Paskagankee #3

Wellspring

Rate this book
WELLSPRING is Book Three in the Paskagankee series of supernatural suspense novels set in a tiny village in northern Maine.

When contractor Dan Melton uncovers a secret underground death chamber filled with two human skeletons and what appears to be a living naked man, he notifies police immediately. But by the time patrol officer Sharon Dupont arrives on the scene, the man has vanished, disappearing into thin air.

Within hours, a Paskagankee resident is murdered in his remote cabin, and brand-new police chief Pete Kendall calls on recently retired Mike McMahon for assistance in solving the crime.

The mystery deepens and the tension mounts after a second murder is committed, this one much more personal to Mike and Sharon. They follow the evidence, but soon realize the trail leads to an impossible conclusion. Impossible anywhere, that is, except in Paskagankee, Maine.

WELLSPRING combines the Gate of the Gods in Peru, the Fountain of Youth, the Underground Railroad (the support system assisting slaves fleeing oppression in the 1800's), and three murderous outlaws, all adding up to a terrifying, impossible, and utterly absorbing novel of the supernatural...

Good as book one, better then book two

I compliment the author from learning from his mistakes in book two. Book three was interesting and most of all the author didn't feel the need to remind the reader every 5 minutes what happened in the previous book. In book two he almost drove me crazy with repetitive retelling from book one. In book three he avoided this misstep and allowed for an enjoyable read. A very clever, imaginative and well written book if you are a fan of this genre. It shows writers can and do improve.

This is another great addition to the Paskagankee series by Allan Leverone. One never knows what kind of supernatural beings may appear in the town of Paskagankee, Maine. This story has an interesting take on the Fountain of Youth that presents intriguing possibilities across time. I found the storyline to be excellent and it was so good to be back in a story with the good people of this Maine town on the Canadian border. It was fast-paced and hard to put down once I started reading.

Another great episode of the Paskagankee series. An imaginative storyline where the past smashes into the present day and causes mayhem for some of the lovable townspeople. Once again the small town is visited by the strange and paranormal. Mike McMahon regains his leadership role in the police department after an incredible story from the past comes to life in the podunk town in Maine. His fiancé and deputy, Sharon, shines once more as a strong female protagonist, capable and willing to do her duty, and tuned in to unexplainable forces. Lots of great characters, action, and strange goings on.
