Matteo

She was the daughter of the enemy. Off limits. Beautiful. Intoxicating.
The woman I could never have.
Then I found out she felt the same about me.
We were explosive but we had to wait until the time was right, except Renata Andretti never had any patience.
Events conspired against us, and we were torn apart as she committed the ultimate betrayal.
I tried to move on. Tried to forget her.
I focused on building an empire. But she was always the one that got away.
The one I couldn’t forget or forgive.
Then I see her again.
Time stops, the world doesn’t spin and all I can do is stare.
She’s pure sin wrapped as an out of bounds temptation.
One thing is clear, we aren’t over.
So, I plot and make my plans because this time?
This time she won’t be the one who got away.
She’ll be mine.

The Shattered Ever After series prequel Bones Of Revenge And Reckoning introduces us to Renata Andretti and Matteo Mancini. This one ends on a cliffhanger and will continue in Cages Of Thorns And Blood. I really wanted to throttle Renata in this one. I felt like that although she knew the dangers she expected the impossible. Then I remembered this is a young couple, and although they were growing up in the Mafia women really didn't have a full picture of what goes on. But Matteo better watch out, that girl grew up to be FIERCE! That being said, Matteo has something up his sleeve too. I can't wait to see what's next in their journey!

4+ Stars ⭐⭐⭐🌟 BONES OF REVENGE AND RECKONING sets the stage for what’s coming in “Cage of Thorns and Blood.” Matteo Mancini and Renata Andretti never envisioned they were merely setting the stage for revenge when they felt the first stirrings of love and ultimately betrayal as teenagers. This glance into their backstory is guaranteed to leave you hungering for more of their story. It’s an intriguing look at the characters, their lives, and the reason for the choices they are destined to make. You will be left eager for more, as you should be, from this beginning of what may be the most compelling tale of them all!

Sooo good

This is a prequel to Cage of Thorns and Blood. I can not wait to dive in after reading this.

If you've read the other books in the Shattered Ever After series, you will have met Renata. I loved how this went back into her past. We got to see what shaped her and how she became the cold hearted, short tempered but strong and resilient woman she is.

The writing is superb. I was grabbed in the beginning and read it in basically one sitting.

I can't wait to see Renata get her happy ever after, Mafia style, lol.

Definitely recommend not only this story but the entire series.

REVIEW
I am new to this series and may have read out of turn. This book though just gives more insight into Matteo and Renata. And if it's an introduction I can not wait to get started on book 1.
Renata is one tough female, and normally not so brash until Matteo breaks her heart and her trust.
A true mafia story in the making... Who will win?

Bones of Revenge and Reckoning is the prequel to SR Jones and Silla Webb’s book Cage of Thorns and Blood. This book introduces you to Matteo and Renata who are young and in love despite being in rival mafia families. It sets the stage for the next book, Cage of Thorns and Blood. The book is well written with plenty of plot twists.
I received a free copy of this book via the authors and am voluntarily leaving an honest review.

I read the book Cage of Thorns and Blood first and wanted to know what happened in the bathroom and now I know. This book explains all the contributing factors as to why Renata and Matteo hated each other. It is poignant and so revealing and is a wonderful complement to Cage. I am so glad I read it.

It's a decent start.

Just a handful of pages really and a pretty rushed introduction to the two MCs of the Shattered Ever After Series, which I don't think has actually been written yet.

This is more of a teaser than a prequel. But, if you want to read the series, you should probably start here.

This is a perfect fit for readers who crave a passionate and intense romance, are drawn to the dark allure of the mafia, and enjoy forbidden love stories that explore the complexities of loyalty, power, and the thrill of a second chance at love.

Finished the rest in 1 go. Captivating book
