My interest in this series has been flagging during the interminable election arc, but this flashback to Yumeko Jabami's childhood is an energizing shot that reminds me why I liked the early volumes.

Yumeko and her teenage sister Souko are orphans watched over by their aunt, Tsugiko. As the Jabami's are an offshoot of the powerful Momobami clan they soon find themselves wrapped up in succession intrigue and -- of course -- a stressful and exciting game of chance to determine their future in the family.

This short arc continues next volume.

Na wstępie tej wspaniałej recenzji chce zaznaczyć ze Yumeko jak i ogolnie Kakegurui jest dla mnie niezwykle sentymentalne. Moje pierwsze swiadomie obejrzane i skonczone anime. Moja pierwsza manga ktora nie byla danganronpa. Jestem bardzo przywiązana do tego tworu, bo jest ze mna odkad mialam niecale 10 lat.

Ten tom opowiada o przeszlosci Yumeko, z czasow gdy była jeszcze dzieckiem. Mieszkala wtedy z starsza siostra - Soko oraz ciotka - Tsugiko. Jest tu mowa o tym co sie stalo z rodzicami siostr oraz z sama Soko.

Fabula byla okej, ale nie wzbudzila we mnie zadnych emocji, chociaz niektóre elementy byly ciekawe.
Mala Yumeko jest dokladnie taka jaka myslalam ze bedzie. Identyczna. Jestem very glad z tego powodu. Nie przezylabym gdyby moja dziewczynka byla jakims shy dzieckiem.
Natomiast bardzo zaskoczylam sie osobowoscia jej siostry. Myslalam ze to bedzie jakas teenage Yumeko 2.0, ale tak nie jest. Soko przede wszystkim bardzo kocha Yumeko. Zrobi dla niej wszystko. Jest dosyc wrazliwa i zbyt empatyczny dla swojego dobra.
Tsugiko tez okazala sie ciekawa postacia. Ma ogromne wahania nastroju i koncowo jej raczej nie lubie. Chociaz inteligencja to sie nie wyroznia, przynajmniej za mlodu tak nie bylo. I byla mala Kirari. Wielbie Kirari. Jest piekna. Kirari >>> Ririka

Showing yumeko and her family's backstory adds so much more depth to the story. I am locked in. I can't wait to read the next book when it comes out.

POPKULTUROWY KOCIOŁEK: W Kakegurui tom 17 odchodzimy od dotychczasowych wydarzeń z Prywatnej Akademii Hyakkaou, aby lepiej przyjrzeć się przeszłości rodu Jabami. Głównymi bohaterkami są tu dwie siostry Soko i Yumeko. Obie od momentu śmierci swoich rodziców znajdują się pod opieką ciotki Tsugiko. Czas płynie im stosunkowo spokojnie, wszystko jednak zmienia się pewnego dnia. Na światło dzienne zaczynają bowiem wychodzić pewne rodzinne tajemnice, które lepiej, aby nigdy nie zostały odkryte. Na dodatek w ich żyłach zaczyna buzować szał hazardu, który może się okazać jedynym rozwiązaniem nowej rzeczywistości, a tym samym jedynym sposobem na lepsze jutro.

Odejście od dotychczasowej „szkolnej” tematyki przez autora jest doskonałym pomysłem. Poznanie pewnego wycinka przeszłości Yumeko i jej rodu jest dla serii pewnego rodzaju odświeżeniem. Nadal oczywiście duże znaczenie ma tu hazard, ale nie stanowi on już pierwszoplanowej i najważniejszej roli w historii.

W tomie tym obserwujemy przede wszystkim silnie emocjonalnie nacechowane wydarzenia, które przyczyniły się do tego, jak Yumeko zachowuje się w teraźniejszości. Ona sama nie jest tu najważniejszą z postaci. Pomimo tego świeże i ciekawe spojrzenie z innej perspektywy na bohaterkę powinno mocno przykuć uwagę fana serii. Emocjonalno-psychologiczny wymiar historii nadaje ponadto scenariuszowi większej głębi i tym samym pobudza ciekawość....

WE'RE HERE, GUYS, YUMEKO'S BACKSTORY!

Yet, as someone who read beyond the published volumes, I'm pretty sure there is more to the story we're not seeing.

Souko is just the spitting image of Yumeko, and though I know exactly she doesn't have the happiest ending (an understatement), I enjoyed her presence in the story and who knows if she doesn't show up again...

I like Souko but why is yumeko weird and the auntie isn't even that bad so if yumeko can understnad what is going on, wouldn't she be able to understand that? Tho I did like the manipulation of the auntie very brazy.

Intrigante viaggio nel passato di Yumeko e, in particolare, in quello di sua sorella! Ci voleva proprio questo focus e la fine del volume promette anche altri risvolti interessanti.

Pobre Souko, mucha gente rarita a su alrededor

I’ve needed this story for so long and I am finally satisfied, except it left off on a cliff hanger and now I am desperate for the 18th volume to be released in English!!! Also I have so many questions and I just want to reread the whole series after reading this volume cause it’s CRAZYYYY
