Inside this book, you'll find a reflection of my life, experiences, thoughts, and feelings, captured through poems/quotes written during a challenging period in 2023.
These poems are infused with honest and heartfelt emotions, offering a glimpse into the magic of life as I have lived it.
They explore themes of love, heartbreak, mental health, and many other aspects of life.
Thank you for choosing this poetry collection. I hope you find something relatable and meaningful within these pages.
I really liked the colour scheme of the front cover of the book, and it contained some nice poems. Overall, I do prefer longer poems and quite a few of these were on the shorter side, but they were well penned by the author.
This is a collection that takes all the emotions we associate with love, from the joy of being with that special person to the pain of having to say goodbye. There’s an inherent wistfulness to many of the poems which is beautiful in its authenticity, Thera no word used because it sounds ‘clever’, instead each one has been carefully chosen.
I feel this author has shown immense care, frames their work in such a way that every poem leaves you feeling reflective and sometimes even a little sad because your own memories are triggered. I found myself looking back at my own life more than once, and found myself picturing people who had once felt so crucial to my happiness.
This is a perfect collection for any romantic, it’s thoughtfully written, some lovely imagery but for me it’s the honesty that really makes this a very special book.
Look around you Home, you must have one In the distance somewhere A reason for you to fight more
I do love a pithy poem. Mia has really gone from strength to strength in her poetry, and it shows. She's gone super prosey in her poetry, finding her way through grief.
The reflection in the mirror You can't recognise it now Unfamiliar, with no words Who were you before this? Before the pain got too much That's all you can ask anymore
This is not a cheerful, uplifting poetry collection. Does that matter? It does if you need uplifting and cheerful. But it does break open Mia's thoughts and pours them on paper. it's a good collection. I recommend.
No, I am not an artist But sometimes, art spills through me Sometimes, when it's all too much I become a pained artist at that time
A great book of verse poetry, short straight forward speaking poetry you will definitely find something relatable in.
Longing and Past were two great poems about wanting someone and being stuck in unrequited love and then remembering the feeling of love and being loved. Truth, another great poem about realising how fragile loving someone is, as you accept they could up and leave at any time. Everywhere, again, about seeing reminders or being reminded about love lost everywhere too Vinyl, really relatable about sharing songs and reminded of love left in lyrics and melodies once shared, a love language of sorts I relate to the most.
It was a great little book I found myself nodding along in agreement to many of these poems points raised and really got me thinking and reflecting.
BRUISED MELODIES is a collection of short-form poems that can also be read as quotes. I really enjoyed how the word used for each poem's title was also somewhere along its lines. I didn’t connect with every single poem, but that’s just how poetry is. You’re not gonna vibe with everything, and that’s okay. My favorite poems were "Fleeting", "Shattered", and "Bones".
Favorite lines; "In the ashes, perhaps I'll find it The peace that I wanted for years"
