Thanks so much to Ms. St. Amant for sending me a copy of her book! I'd enjoyed her YA book, Addison Blakely: Confessions of PK, and was excited to read another one of her books. She was so sweet to send me two to read and review. Thanks again, I'm really enjoying them!!!
Hannah Hart is helping out her friend, an art teacher, when she meets Jude Bradley and his daughter. Jude is the vice principle and when Hannah offers to do a shoot with them (noticing his daughter's natural beauty despite the more childish way she dresses) he turns her down very strongly. Unsure why but knowing she shouldn't dig deeper Hannah lets alone for a while. Still they keep seeing a lot of each other. Hannah knows she should be more distant but she can't help but like Jude...a lot. She has her past brings up doubts before her and her visible and non-visible scars left from a car accident make sure to remind her exactly how impossible falling in love again is.
Jude has a weight of his own to carry with a difficult decision at work. Cut his best friend's job along with the sports department or his daughter's joy at school, the art program. He's attracted to Hannah but can't get over what her business means to him and his pain in the past. But the way she gets his daughter to open up so easily only draws him more and more...with an excuse for it too.
Pros:The romance was SO sweet and definitely felt real. A lot of times it just seems fake, but this romance wasn't just all "I like you and your pretty and done" it had deeper meaning and was a lovely example of a real, Christ-driven relationship. And it was really sweet, did I mention that? There were a lot of layers and...ehhh prejudices that they both to get to and over. Their pasts and all. Props to the author for those feeling real as well and not sounding stupid, haha. The plot was nice, not super fast paced but a nice steady one with several surprises :) I really loved Hannah and loved her as a main character, I related to her really well and I just liked her a lot! Jude was a sweet guy and he and Hannah were SO adorable :)
Cons:There were a couple scenes where something was realized about God or He was mentioned that I thought were a tad slow/dry/needed something.
Content:Separation (I think), a couple kisses and attraction. Mention of drugs, past car crash, bad affects of modeling, and running away.
Overall, so so so sweet it is a great romance that I really enjoyed. It's one you should read when you want to get away and read a lovely story :) I'd recommend to YA+ girls and women looking for an enjoyable and inspirational read.

When Hannah Hart agreed to be a guest speaker for her friend's photography class at the local junior high, she never expected be attracted to the assistant principal, Jude Bradley, who is is also the overprotective father of one of the students in the photography class. Will the memories of their pasts keep them from finding the future God has for them?
My thoughts: I love the premise for this book---Hannah's past keeps her from really living, choosing instead to capture others' precious memories instead of making her own. Jude's past has caused him to disdain photography, fashion, and all the other reasons his wife chose fame over him and his daughter. This part of the storyline is well-developed and intriguing, but I just didn't feel a connection to the characters and found them both annoying at times.
I also liked the school aspect of the book. Having worked in public school education for ten years now, I thought the choice that Jude had to make between cutting the art program and the sports program was relevant and a nice twist (although I haven't heard of a school that only had two electives, but I do work in a large city). This added conflict made the book much stronger than just a love story.
Overall, I enjoyed the book. Usually I am a character-driven reader, but I enjoyed the storylines much more than the actual characters experiencing them.

Hannah, a photographer, helps her friend who is an art teacher with a class and after-school creative club. While there she makes a good connection with Abby, a motherless middle-schooler who is going through a rough time. Hannah butts heads with the child's father who is the Assistant Principal but is also attracted to. There was definitely conflict as the characters work through things from the past, but overall, a lighthearted story.

Quick romance read. She has scars from a car accident that also took away many of her dreams. He has a major grudge on his shoulders whilst trying to raise a tween daughter and refusing to let her do anything related to the modelling industry after the downward spiral and death of the kid’s mom.
Just couldn’t get into this one. Didn’t feel it.

2 stars because it intrigued me enough to finish it but I really didn’t care for it. It read kind of old fashioned for a book that was written in 2012. Jude was so over-the-top with his rules for his daughter. The “whole cutting one of the electives” was rather simplistic and not very interesting.

Fun quick read. Jude seems wound a bit too tight and is more than overly protective to me. I couldn't see him making this long with out someone intervening. Other than that, this was a fun, light, sweet story.

Being a single dad of a preteen girl isn't easy so when Jude's daughter instantly bonds with Hannah, Jude asks her for some tips. But spending time with Hannah doesn't just help Jude relate to his daughter. It cause Jude to start leaving his past behind. But Hannah has her own secret, and fears getting to close to Jude and his daughter. Will love find a way to bring this family together and leave the past secrets behind?
I really liked the message of the story. It was about having faith to do the right thing even if it seems you are the only one. Also it touches on the importance of inner beauty and that a relationship shouldn't be about what the other person can give you but about how that person makes you a better person.

A very cute romance.
Hannah Hart is used to taking photos of other people's happy moments. Scared not only outside, but in as well by a car accident, she prefers to live in the shadows, hiding her scars. That is until she meets Jude Bradley and his daughter Abby and they all are just what the other needs.

Cute read. Makes you realize that even though we may have interior or exterior scars, we shouldn't let them define or control us. We are bigger than scars or shadows. Enjoyed it thoroughly.

This was a very tense romance. Both main characters had a lot of past baggage to deal with.
I really enjoyed the book watching each character grow singly and together to the end.
