This was a very cute beach read. If you liked the book The Unhoneymooners, you will like this one.

✅ Enemies to Lovers
✅ Coworker romance
✅ Hawaii trip
✅ Sea turtles

They were both remote workers that had never met before. I loved that, because I am a remote worker and I think this is the first book I have read where that is a big part of the story. It made it unique and relatable!

I thought their love story was so cute. I actually went in with low expectations of this one, because I hadn’t heard any buzz about it yet and within the first chapter I knew it was gonna be good. Some writers just have that ability to draw you in immediately!

The only thing I felt was missing in this book was spice. There was kissing, but nothing else. Some people prefer no spice to their books & you will absolutely love this one if that is your preference. Personally, I felt the chemistry between them & wanted to see that explored more. With all that said, it was still a really good beach read and I am so happy I picked this one up!!

Thank you to netgalley for this free advance copy in exchange for an honest review.

Hazel and Jack work for the same company and are up for the same promotion, but they've never met. The only way they know each other is from work e-mails, which makes them both not like each other. When they’ve both won a week-long trip to Hawaii for being a star employee, things get interesting quickly and the chemistry between them is immediate and makes the story really engaging.

Once they realize who the other person really is, it adds a complicated twist. They’re not supposed to get along, but they find themselves happier than they’ve been in a long time.

I did find parts of the story slightly unpolished and unbelievable at times; but that didn’t take away from my enjoyment. I also would have liked to see more of the week in Hawaii. The days - beyond the first two and a half days - were skimmed over, when they were supposed to be how these two fell in love.

The third-act breakup was just a big no; it felt forced and driven by misunderstandings that could have been cleared up with a simple talk—miscommunication can be so frustrating and they both seemed to expect the other to say or do something about it but I suppose I can see why they were hesitant to discuss their feelings.

Chester the sea turtle was such a cute addition! A book with an animal character just makes it 10x better.

The big romantic gesture at the end was sweet and fitting for their characters, bringing their journey full circle and highlighting their growth throughout the story.

Even though I usually prefer stories that develop more slowly, I can appreciate a quick-paced romance when it’s done well. Plus, Evie really knows how to write a clean romance, which is always a bonus!

Thank You NetGalley and Victory Editing for the opportunity to read this! All thoughts and opinions are my own.

I feel like I hit a book slump. I received this as an arc from Netgalley. This book was not it for me. I feel like at the beginning, I was excited for some office romance on vaca. For anyone looking for spice...there is literally just a couple kisses in this one. This book was just way below the mark for me.

Adorable beach read book, that gives you all the feels. But can be read at any time of course.
Enemies (coworkers) to lovers, a Hawaii trip and turtles
So first I am gonna say I love the sea turtle elements in this book. Chester the sea turtle was such an adorable addition to the story
These 2 (Hazel and Jack) work together but remotely so they have never met and have no idea what each other looks like (wait til you hear about how they think the other one looks in the mind lol). There is a lot of miscommunication, and frustration that causes some issues and for us as a reader it can be annoying and you wanna scream at them both. Especially when they are hesitant to discuss their feelings, which they can't get away from. You definitely get drawn into the story and into these characters' lives fast, not wanting to put the book down to find out what is gonna happen next. This happens to me a lot and I can get threw a book super fast bc I am really enjoying it.
Well written. The emotions were there, the love/hate relationship, the chemistry but heads up this book does not have any spice. This was not a bad thing for me I enjoyed it this way but I know that there are a lot of readers who want their books to have the spicy scenes and wanted to give those peeps a heads up. Kissing only. The end...... The big romantic gesture did it happen or did it flop, you are gonna have to read to find out. :)

So Not My Romantic Getaway is part of the My Not So Fairytale Life Series. I had not read the previous book and found this read just fine as a standalone.

This was such a cute read. Jack and Hazel's first meet was anything but conventional... and I loved it! Throughout their first date and the best kiss though, they failed to learn one thing--- each other's names. When they finally discover the truth, they learn that they are coworkers and work rivals whose previous interactions had all been through email. It was definitely a really fun way to start the story and I found myself really enjoying their chemistry. There were definitely some moments where I wanted to shake some sense into one or both of them, but it all worked out in the end. I loved the great summer vibes in this story... and Chester the Sea Turtle really won my heart and made this story all that much better! If you're looking for a fun summer romance, this is certainly one worth checking out.

So Not My Romantic Getaway is a closed-door romance with kisses only. It did have one very minor swear.

This was a really fun romance with the gorgeous backdrop of Hawaii. Jack and Hazel are both on a reward vacation and hope to switch off from work, but fate has other plans. Although they work together it's been strictly over email and they've never met, but they are rivals and detest each other.
When Hazel makes an ad requesting pictures with a fake boyfriend while in Hawaii to help ease off pressure with her mother, Jack spontaneously answers and hopes it will take his mind of his ex. When they meet sparks fly, they have instant chemistry and it seems like a win win for them both, until they discover they are rivals and things get awkward.
This had so many sweet and swoony moments, but it really pulled you into their growing romance.
I liked their connection over animals and how they both helped each other grow. Sweet, fun, holiday vibes, and a Hea.

🌴 "It's like I told you, you look like a star in that suit. You're gonna make a scene wherever you go. You get the spotlight"
🌴 "I just had the best kiss of my life... And it was with a man I can't stand"

3,5⭐️ / 5 ⭐️

Hazel and Jack are work rivals, both holding the same position in their company. During a vacation, they start a fake relationship because they don’t actually know what the other looks like (they live far apart and work from home without digital meetings). From the moment they meet, there’s an instant connection that drives the story at a fast pace.

When they finally discover each other’s true identities, it creates a complicated situation. They’re not supposed to like each other, but they do, and both find a happiness they haven’t felt in a long time.

One of the highlights for me was the charming turtle! 🐢

The third act breakup felt a bit forced to me, as they had assumptions that could have been addressed through conversation. However, I can see why they might have hesitated to talk things through.

The grand gesture at the end was sweet and felt true to their characters.

Overall, even though I’m usually a fan of slower-paced books, I enjoyed this quick, beachy summer read.

Okay, Hazel and Jack. I liked the set up as a good enemies to lovers situation even though they were enemies for all of .2 seconds. Her desperation to have a "boyfriend" forcing them to couple up was also great. A convenience trope is enjoyed!

However, that being said; parts of the book were a bit cringe to get through, especially the kitchen scene. It was like I got second hand embarrassment? I was uncomfortable and basically pushed my way through it just to get it over with.

Their "blow up" was confusing. Hazel focused on Jess being there, but then Jack broke it off and they just never even spoke about anything after that phone call? To me that was just unbelievable so I had a hard time just accepting it as it came. He never reached out post-promotion? Never told her he was going to quit and they could be together??? Idk, just didn't make sense to me really.

At the end, I appreciated the grand romantic gesture of finding her back at the resort for the turtle ceremony. It felt very them and I was a fan of the way it was wrapped up in a bow, they get their HEA and a sweet epilogue to boot. The wedding scene logistics did throw me off?

Thank you Net Galley for an ARC of this novel in exchange for an honest review. All thoughts are my own.

Hazel just wants to get the promotion in her advertising agency (I think that’s what it was)
She has been assigned a work task with Jack Morgan to vie for the position.
Her sly boss has sent them to Hawaii for a week long vacation/work thing to secure a company switch.
Only problem is that they each detest the other.
Jack assumes Hazel is an old fuddy dutty who has control issues (based on her name and overzealous emails) and Hazel believes that Jack is a show-boater. All pizazz and no substance.
Well when they meet they have chemistry.
All up until they learn each other’s names.
Then POW!!
A wake up call rings in both of their heads.
Will Jack and Hazel be able to get past the promotion thing? And their each individual quirks?
Or are they doomed to soar on the island and crash and burn in heir hometowns when vacay is over?
Only one way to find out…
Recommend this clean and captivating story

Another great book by Evie Sterling!

This one is the last one in her Not So Fairytale Life series and even though the MFC is from Windsor, New Hampshire, the location for this one takes place in Hawaii!

I loved it from the beginning to the end. It had such cute and swoony characters, the MMC was so confident and funny, and I absolutely loved his meddling family.

I really enjoyed that the MMC brought the FMC out of her comfort zone and helped to see that life isn't all about work and rules.

Also ... there's a sea turtle named Chester! 😍

You get:
• Sweet Romance
• Coworkers
• Enemies To Lovers
• Secret Swiftie MMC
• Fake Dating
• It's Never Been Like This
• Found Family

I highly recommend you pick this one up on July 19th! And check out her other books too. This is a complete stand alone and no characters overlap.

This was such a fantastic summer read! This was my first read by Evie Sterling, and it certainly will not be my last. Evie's writing style made this a quick and easy read that kept me giddy, smiling, and laughing all way through. From the get-go, I absolutely fell in love with Hazel & Jack. On a personal level, I could relate so much to Hazel with her focus and love of work. It was such a joy watching Hazel grow as a person and having Jack aid in breaking down her shell.

This is a must-read if you enjoy page turner cutesy clean romances!!

So Not My Romantic Getaway is the third and to my knowledge last book in the My Not So Fairytale Life series, but you can read them as standalones, since even the characters aren’t really connected.

As always I enjoyed Evie’s writing style. She makes it easy to follow along, the conversations feel natural and you can picture the scenes and surroundings while reading.

She again included an animal to help the character growth and bonding. This time it’s sea turtle Chester. I have to admit, he wasn’t my favorite. I love turtles, but they aren’t really known for interacting with people (at least that’s what I think) so he seemed a bit like a tool to move the story along whereas in her other books I’ve read, the animals are really part of the story.

Hazel and Jack are likeable characters who have both been burnt in the past by previous relationships. We have a sort of mistaken identity situation - which I love - and an enemies to lovers workplace romance (even though they don’t really work together, only for the same employer and only communicate via email.)

Evie Sterling is quite talented in portraying the characters feelings and worries so you can relate to them. But something was missing and for me it was the personal, emotional connection. Of course Hazel and Jack like and even start to admire each other and I almost believed them to be in love. But I don’t really know why, since their interactions seemed a bit superficial and we don’t only have an insta love situation but an absolute focus on physical appearances. The first time they see each other they are both transfixed by the looks of the other one and even after they get to know one another better, they both repeatedly mention how hot the other one is. Hazel even goes so far to think the kiss with Jack must have been her best kiss yet because he is looking so extremely hot…

I’m a bit sensitive about this. I just don’t like this focus on looks and this spoiled the book and the characters getting to know each other for me a bit.

I still think it’s a sweet and lighthearted beachread and that Evie is a talented writer, but this was just not my personal favorite of hers.

What can I say? This blew me away , a good job by Evie Sterling. The premise of this story is brilliant and so true to life .I’m guessing with all the workaholics that are too busy stressing about work instead of smelling the sea air without a care in the world this is about you! Yeah you! So…put down what you’re doing and relax into this awesome meet cute book! Written so well you feel that you know it’s a winner. Come take a look… maybe before dinner. Hazel Thorpe has it coming at her from all angles , work constantly nagging along with her mother , she cannot stand the stress. So she gets creative and posts a Craigslist asking for a fake boyfriend….just for photos posing for mum. Jack Morgan? Well he’s decided he wants to answer this ad , make his ex girlfriend see what she’s missing , to drive her mad with a jealousy , when he finds out from his brother while on a family trip to Hawaii that she’s getting hitched . Oh Golly ! Well he’s supposed to meet up in an Hot Tub for a photoshoot but he’s made eye to eye contact with a cute woman in the Hotel Lobby, oh shoot so off he goes to prepare for his fake date and the cute woman is she and he’s full of glee. Whoopee! But of course things are going so swimmingly well and they have a fun week as you’ll probably be able to tell. With vacation vibes they do imbibe Well so to speak …until they discover their common ground ….both work for Buzzy Digital Marketing and it is calling them back to take up alms ….against each other?? They work in different states remotely you see, never having met in the company. Those aren’t just tiny obstacles they have in their way , there’s a giant boulder of them threatening their mainstay . But this is a guaranteed happy ever after right? So I know things have gotta give and bring with it delight . So patient I read of sorrow and dread safe in the knowledge things will turn out right instead. Great work by Evie Sterling , who always gives us cute characters to fall in love and think of so swell and the lighthearted style that makes her stories flow so well . Great writing with good storytelling skills . Her characters are sublime and they always have a good time. I’m leaving my review voluntarily in my own words.

✨ARC BOOK REVIEW ✨

🐢 So Not My Romantic Getaway follows Hazel Thorpe, a “to-herself”, follows the rules, guarded heart 30-year old who finds herself at the most perfect resort in Hawaii after earning a trip through her work. She’s feeling the pressure not only from work, but also from her mom who is meddling in all areas of her life. On a whim, she posts a Craigslist ad for a “fake boyfriend” to stand in for some pictures with her on vacation to send back to her mom at home.

🦜 Jack Morgan is the charming, risk-taking, makes friends with everyone guy who has had his heart shattered but still holding on to the hope of restoring his old relationship with his ex-girlfriend. He and his family arrive to Hawaii on his company earned trip when his brother drops the bombshell that his ex is getting married. Jack decides to answer a Craigslist ad to have some pictures with his “fake girlfriend” to show his ex he’s moved on…

🌴 The twist?? Hazel and Jack are coworkers who can’t stand each other. Workplace enemies who make each others skin crawl…the other catch? They’ve never met in person…so after a full day of fake relationship shenanigans, the two start falling hard and fast…only to find out their seemingly perfect answer is in the one person they detest…will this fake relationship stomp out any preconceived notions about the other? Will this end up in a romantic getaway after all?

✨ This is my first book by @eviesterling.cleanromance and I absolutely loved it!! The chemistry between Jack and Hazel was off the charts and I loved the quirkiness of their relationship in the early stages. I also really loved how each MC had relationship/commitment issues that they had to work through in order to grow for the other person. This is the perfect enemies to lovers, off-limits but forced proximity rom-com to add to your summer TBR!

Content warning: there is frequent mention of consumption of alcoholic beverages (but not issues with alcoholism) if that is a trigger for you.

Thank you Evie Sterling for letting me be a part of your ARC team for this release—everyone make sure to get your copy starting TOMORROW, July 19! @bookedwiththeemilys

I got to reasd another amazing book by Evie Sterling! I almost missed reading it but I am so thankful to @haylingbookstorm for their help because OH MY goodness it was so cute!
This is a standalone book

Hazel just wanted to go on a much needed vacation that she earned from work. But before she could even check in her hotel her evil boss sent her an email saying she had to fix a problem urgently and work with her coworker that she couldn't stand. He was also on the vacation. She tried to do it alone but ended up needing his help. But that wasn't her biggest problem. She needed someone to be her fake boyfriend ASAP. I died laughing when her plan was revealed. She is a hard worker and does everything straightforward with as little human interaction as possible. She's been hurt badly in the past. Is this her chance at happily ever after?

Jack is a hot risk taker who use to be a pro motorcycle rider. A guy who works for the same company as Hazel now. Neither of them have actually seen eachother since they work from home. Jack has a brother who is married with two kids. He brought them along for his business vacation he earned. While on vacation his brother and Sister in law push for him to meet new people especially after the heartbreaking news he received at the start of the vacation.

This story was beyond cute and had so many laughs. Learning and understanding eachother is so important and Miscommunications suck. I seriously enjoyed these two characters a lot. They were so different but so perfect for eachother. Plus Chester the Turtle is seriously the star of the book. Lets not forget the parrot 🤣

If you are looking for a sweet loving story than this is the story for you. So many things
Cute and funny things that I wish I could tell you about but I don't want to spoil a thing. The ending was seriously so cute and now I desperately want to go to Hawaii 😍

Fun random/not random fact about me. I'm an expert at singling my alphabet backwards.

If I could I’d move to Hawaii and love that this book is set in one of my favorite places on earth! And features one of my favorite animals, a sea turtle named Chester.

o Not my Romantic Getaway

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

It’s always refreshing to read a clean, entertaining, romcom. Though I spend a little too much time reading psychological thriller that sometimes I’m expecting the crazy to come out. But despite that I enjoyed this read.

Blurb:

I am stuck at a Hawaiian resort with my rival coworker…

When I won a week-long trip to Hawaii for being a star employee. I immediately ordered a cute bikini, a floppy beach hat, and new sandals. Then I arrived and discovered my good luck wasn’t all good.

Yes, I won the trip… but so did my nemesis.

Jack Morgan is impossible to work with: Stubborn, cocky, and too charming for his own good. We have a long history of contentious emails behind us, and the fact that we’re up for the same promotion doesn’t help matters.
I blame the fruity cocktail from the poolside bar for that scheming session we had in the hot tub.
Our plan to take happy-couple photos to cheer up my mom and earn him some respect points with his ex seemed like a great idea…
Because, really, posing cheek-to-cheek with Jack is more trouble than I’m prepared to deal with.
He’s a lot sweeter in person than over email. He’s outgoing and can draw me out of my shell. We’re different, but we get each other in a way I never expected. Now, we’re bonding over stolen kisses, surf sessions, and our love of sea turtles.
This vacation is starting to feel romantic, like one of those fairytales where the princess meets her prince. Or, I could be building castles in the sand…

In this romance, the palpable connection between Jack and Hazel captivates from their first shared morning until their heartfelt conversations on the beach. The dialogue is laced with humor and tenderness, perfectly illustrating their growing bond.

Jack's spontaneous affections—kisses to silence worries and playful dares—reveal a charming dynamic that's both tender and electrifying. Hazel's reflections, from her initial surprise at Jack's affection to her introspection during their beachside chats, add depth and vulnerability to their romance.

Their interactions are filled with vivid descriptions, making each moment come alive: the taste of sugar and coffee in a kiss, the feel of the morning sun on Jack’s wavy hair, and the serene beauty of sunrise walks by the lagoon. Hazel’s internal struggles, juxtaposed with the idyllic setting, highlight the challenges they face, especially as they navigate long-distance complications.

This story beautifully balances lighthearted banter with poignant moments, capturing the essence of falling in love amidst life's uncertainties. Jack and Hazel's journey is a heartfelt testament to the magic of seizing the moment and daring to take risks for love.

Evie Sterling delivers an exceptional romance with characters that leap off the page and into your heart. "So Not My Romantic Getaway" captures the essence of a perfect vacation romance, filled with humor, tenderness, and the right amount of tension.

The premise is refreshingly realistic, resonating with workaholics who need to pause and breathe in the sea air. Hazel Thorpe is overwhelmed with work pressures and her mother’s constant nagging. In a desperate bid to ease the stress, she posts a Craigslist ad for a fake boyfriend, just for photos to appease her mom. Enter Jack Morgan, who answers the ad with the ulterior motive of making his ex-girlfriend jealous. But when he locks eyes with Hazel in the hotel lobby, sparks fly, setting the stage for an unforgettable week.

Their chemistry is undeniable from their first shared morning to the passionate kisses that silence worries. Sterling's writing brings their connection to life with vivid descriptions and heartfelt dialogue. The tropical setting of Hawaii adds to the romance, with sunrise walks, sandy beaches, and tender moments under the stars.

As their relationship deepens, they discover they both work for the same company, presenting a new set of challenges. Navigating a budding romance while dealing with long-distance complications and professional rivalries adds depth to their story.

Sterling’s storytelling is both lighthearted and profound, making you laugh, swoon, and root for Jack and Hazel. The well-crafted narrative and engaging characters ensure a happy-ever-after that feels both earned and satisfying.

For anyone needing a break from their hectic life, this book is a perfect escape. Sterling's brilliant writing and the delightful journey of Jack and Hazel will leave you smiling long after you’ve turned the last page.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/ 🌶️

This may be Evie’s spiciest clean romance book to date! Our MCs kissed within the first chapters, and I don’t mean it was a chaste kiss. There was deepening, and imagining, and pushing up against walls! Then they continue to kiss throughout the book. I was here for it! Who says clean romance can’t have multiple kissing scenes that can still make you feel something?! Evie accepted said challenge and it was perfection!

Our two MCs are so easy to love and want to see happy. Jack is fun, caring, the fun uncle, easy going, a real people person. Hazel is stuck in life, but desperately trying to find her out of the rut, passionate, a rule follower, and doesn’t put off what can be done today. The two complement each other so well.

They meet by chance after Hazel completely steps out of her comfort zone, instantly attracted to each other. What they don’t know is they are rivals in the work place. Since they both work remotely, they have never seen each other, only communicate through email. When they finally exchange names, after a kiss that is filled with so much passion, they don’t know what to do. What happens on vacation stays on vacation? How would work ever know? As they continue to get to know each other in Hawaii they can’t help but give into the feelings they have for each other. But what happens once they leave the island?

Evie gives us such a fun, spicy for her story that asks the question, what are you willing to give up for the one you love? Is there anything to big? Does love truly conquer all? I truly always enjoy reading Evie’s stories and this one is no exception. Honestly, it may be my favorite one yet!

As always review trigger warnings before reading.

Title: So Not My Romantic Getaway

Author: Evie Sterling

Rating: ★★★★

Hazel thought she'd scored big with a week-long trip to Hawaii, ready for sun and relaxation in her new bikini and beach hat. Her excitement fizzles, though, when she finds out her work nemesis, Jack Morgan, also won the trip (yip yip)

Jack, with his stubborn, cocky, and annoyingly charming personality, is the last person Hazel wants to spend her vacation with. Their rocky work history and competition for a promotion only add to the tension. But after a few too many poolside cocktails, they hatch a wild plan to fake a relationship: Hazel to cheer up her mom and Jack to impress his ex.

What starts as a scheme quickly turns into more as Jack's crooked smile and charming personality make Hazel swoon. To be fair, who wouldn’t swoon?

Hazel discovers a sweeter, more outgoing side of Jack, and they bond over stolen kisses, surf sessions, and a shared love of sea turtles. The ultimate summer holiday romance.

Their fake relationship starts feeling like a real fairytale romance. But is it genuine, or just a beautiful illusion in the sand?

Evie Sterling has done it again! What a delightful read.

So Not My Romantic Getaway is a cutesy, fun read with sparkling chemistry between Hazel and Jack. Their journey from rivals to lovers is filled with humour, sweet moments, and plenty of swoon-worthy scenes. If you love enemies-to-lovers stories set in a tropical paradise, this book is a must-read!

One of Evie's best-written stories so far! This improvement has been very fascinating to see. I look forward to seeing it get even better in the future.

It felt steamier than before. This is a welcome change in my opinion. The steam made the tension higher which made the story more hard-hitting as a whole.

There were a lot of smile-worthy moments. From adorable times with Jack's family (particularly his nieces). The animals involved also made me smile a lot. The gorgeous setting of a Hawaiian island helped massively. She made the setting part of the story without it taking over too much.

The one part of the story I wasn't as in love with was how held back Hazel was by her overthinking. It felt like it took a very long time relative to the length of the book for Jack's free spirit to rub off on her at all. I really just wanted to shove them together and see her relax a bit more earlier on.

Jack's character as a whole is super adorable. From him being a certified Swiftie, to his baby fever. I appreciate that while he is a daredevil masculine man, he also isn't afraid to like stereotypically girly things. His well-roundedness is so refreshing to see. I wanted more of his perspective.

Overall, this is definitely a top contender for my favorite book by Evie Sterling. The increased steaminess, beautiful setting, and well-written MMC caused me to smile a ton while reading. If are looking for a light-hearted summery romance to read while summer is still upon us, I recommend this one.

I have read quite a few of Evie's books now and each time I see another one, I can't wait to read it. I know I have said this before but I feel like this is my favorite book of Evie's now. I absolutely adored reading about Hazel and Jack.

Hazel won a trip to Hawaii because of how well she works. When she leaves for vacation, she tells her mom she's going with a boyfriend so her mom will stop worrying about her and trying to set her up with someone.

Jack, who works for same company as Hazel, also won a trip to Hawaii and brought his brother and his brother's wife and kids with him. Jack is super charming and definitely gets along well with people.

Jack and Hazel have never met each other because both work sales from home. But neither really cares for the other based on emails they have sent. Hazel thinks he's lazy and Jack tjinks she's snooty.

When they see each other in the lobby, their eyes meet and instant attraction. Hazel puts an add in Craigslist to see if a guy will pose for pictures with her to srnd to her mom. When Jack's family see this, they tell him he should do it. When Jack meets the woman who needs someone to pose for pictures and sees it's woman he locked eyes with, he's ecstatic and so is Hazel. They have a great time together even though they don't know each other's names. Once they introduce each other, the mood sours, but they can't keep each other out of their minds.

So much happens in this book with work policies and everything. Will they be able to keep seeing each other? What will happen next? Read to find out. Oh, and I just lovec Chester the sea turtle. Such an amazing book!

Rating: 2.5ish ⭐️ rounded up
Spice Rating: 0/5 — it’s “clean romance”

This was a pretty fun, quick, and easy read. I love books set on a tropical vacation destination and fake dating, and this covered those bases. I went into the book knowing the author writes “clean romance” and so I knew not to expect any spice.

That said 👀, I felt like Jack went from so heartbroken to in love with the main character SO QUICK. They didn’t even know each other that well and they were already convinced they were falling. This and the reason behind the 3rd act breakup felt a little hard to believe. They just assume that hard and don’t talk? Idk. 😔

I had trouble getting invested in the characters and there was so many inner thoughts, I was also having trouble focusing and had to try really hard not to skim to get to the dialogue or any sort of action.

Tropes:
* Vacation
* Fake dating
* Dual pov

About: Hazel is a Sales Lead who WFH and does things more old school, despite being newly in her 30s. She’s great at her job and won a trip to Hawaii, so her life is great except she’s been lying to her mom about having a bf to make her happy. Who can help her in this lie? None other than the hot stranger she made eyes with in the lobby who unbeknownst to her turns out to be her rival co-worker who also won a trip.

### Review of *So Not My Romantic Getaway: My Not So Fairytale Life* by Evie Sterling

In *So Not My Romantic Getaway: My Not So Fairytale Life*, Evie Sterling crafts a charming and humorous tale that expertly blends romance with a dash of reality. Set against the backdrop of an unexpectedly chaotic vacation, the novel delves into the life of the protagonist who finds herself navigating through a series of misadventures. Sterling’s witty writing style brings to life a cast of relatable characters, each contributing to the delightful unpredictability of the storyline.

The novel’s strength lies in its authentic portrayal of relationships and the often messy path to love. The protagonist’s journey is filled with both comedic and poignant moments, making her struggles and triumphs feel genuine and heartfelt. Sterling’s ability to infuse humor into even the most awkward situations adds a lighthearted touch to the narrative, ensuring readers remain engaged and entertained.

*So Not My Romantic Getaway* is an excellent choice for readers who enjoy romance with a realistic edge, appreciating that not every love story unfolds like a fairytale. Sterling’s novel is a refreshing reminder that sometimes the best journeys are those filled with unexpected detours and delightful surprises.

Thank you to NetGalley, and Victory Editing for an E-ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.

First of all thank you so much to NetGalley and Victory Editing for providing me with my this ARC.

Hazel and Jack work for the same company, hold the same position but they've never met. The only way they know each other is from work e-mails, which makes them both not like each other. When they both win a vacation to the same resort in Hawaii, there's very little chance they could ever bump into each other.

When they meet each other under interesting circumstances, they have no idea who the other person is but the chemistry is more than any of them could have ever expected. They hit it off very quickly and soon after meeting share their first kiss. Once they learn who the other person they just kissed is, struggles start.

That won't stop them from enjoying each other's company while on vacation, dreading the day they have to leave.

This book! I don't know what it was about it that made me so happy reading it. Maybe it was the vacation setting in Hawaii, completely felt like I'm in there with them. Maybe it was the sea turtle Chester that I felt in love with. Maybe it was MMC, who I mean SWOON! Maybe it was FMC, who at times I could really resonate with personally. Maybe it was the whole story that I loved. This book was basically reading itself. It was perfect summer beach read.

Hazel and Jack's story was simply so cute and I loved it so much!

I'm not a first time reader of Evie Sterling but I haven't read any of the books in this series, this book was perfectly fine to be read as a stand alone. Will definitely read the other books from the series as well!

This is a feel good holiday romance to read by the beach/ pool in a worm summer day!
I can tell you that it surely gives all these summery vibes.

Hazel is a introvert girl, hardworking, that finally has a well earned vacation. She goes alone to Hawaii, and plans on enjoying it fully. Until she reads her boss's email telling she has to work to, to finish a project. And worst of all she has to work with Jack, her nemesis and lazy coworker.
Jack is an outgoing and laidback guy, that also earned a vacation in Hawaii. And on his first day there he meets a stunning girl that he want to get to know better.
Once Hazel has to arrange a fake boyfring to appease her mother, jack enters that role perfectly, and they have perfect moments together.
Only one problem.. they are coworkers, who hate each other and can't fall for each other due to their company's no relationship policy.
I think the only thing I couldn't get my head around was the nickname he gave her... It just didn't clicked for me! It sounded more like a father /son nickname, than a couple in love kind of thing. But that's me thing and it doesn't influence the story in any way.
Their relationship is conflicted, and they try to resolve everything, but have some bumps on the way.

It is a sweet and clean romance, that leads us to a little paradise for a few hours.
Go and enjoy it too!

I’ve read several of Evie Sterlings books now and I can with absolute certainty say I love her writing style. I always laugh out loud and this was no different! This was such a fun read in general though!
Hazel is an overworked, goal oriented, and has no interest in dating due to being hurt before.
Jack is a handsome, charismatic, go with the flow type who wasn’t moving on in hopes that his ex would return to him.
They work together, technically, though they are in different states and work remotely. He can’t stand how condescending she is. She can’t stand how he handles his business so unprofessionally. They win a vacation to Hawaii and meet there without knowing who each other are and in the most hilarious way! They don’t want to fall in love with each other because they can’t stand each other… or do they?! I could NOT put this down as I had to see them end up together. They have obstacles to over come though but it was advertised as a HEA so I was patient, haha!
I’d also like to add that whilst the main characters are so lovable and relatable the side characters are very likeable though they meddle a lot and make this book even better!
My favorite scene is when he’s busted for being a Switie 🤣
Thank you so much Evie Sterling and Haylingbookstorm for yet another amazing ARC to read!

As always Evie gives us all yet another brilliant book. Hazel is work oriented she's given up on romance and spends her time either working or helping her mom. Winning a trip to Hawaii through work was totally unexpected but well over due. A full week the one down fall is another employee won as well, one who she really has gelled with. That's why she loves her job working remotely from home means she doesn't have to meet other staff. Jack is really not what you'd expect he's a people pleaser and can charm almost everyone he meets. He also an adventurist whether its surfing, bike trekking or trekking the hills with his dog he just love the outdoors. A week trip to Hawaii is totally in his adventure junkie nature, except another staff member is here an the image he has of her well he will certainly be avoiding her. The trouble is he doest actually know what she looks like. This is how the story starts and what an adventure it is between the beautiful scenery the gorgeous weather and the amazing turtles (especially Chester) we go on a whirlwind of escapades. Can this turn into a whirlwind romance or will it all end in heartbreak. As always Evie writes the perfect blend of comedy romance and wonder characters we have come to expect from her

📚ARC Review📚

So Not My Romantic Getaway⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Hazel is thrilled that she won a week-long trip to Hawaii as a reward for her star performance at work. However, her excitement is ruined when she discovers that her rival coworker, Jack Morgan, has also won the trip. Jack is everything she finds frustrating- he is stubborn, cocky, and annoyingly charming. So when her boss emails her they should meet and work together for the new client, she quickly says she will handle it by herself. The plan is to never have to meet Jack Morgan in person and also not to have to work while on vacation. However, that is not the case.

This was such a cute, summer read. The characters were funny together and had great banter. The setting in Hawaii was perfect for a summer read. I enjoyed the dual point of view and that it was a clean/closed door romance. The story also touches on themes of personal growth, self-discovery and found family. It was easy to get hooked in the beginning and made for a fast read.

While this is the third book in the series, you can still read it as a standalone. This book will publish on July 19, 2024. Thank you to NetGalley and Victory Editing for my advanced readers copy. This is my honest and voluntary opinion.

✨ARC Review✨

I had high hopes for this one, because fake dating and enemies to lovers are amongst my favorite tropes, but this one fell short of my expectations unfortunately.

They went from being rivals at work to into each other in record time, and the insta-love vibe was not it for me. The fake dating ended up being a couple of pictures and that was the extent of that, because they started seeing each other for real two days after meeting. Where's my fake dating? Where's the tension that usually accompanies fake dating?

Their conflict about not dating in the workplace seemed a bit far-fetched to me, as they don't even live in the same state and only interact by email in the context of work, so what exactly is the problem?

The dreaded miscommunication trope also makes an appearance, and it seems to be there only to fuel a third-act breakup that was unnecessary to this story. I found myself skimming some parts, as I found them boring and cringey.

This wasn't the book for me, but others will for sure enjoy it as a quick, beachy read.
