This was amazing! I've been meaning to read a book by @danpadavona for quite a while, and I finally did. It will certainly not be the last one. When I'm reading something from a series, I generally start at the beginning. This is book 8 of the Darkwater Cove series, and I'm not sure how I did that. I have to get his books through interlibrary loan, and maybe I got things scrambled in the process. It worked as a standalone, though, and the author did a great job of filling in information so the reader is not lost and confused. I did find myself wishing that I had read the previous books first, though. This book is the definition of hard to put down. I was getting not much done, because I kept wanting to read just one more chapter, and then another and another. The suspense is edge of your seat, and the characters are so real I feel as if I know them. Excellent suspense. Highly recommended.

I loved Shadow's Prey, it kept me on the edge of my seat turning the pages. Usually Dan Padavona introduces the killer in the early in the story, he didn't in Shadow's Prey. I was guessing all the way through that doesn't happen very often. I loved how Julian, Darcy, Hunter and Jennifer stuck together. They were going down fighting if they have to. I have doubts about some of Julian's colleagues. In my opinion does a great job with conveying everybody's fear and frustration. In my opinion Dan Padavona gives you suspense, fear, frustration and love. In my opinion if you are a Dan Padavona fan he didn't disappoint. I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced reader's copy.

Shadow's Prey - a review by Rosemary Kenny.

Former FBI profiler turned PI, Darcy Haines and her family are under siege in their home, waiting for a copycat killer to strike again.
Determined to protect her kids Hunter and Jennifer at all costs, Darcy and her husband, Homicide Detective Julian take the threat very seriously and act accordingly.

A definite must read book and series

This series hooked me from the beginning with the terrific characters, humor, drama, angst, mystery, suspense, as well as the intriguing twists and turns in every book. It's the type of series that when you finish one book, you'll still be craving more!
This story was an intense and suspenseful thriller that caused an untold amount of emotional turmoil for this family that has already survived so much. It's a definite must read book and series!
I would definitely recommend this book, series, and exceptional author.

WOW!

My favorite (and only) genre to read is crime/ thrillers. I found myself getting excited towards the end with how descriptive the writing was. My anxiety ramped up because of the final few chapters. I don't want to spoil it for anyone so I won't leave details. But so far, this is the best book in the series.

Fast read

This one moves at the speed of light. Constantly moving. Always on the edge in fear that today may be their last. Fortifying, then doing it again. Wondering who to trust. Who is the enemy.

Good series but maybe this is the last book? Hard to believe this former FBI agent w serial killers and fans tracking her isn’t in witness protection or otherwise trying to stay safe: also how do they not live in a freaking fortress at this point or have a safe room. Enjoyed but highly Implausible

Enthralling from beginning to the end. Mr. Padavona brought on the punches with twists and nail-biting turns that even Ali couldn't have seen coming.

Padavona does it again. With what the entire family encountered, no stopping them now. But, Dan I think Jennifer is going to give you a run for the next book.....

Drama

Too much “safe room” drama in this book. A good read like Dans other books but just not a lot of action this time around.

psychological torture

The mood of this book is dark, dark, dark! Dread is the overarching emotion - the feeling of impending doom is artfully revealed.

Ach!
