Upheaval and treachery!

Excitement over reuniting with friends and starting a new year at Stonegarden is blighted with bad news about the King. The four realms are in turmoil as power seekers jockey for position. Even the students are not exempt from the political upheaval.

This book kept me riveted to the pages. I cannot wait to see what happens next. Morgan Rice has delivered another winner! I received an advance copy but my review is honest and voluntary.

Mystery and revelations

A noteworthy sequel. Mysteries, revelations, enemies and allies, all with more adventures and trials. Incomprehensible behaviour of some characters while others become friends to rely on. I'm captured in the immersive storyline. Courage and bravery but also uncertainty, insecurity and loneliness are part of the development for the heroine.
Brilliant story telling.

I was given an ARC of this book and I thoroughly enjoyed it.

Year three sees a difference in that the king is seriously ill and the four realms battle for power, which has filtered into the students. Divisions appear.

Kaela discovers unexpected news. There's also a plot...

There was plenty of action in this instalment and I particularly liked the involvement of the mana wraiths - a fascinating idea. There was a great sense of place and the characters well-developed. I also liked the first-person narrative.

Overall, this was a fast-paced, engaging and entertaining story.

Recommended.

Fabulous plot, poor editing.

I love this series, but lament the many typo errors. Lots through book 3, too many to read over and not notice. Overall I am invested in the characters and the building tension so will continue with the series.

I’m enjoying this series, but the sheer number of errors within the text in each book is horrendous. This author needs an editor, or a better one. The amount of incorrect words, strange punctuation, and switching pronouns, to name a few of the issues, is quite distracting.
