Rate this book
“It seemed as if it was just me, and just her,
just like the way we had first talked,
just like I had always imagined,
just like how I wanted it to be.”

Was it love at first, or was it love every time after that?

A love story spread across twenty years and four dates- starting from India going to New York and culminating again in India.

This is the story of, Shalini and I.

It Wasn't Love at First: ‘Shalini and I’ by Prashant Sharma
FOR PEOPLE WHO BELIEVE IN DESTINY, RELATIONSHIP ...
This is the third novel by Prashant Sharma… I got attracted to the title of book and ordered it from flip-kart.

This is a story about a relationship between two unknown people who desire to become known to each other- This is the story about the author himself and his love for Shalini. The story is spread over a span of 20 years where they both keep meeting and imparting due to destiny.

The story moves further with different twists and turns due to destiny , where either of them is not sure about their next meeting…not even sure whether the other one loves or not.
Now my Positive viewpoints:
This is the third novel by Prashant Sharma..who has done a good job and justification to this story. He has not over exposed any one character and the script is balanced giving justice to each character.

The author has expressed friendship of Love and relationship very well. Places like when author has got engaged to the girl of his parents’ choice and on the same day he meets his lost love, are narrated very well.

Also the character of Kirti has been portrayed well.

A real good effort done by the author. It is unpredictable and you want to keep reading the book ill you complete the book.
Some suggestive points:
Although the book’s end shows a happy ending which is all together good ..however on some places it seems it can be cut short especially the places where relationship of the author or Kirti is being explained or the shopping day out…Indeed the book is good but at the same time there is a little monotony in some places.
This is just a suggestion….
Final words:
Overall if asked I would say...this is a good job done by Author (Prashant Sharma)

It wasn't love at first Shalini and I, this novel was recommended by one of my teacher and it is his favourite one.

One I got to know about this book I downloaded it and uploaded on Google playbook to start reading it. It was little boring in starting but I kept reading and getting interest to know the mystery, how the author met Shalini and the faith of Shalini in destiny (it was illogical by the way).

But at the end the story ends on the happy note when Shalini and the author met each other and he threw his engagement ring.

And this was the para which Prashant used lot of times to describe Shalini.

"She was fair, had a dimpled chin which gave a something special to her smile, long eyelashes, curly at the end, like a princess would want them, kajal around her eyes, kajal to keep away the bad omen from her beautiful face, a small parrot nose, which twitched when she frowned, and black flowing hair, which I would later know, she thought were brown."

At the end it was worth giving it a read..

I bought this book at a railway station. I was expecting this book to be a so-so read but i really loved the story of the book and the way it is written.
The only thing i did not like is the main character, the narrator. He could have easily made contact with her when shalini gave him his mob. no but instead of 10, she only wrote 9 numbers. He could have tried his luck by changing the last digit of the mob. no..
I do not know about the narrator, but i really felt in love with shalini. Her character was so full of inspiration and energy. Loved her when she loses the competition but not even a slight sign of remorse was there in her eyes.
This is my first love story type of novel and it moved me the way like a good novel would have moved.
4 stars to it.

Different version of love story, Shalini who hides her emotion in every phase and in the letting her emotion without any tears makes readers eyes watery. A story teller, casual Indian guy, who haven't mentioned his name in entire story makes the difference of the book. If u need a different love story try this one. Totally its a good to read book don't miss it.

WHEN? I bought this book some years back when I was a novice in reading.
WHERE? In Landmark year end sale.
HOW? Read this book during my travel back and forth in 2 days.
WHY? I read this book now to toss this out from my precious book collections.
WHO? This book is Author's third it seems. Hapless writing. The author can't even satisfy an easy-pleaser like me. Grrr. Less than a point rating.
