Hooked on A Feline

Randomly waking up with claws and fangs puts a major crimp in your relationships—who knew?

A year ago, I escaped to the Rift to evade a tormentor from my past. It took time, but I found a family, friends, and eventually, a community to lead—something I’d never had before.

Now a fluke of biology is threatening to destroy the delicate balance of my life.

I’m about to lose my mind trying to fix this when a terrible realization comes to me and a plan blossoms alongside it.

Unfortunately, it involves a cruel, blood drinking psychopath and his wicked mate.

The Resistance exiled Taurus and Talia when we created our home, but they’ve been here since the Rift was created. If anyone knows what its power is, it’s the former King and Queen of the Cabal. They’re a direct link to the science that can reverse this awful mutation.

Dealing with the devil always has a cost and his might be more than I’m willing to pay.

If I have to square off with a killer to keep my family together, I will. Besides, I know something that preening windbag doesn’t.

The night is dark and full of terrors… and I’m one of them.

Omg this book. There’s a lot of world building info in the first 20% of the book, don’t panic, just keep reading. It took me a little bit to get into this book, but it was totally worth it in the end. I love Cass’s writing and this book is no different. Her characters are complicated in the best ways and I’m just obsessed with all the relationships she’s able to weave together.
It’s got everything you could possibly need in a pnr and the spice is spicing! Can’t wait for the next book 🤩

🦇 A dark, polyamorous fantasy where claws, fangs, and shifting loyalties define survival. 🦇

In Hooked on A Feline, Delilah has finally built a home and forged a chosen family in the eerie landscape of the Rift—an escape from the horrors of her past. But a sudden biological anomaly threatens everything she’s fought for. Transformed by claws and fangs, and on the brink of losing her sanity, Delilah is forced to seek help from the exiled King and Queen of the Cabal, Taurus and Talia. They know the Rift’s true power, and they just might hold the key to reversing Delilah’s curse…for a price.

As alliances shift and trust becomes a precious commodity, Delilah must navigate a polyamorous web of mates—each relationship as vital and complicated as the next—while squaring off against old enemies and surprising new adversaries. Surviving will take grit, ferocity, and a willingness to embrace the darkness within.

What to Expect:

Complex Relationships: A fully poly dynamic, where characters connect and collide in intricate, meaningful ways.
Slow-Build Tension: Initial world-building introduces a rich tapestry of characters and connections before the action explodes.
Intriguing Antiheroes: Taurus might appear like a typical bad boy, but his hidden layers and shifting motives add depth and intrigue.
A Fierce FMC: Delilah stands at the center of it all, determined to protect her found family—even if it means bargaining with devils.
Fans of Lexi C. Foss, JL Madore, and Jaymin Eve will be drawn to this captivating entry in the Legends of Ouroboros universe, where the darkness holds both terror and tempting secrets—and Delilah is ready to face them all.

So Different From Other Cass Series. But Still Everything You Love About Her Writing

This was such a surprise! After reading other reviews, I was expecting to be confused reading this. While it did take more focus than a contemporary romance, I found with the character guide it was easy enough to follow!

What makes this different than the other Cass novels I’ve read? To start with, the FMC is already in a committed relationship with a plethora of others, but spoiler alert, not the MMC that most of this book focuses on.

Another difference is that the main storyline and conflict is within the relationships themselves rather than the characters teaming up to fight a “Big Bad”. I feel like this will change as the series progresses, but for the first book, it’s all about the characters and their relationships and the FMC healing and trying to find her strength while juggling all her relationships.

One thing I’m still not so sure about is the MMC already having a mate, who is in fact quite interesting and lovely. When I read a RH book I’m usually wanting the main FMC to be getting all the attention unless the other individuals are in a relationship within the group. Weird, maybe, but it is what it is. I’m curious to see how this dynamic plays out in the future.

Overall, I liked this much more than I thought o would. I’m partial to the supernatural academy series, but this was such a unique read I’ll definitely be coming back for more!

I was really conflicted on the star rating on this one.
Let me start by saying that i absolutely loved the story and the characters.
Action packed with a fast pacing story and also captivating.
The negative for me is that i couldn't connect with the story and the characters due to the fact that i don't feel that its a true stand alone.
I felt like i was missing a huge part of the story and i was trying to understand the dynamics and the people and what had happened in the past and i was unable.
Too many people, too many names that i couldn't keep up because they were introduced as a given when its the first book of the series.
I loved Deli and Taurus and Rafe and Talia and a munch of other characters.
I loved the diversity ,the different sexualities and characters and all the work the author has put to introduce us to this brand new world.
Unfortunately the world for me was already build and the characters and i felt as i was dropped into the middle of the story.
Yet i truly want to see what will happen next and it truly made me want to check out the Legends of Ouroboros Universe.

Please read the trigger warnings! They are definitely there for a reason!

This book is absolutely amazing! I love the shifter mate concept, it is incredibly different to anything I have read before and I love it.

Delilah is our FMC and her wit and sarcasm carried me through to the end of the book - I love her.

It's the classic case of suddenly shifting and trying to work out what is happening - to do this Delilah heads to Taurus a member of the Cabal, for help.

Their relationship is one of the best things about the book - they really do not get along at first and watching the dynamic develop over the course of the book is really something to behold.

I am excited to see where this goes, there are lots of triggers and secrets ready to be revealed and I want to be there for every moment of it.

This book took me a while to get into as the first 20% or so was a lot of background on the characters and the complexity of their world without much dialogue or action. While it caused the book the start slowly, I did feel it was necessary to understanding the interconnected dynamics between all the characters. This is a truly poly story, with all of the characters having multiple relationships with each other. I really enjoyed Taurus who appears to be your typical bad boy, but as the story progresses you get to seen his many layers. Delilah is a complex main character with web complicated web of mates that she struggles to navigate. There are some dark elements, so be sure to read the trigger warnings.

A great start to a paranormal romance series filled with action, mystery, secrets, lies, intrigue, mate bonds, sizzling sexy scenes, friendships, betrayal and twists leading to the fabulous cliffhanger ending. Very well written, detailed world building, diverse characters with amazingly strong chemistry and a magically captivating storyline.

The lead character was strong and greatly likable as where some of the main characters, the story was written in multiple POV which was great as it have different perspectives as well as one mysterious perspective. Some hard hitting topics covered in this book causing angst, drama and PTSD.

Looking forward to reading book two to find out what happens next.

Twisted

Deli is just trying to make it through life in the Rift while keeping her secrets under wraps. She contacts the "big bad" to get a intricate question answered and it leads to more questions, problems and changes. Deli is more than she seems and yet still hidden. Taurus is a poof.

The beginning of the book is heavy into backstory and character connections which are necessary for the other 3/4 of the book yo make sense. I want to see this whole thing blow up!

I’m Feline Like Shenanigans are Afoot

There’s a lot here, but it all fits. All the “players” can get a bit confusing, but things start to work themselves out.

This FMC is one of the most downtrodden I can remember encountering. I remember wanting to burn the world to give her a bit of relief. But her peacock gives her that, and I think moving forward readers will see more of the woman alluded to in this book. Rise up!

Great Read

Deli and her family. You get to watch the relationship build between her and Taurus while she also leads her people.

This book is a sci-fi RH book. It is a large harem. Seeing everyone interact and learning how everyone was with each other was fascinating to me.

Looking forward to book 2 to see everyone's story continue.

Cass takes us on one wild ride with Hooked on A Feline. This story has all of Cass's trademark humor and her fabulous pop culture references that I adore. HoaF is the first book in the Rise of the Resistance series this book leans more towards Syfy than magical, there are clones, androids, and pocket dimensions. There is a touch of magick and Cass has mentioned there will be more as the series continues and I'm looking forward to that.

One of the things I love about Cass's writing is that a lot of her stories are connected, and set in the same universe. So some of these characters are familiar having been spotted in her other series. This is Reina Pantera and Le Voleur's origin story, I believe these events take place before their guest spots. I've been so curious about their characters so I was psyched about this series.

I loved MFC Delilah, she's a tough chick that has an edge until you gain her heart and then she's as soft as they come. My heart went out to her and her mate Rafe, they go through a lot. I would say Taurus was the most surprising character. He's arrogant but he grew on me. I enjoyed his development throughout the story and by the end I couldn't help but like him. He's freaking adorable.

If you are looking for a sweet romance this (mostly) isn't it. These people are all aboard the hot-mess-express. There are so many lies, abuse, manipulation, secrets, and pretty much everybody's on the road to crazy town which makes for a lot of intense moments. The concept of mates is different in this book, they exist but are a little different than what I'm used to, there's a free love element to things, and some things I give the side-eye to.

Hooked on a Feline is quirky and weird but in a good way. Plus it has a complex plot with complicated relationships, it's a mess to keep up with but it's very entertaining. I mean how could it not be with these characters? I can't help but want to know more and to think Cass considers this beast a prequel, I can't wait until we get into the meat of this series. I'm looking forward to whatever chaos they bring next.

I read a lot of why choose / poly romances, and I have to say “Hooked on a Feline” was something entirely different. It took me a little while to really get into the story, because it felt necessary to pay close attention to everything I read the first 20%. There are a lot of characters involved in this story, and both the relationship building and worldbuilding aren’t the easiest to fully comprehend. Once I understood how everything was connected, the story did manage to grab my attention though.

I love the relationship building between Delilah and Taurus in this book; I don’t think I’ve ever read a why choose story that takes this much care in relationship building between two characters. While they find their place just to be and get to know each other, the world outside turns into a big mess though. Somehow, this book feels like the warning that not all poly relationships work out the way people thought they would and this entire book feels like waiting for the moment everything comes tumbling down.

So yes, I liked this book, but I would highly suggest only starting it when you have the time to truly grab the complexity of the story and the connections between a bunch of characters. This is not a light and easy read, but if you’re looking for something new and original in the poly romance world, this might be exactly what you’re looking for.

Hooked on a Feline by Cassandra Featherstone is book one in the Rise of the Resistance Series. I’m not going to lie what originally caught my attention was the play on words for the title. Then I read the blurb and was totally all in for what would probably be an incredible adventure. It totally was! I read the book in about a day and what a journey I was taken on. I was hooked with my favorite trope of enemies to lovers. But what an intricate storyline that has these amazingly complex characters. This story is just intriguing and a bit complicated but the worldbuilding feels massive in a good way. I did have to reread a few paragraphs to get a better grasp on everything. There’s so much that goes on in this story ranging from betrayal to lies to secrets and at times it’s just pure chaos. But to me that just made this a page turner. But I do think my favorite part of the book was the humor and all the references made. Also I really liked Delilah and Taurus… she’s so strong and he’s just a bit arrogant. (Was a fan by the end of the book though) This was written great with a crazy addictive plot line. The worldbuilding is on another level and I can’t wait to see what’s in store next. If you’re a fan of sci-fi, paranormal or fantasy than this book is for you.

Hooked on a Feline is the beginning of a new series, but this book and the series have roots in other places. So, when you start this book...it's a pretty good idea to read all the intros, and notes that are included in the beginning of this book.
Hooked on a Feline has a lot of good elements going for it, but it took me quite a while to get into the storyline. I'd start to get into the storyline without having any of the background that are set aside in other stories, but then the author would drop in something and I'd have no idea what was going on anymore.
I'd have preferred if this author had just written this book from the beginning as a fresh book without connections laying elsewhere. Too often i got taken out of the story because of scenarios that have taken place in another story.
There is a lot of chaos and drama in this story, but once you finally are able to settle in to the storyline and there are fewer or no surprises then it is a truly enjoyable novel. I'm going to try and read the prequels, and hopefully everything will make sense once it all comes together.
For now...soft 4 out of 5 stars

Interesting start to series

This was a very intriguing read… There were a lot of things going on throughout this story and at times, I had a hard time following, but overall it was a great read!

Delilah, trying to find out more about things that are going on, makes a visit to see Taurus to find out more answers about why she is developing certain powers. As a human now living in the Rift and part of the new Resistance, she has to maintain control as one of the leaders, but she can't if her new developments are left unchecked. Taurus, one of the original clones, provides some answers but there are still things left unknown. She starts to work with him to control her powers, and they, over time, develop a relationship of sorts. I was a bit confused at all the different mate bonds going on and what they really meant, but the story is very intriguing about what the company is doing and creating.

Interested in seeing what the next book does – although I will say that it was a bit slow to start and I felt a little lost at times.

Hooked On A Feline is book one in the Rise Of The Resistance series written by Cassandra Featherstone.

💜 FMC with big heart
💜 enemies to lovers
💜 familiars
💜 mysteries
💜 magic
💜 🌶🌶🌶🌶 spice

Delilah has to get this information no matter the cost so that she can figure out what is going on. But meeting with Taurus can cause a whole host of problems as they are on opposite sides in this world, technically. She just needs to keep herself in check and not let him goad her into anything. But life is never that easy is it? What happens when their mates are involved? Will everything go smoothly? Will anyone get upset?

This is the first book in this series and there is so much world and character growth and development in this book. Delilah is surprising and yet endearing that you can’t help but want to follow and figure out what she will do next. This book does end on a bit of a cliffhanger and I look forward to next installment coming out to see what happens next.

I'll be honest I found this book hard to keep up with for pretty much the first quarter of it with so many people, clones......etc to keep track of. For me it made it difficult to remember who is who?? Which was hard pressed for me to keep being engaged in the story but I kept at it and I was curious to see where it would lead? I really liked Delilah with her wit and sarcasm but I understood how her life was made hard work with everyone around her causing friction. I also liked how her mate Rafe was the peacemaker trying to make things better for her but he got a rough deal as well and I truly had my fingers crossed for him to get some rest bite from all of that. What genuinely kept me gripped in this book was the relationship Delilah had with Taurus. They definitely rubbed each other up the wrong way at the start of this book but they say opposites attract and these two certainly did that. I am looking forward to see what will happen next in the book now.
