Balkan Caesar

Rate this book
Balkan Caesar is the compelling story of a group of Americans of the OSS (Office of Strategic Services) who fought the Germans behind enemy lines in war-torn World War II Albania. Based on a true story, the Americans, led by Captain Tom Stevens, bonded with the French educated Communist Partisan leader Enver Hoxha to defeat the Nazis and liberate the country. Precursor of the CIA, the OSS broke with Hoxha and his Stalinist regime after the war, and after Stevens fled the country after getting caught up in a tangled three way love affair with Hoxha and his mistress. Hollywood actor Sterling Hayden of the OSS and British actor Anthony Quayle of the SOE are real life characters in the book.
