection. I’ve really been enjoying these two narrators and for good reason. They seem to immerse themselves into the characters, giving the right tone and vibe for different personalities and emotions. They were both just the right choice to bring this book and these characters to life.

This is just one of those books you don’t want to miss if you are a fan of romance In general. A balanced story with beautiful writing, outstanding narration likable characters, some drama, some steam friendships, family and love.
