Facing the prospect of all-out war between the human and wolf worlds, John and Lisa reluctantly accept that they're going to have to work together. Time's running out, but Lisa's sure that she knows how disaster can be averted. First, though, she needs to face the truth about her terrifying past.
John, meanwhile, is struggling to deal with the changes that even now are coursing through his body. Refusing to accept the truth, he tries to find some way of reversing his condition. There's one person who might be able to help, but Doctor Robert Law seems to be in no fit state to deal with reality.
Dark forces are at work in Sobolton, and an ancient agreement is in danger of collapsing. Glimpsing flashes of a terrifying future, Doctor Law knows better than anyone that the stakes have never been higher. But is an even greater threat lurking in the shadows, waiting to strike?
In Human Bonds is the eighth book in the Horrors of Sobolton series, which tells the story of one small town's struggle to deal with the paranormal monstrosities on its doorstep. Each book tells a standalone story, but there are cliffhangers and readers are recommended to go through the series in order.
Amy Cross writes novels and short stories in a number of genres, mainly horror, paranormal and fantasy. Books include The Farm, Annie's Room, The Island, Eli's Town and Asylum.
As the series reaches its climax, the story begins to make some sense. In Book 8, we are transported between the 18th century and the present day. We see how Sobolton came into being and how the centuries old conflict with the wolves began. The story is now rushing towards its final conclusion, and I can not wait to discover how it ends. It is a hypnotic series and well recommended - just as long as you read each instalment sequentially.
Well John and Lisa certainly have their work cut out for them! I really hope that they can find the pendant in time, especially now since John is a wolf! Great storytelling Amy, as usual.
Intense reading. What is going to happen in the past that is going to influence that further? The only sad thing is now we have to wait for the ninth book in the series.
This volume is drawn-out and adds fairly little to the story. It should have been included as two chapters in the previous book and two in the next book. But on we go to book 9.
Another book of filler that goes nowhere. The true horror of Sobolton is taking people’s money who want to see a series finish properly. Nope series is tougher to kill than the werewolves in the book
