Six mercenaries. One mansion filled with kinky surprises. One dangerous mission. What could go wrong?
Brooks:
Stealing things was how I made my living. Right or wrong, I was good at it and had been doing it most of my life. If you wanted something taken under the radar, you came to me. With the help of my adopted brother, Diego, we were an amazing team.
We were usually picky about our jobs, but we had bills to pay, and seeing all those zeros at the end of an offer had me taking one I never should have in the first place. Now I was in way over my head and forced to go to Luca Castellano and his team, Il Fortunato, for help. I would rather do anything but that, especially with how things ended with Luca and me last time. Still, he was the best and I refused to let Diego get hurt because of my mistake.
I told myself I wouldn’t get sucked in by Luca’s charms again. It was business, nothing more. One look at those deep brown eyes and the single dimple in his cheek and I was a goner. As hard as I tried to resist, it was impossible. Add in Skye, Maverick, and Wes, it was like all my deepest, darkest, and kinkiest fantasies come to life. How was I supposed to keep things professional when I kept falling for all these men more and more each day?
Danger was right around the corner though, and we barely got a chance to explore these feelings before we had to travel halfway across the world for a rescue mission. With chaos surrounding us, it was hard for me to figure out exactly how I felt for these guys. There was only one thing I was sure of; these five men were worth fighting for.
Lucky Boys is a why-choose action adventure romance featuring six kinky men. This is a spin-off from the Forever series under Rowan’s other pen name Jacey Davis but can be read as a standalone. Lucky Boys features content that may not work for all readers including explicit sexual content, various kinks and violence. Please see the full content warning at the beginning of the book.
DNF @ 75%, I reorganized my pantry this evening to avoid finishing this book so it's time to call it. The concept sounded interesting but for some reason I'm not connecting with any of the characters. I think for this to work I'd need to love Brooks and I just.. don't.
A MMMMMM Poly romance with mercenaries, BDSM, Second chance romance & Friends to Lovers, fluffy sweetness, emotions 🥺, Spicy kink, Action-packed fun, intriguing dynamics & Love! I'm always on lookout for good poly stories & I'm glad I found this 😍. I had fun, Loved these guys! Devoured my #ARC in around 13hrs over 2days.
Brooks is the wild, bouncy, sweetheart thief who's a Sub (& has ADHD). Diego is "prickly", sassy (but softie under) computer wiz/hacker (got serious anxiety & trauma 😭). Luca is the boss(y) & caring yet workaholic, "in-control" Dom. Maverick is big, reliable & sadist Dom. Skye is mischievous, cunning, suave masochist switch (I love him!). Wes is ex-SEAL & has a son; he's considerate, gentle Daddy Dom. It took me time to get a feel for 'em all, but characterization is on point!
Not all relationships are (or turn out to be) sexual in this Poly-family, but they're still sweet. Luca-Mav-Skye are partners/lovers & I adore them. Brooks relationship with the 3 felt primary focus as it's growing dynamics, especially as L broke his heart years ago 🙈. Luc & Wes, friends from deployment days, are long-time coming for sure! Wes + Diego (who's aro-ace but finding feelings anew) is a slowburn start but cute. B+D are adopted bro's & so sweet. My kinky ass hopes something more comes of the 2 😆. The BDSM scenes are good & steamy af. Love me voyeurism & primal play! The kink talk is cool. I love that B's a cuddle slut 🥰 & that L loves aftercare.
The plot is compelling & keeps the momentum going (Couple times a lil confusing to me, but I did end up getting it). It's the reason B+D find themselves in need of help & in the 3's mansion after all 😆. The angst isn't much, mostly from situations & Luc procrastinating on talk 😩, eh 😂. The climax is amazing (I'd've liked Luc's POV there), & loved the epilogue (ngl, I wanna see the 1st scene D+W joined 'em). Some lil typos, but it's un-proofed so I hope they're corrected in Live-version. There's few loose threads, & I want to know more of Mav's past & W+D's relationship future. It was a good ending (HFN?) & I'm excited that there'll be book 2!
So Many 🍆 so many M's. If you're on the hunt for an MM+ that's scorching hot and has an actual plot, this one's got you covered. All the characters get their moment in the spotlight, but let's be real, I'm still craving more Diego and Wes - their slow burn was torturous, but in a good way. Bring on book 2
This is the first book I've read by Jacey Davis (writing under pen-name Rowan Kingston here). The cover caught my attention and I picked it up. I was not disappointed!
In this book, you'll find: MMMMMM poly romance Action/adventure Age gap BDSM CNC Primal play 2nd chance romance Friends to lovers .... and more!
Written from multiple POVs, I found it fairly easy to find connections with all the characters. The author does a great job at developing each one, giving us the opportunity to learn and care for them.
Many aspects of sexuality are explored in this book. Maverick and Luca serve as doms (and possibly Wes), Skye as a switch, Brooks as a sub and Diego as poly-ace. In regards to all this, hats off to the author for explicitly writing how consent is key! I could write paragraphs about all of this, but don't want to spoil anything for future readers.
Unlike some MM romance books I've recently read, this one is not completely character driven. There's an actual story/plot occurring that is well thought out and intriguing. I kept finding myself turning the pages to find out what happens. This is where I had a little bit of a let down, keeping this book from being a 5 star read. Here's why:
1) The last 50 pages of the book just felt so rushed to conclude the plot in order to get back to solidifying the relationship status of the poly-family. 2) Throughout the story, we get foreboding that two side characters are being threatened, but never really learn what's going on. Then, out of nowhere, there's been a kidnapping where one gets shot. They're then found and in the hospital. This happens in the span of a page. We don't know did it or why, etc. 3) Luca and Brooks have a complicated relationship, which is fine. However, towards the end, we keep getting told how Luca was pushing Brooks away unintentionally, impacting Brooks' mental health. Maverick brings it up several times in conversation and Luca admits to his shortcomings at the very end of the book, but we're really only learning this is happening 'after the fact'. 4) Unanswered questions --- which I really am not deducting for, as I feel we'll learn more in the sequels (I hope). 5) Typos in the last 50 pages. These don't impact readability or plot, but they had me questioning whether the proofreader actually finished the book. (I'm not pointing this out to be rude, as I'm far from perfect... I likely have typos in this review!)
Overall, I did thoroughly enjoy this book and wouldn't hesitate recommending it to someone.
Lo que más me gustó del libro es la exploración y la comunicación. El conflicto viene de afuera y de las complejidades propias de los vínculos, pero no de que los personajes no hablen, tropo que odio más que ningún otro. A ver cómo sigue la cosa.
I mean this is the cleanest polygamy book with that much partner ever, in term of writing. Because i must tell you i have read a book that only have 3 people but damn the plot and all is so messy and make you head even hurt to read. But for a book that have 6 partner to have written like this is very amazing ⭐️ the author have a skill of writing a very smooth, accurate POV quantity/moment, well written relationship progression and character growth for all 6 characters 🤯 imagine to write 6 POV but didn’t even make it messy and you can easily immerse with all the character damn that’s a talent ✨
This book also show a veryy healthy poly relationship in term of how well they all sense each other down moments and be there for them & know what they need. The communication is also top-notch in sense of admitting their fault & quickly talk it out without leaving any miscommunication happening (even for Luc & Brooks moment although it did took awhile for them to talk it out but still they did).
To me my favourite couple will be Diego & Wes 😭 Wes is such a Dom i must tell you, i melt for his softness, patience and understanding towards Diego 🥹 Also seeing him being the rock for Luca just hits different, for the strong Dom Luca only comfortable being vulnerable with Wes & only ok being Vanilla with Wes are just 😩😩😩😩
Truly i have hard time to understand poly with that much partner because i never think i ever will be ok with it 🫠 i even be jealous for the character in certain moments 😂😂 even when they aren’t 🤦🏽♀️ like for example i just think even when everyone crave & love Luca yet Luca actually truly love Wes from the way he act towards Wes… and vice versa for Wes too (he did avoid relationship with Luca for 20 years because he think he is monogamy & didn’t think he can accept Luca relationship dynamic) ——— because to me it’s hard to not have favourite you know 🤷🏽♀️ even from reading it you can sense which character favor which more but not saying that all their love is not genuine.. it is ! But since we do get to be inside their mind soooo we kinda knowww you knoww…
But i do have a fun time reading this book without getting so serious hehehhe just sharing my thoughts here, since I usually read poly with 3 partner max that focus on 1 partner in center. Which make reading this book very interesting✨

“I’m sorry, Brooks. I owe you an apology.”
“For what?” He looked genuinely confused.
“Before we ever let you agree to playing tonight, I should have had this talk with you. Really, both Luca and I. I’ve kind of let Luca take the lead with anything BDSM related, but that’s not fair to either of you or even to me. I want you to be my sub and my partner as much as Luca’s, even though our relationships won’t look exactly the same. It was irresponsible of me, and I wasn’t taking care of you properly. I’ll do better.”
“It’s okay, Sir. I’m honestly not upset. Or even worried. I trust all of you. Plus, this is new to all of us, and the circumstances are weird. It’s okay to have a learning curve.” €
“Don’t worry, we’ll all get a chance to reconnect. All six of us. I think need that. But you and Luc need to have a conversation. He made a lot of promises to you he hadn’t lived up to.”
“We were busy. I understand.” Didn’t mean it didn’t hurt though. Maverick filled into the role, giving me some of the structure I craved, but Luca kept dangling this dream relationship over my head like a carrot, and I was desperate to get it. Plus I felt bad that Mav felt obligated to get in the middle of our crap. It made me want to downplay it.
“Don’t let him give you that excuse, brat. You’re part of this relationship as much as the rest of us are. Don’t ever forget that.”
“I won’t.” €
The door opened. Wes walked in first. He gave me and Mav a warm smile, but then his eyes found Diego leaning against the wall, arms crossed, and he was gone. It was like the rest of us just disappeared, and I fucking swooned. Especially when D got all red and embarrassed. My swooning hit an all-time, kick my feet and giggle level when Wes asked if he could hug and kiss Diego and my brother said yes! Yup, I almost fucking collapsed from shock and happiness when Wes lightly cupped his cheek and kissed his lips.
It was totally innocent, but D melted into the kiss and touched Wes’s arm and just kept smiling as Wes whispered something in his ear. It was beautiful, €
My ribs hurt like hell, but nothing hurt more than the hesitant look I received from Brooks. It was time to finally remedy this. This shitstorm was far from over, but even though I kept telling myself I’d put my men first, I hadn’t been. There was always something that I used as an excuse, and they all paid the price for it. I would make it up to Skye and Maverick later, but right now, Brooks needed my full attention. €
“Brooks, I fucked this whole thing. A lot.” I may as well just come out and say it, especially if he wasn’t going to give me any feedback.
“Really from when it all started years ago, I kept fucking it up. I promised you I was all in, that I wanted this, then I continued to let you down, to let all my men down. And yeah, the job was crazy, but we were all busy and I was the only one who holed myself up and shut all of you out. I talked this big game about starting a nearly full time D/s dynamic with you and then didn’t do shit with it. Then kept using the excuse that we had work. That wasn’t fair to you at all. I was supposed to be proving to you that I wouldn’t walk away again, and I did the exact opposite. I’m sorry Brooks. I don’t deserve it, but I really hope you give me another chance.”

Lucky boys is a why-choose romance featuring six men. This is a spin-off from the Forever series by Jacey Davis but can be read as a standalone. There are six guys to get to know in this book Brooks, Diego, Luca, Maverick, Skye, and Wes. I really enjoyed getting to know what each guy was like and their different kinks. Not everyone is sexual with each other but the steam between those that are is out of this world. I loved that the plot kept everything moving with plenty of danger. I'm really looking forward to the next book in the series. I would definitely recommend this book.
Omg omg omg FANTASTIC read I loved it Rowan Kingston, Jace Davis is new author for me, not now The characters are fantastic. I loved them all Really beautiful, fun-loving, bad boys story ♥️ I'm so looking forward to book 2
Ahhhh, wait a d*mn minute. What just happened? Where did this book come from? Hello? Is there anybody in here? Why is everyone not talking about this absolutely perfect poly dark mafia romance?
Ahmmm... excuse you? Read it.
Wow. What a trip. I swear I don't know what happened to me. Like, one minute I start a book I have absolutely 0 idea about (just a quote I've seen randomly), and the next, I'm hooked and can't stop reading. I legit couldn't stop. I had to do it cuz sleep and stuff, but I could wake up fast enough to continue reading. It's addictive. I need volume 2 like right now, please & thank you.
In the beginning, I didn't know how I'll keep up with all the characters, this being an MMMMMM book, the dynamic, how is that gonna work, bla, bla. No need to worry, I kept up just fine, and the dynamic was fire.
Anyone who knows me knows that while the spice is good and all, the real deal for me is the dynamic. That makes or breaks a book, in my opinion, and wow, this one was CHEF'S KISS. Was it easy? Well, of course not, but so, so worth it. You could just tell how much everyone loved everyone... how they would do anything for each other. I loved seeing how the relationships were built, in pairs, and as a group. I loved how they listened to what everyone's needs were and accepted them without judgment.
This book also has such a good plot, I can't wait to see how things will progress on that front.
As for the spice, well... it's 6 men, what do you think? It's hot, fire even, all the k*nks and stuff. Top tier.
I love love, so this book delivered big time, cuz their love gave me liiiiiiifeeeeee. D*mn. So perfect.
Buuuut, be aware that this is dark, not for everyone, and the TW list needs to be read and taken into consideration. I wouldn't want anyone to speak bad about this book because they ignored that.
Well, it's safe to say it was a 10/10 for me, will read again, and again, and again... can't wait for book 2. Byeeeee!

ahm... yeah, it was better this time around. I needed a re-read because I missed these 6 like crazy and IT WAS EVEN BETTER, WTF?
This time, I fell in love even more with the dynamic. I swear it's God tier when it comes to this aspect.
Another thing that I absolutely LOVED and apparently didn't mention in my original review is how amazing Luca's character is and how his relationship with Brooks is so far from perfect is REAL. Their relationship was the hardest one due to their past history and all that, but the way their finally got the time to talk and be real with each other was something you don't see often in this kind of books. Brooks' relationships with Skye and Mav progressed naturally, and without too many issues, the one with Luca was the exact opposite. I loved, as mentioned, the real aspect of it. I loved how Luca was not perfect, made mistakes, and Brooks called him out for it when the time was right. Luca knows he's on thin ice and needs to step up his game.
Wes & Diego's relationship was so beautiful to witness as well. Diego needs someone like Wes in his life, and the love, care, and attention help him move forward step by step.
I legit can't wait for book two. I need to see how everything will go, how the story between these 6 will progress, and also what new adventures and in what danger they will be next. God, I could read 20 books about them and never be enough.
I enjoyed a lot of things about this book. I’ve read my fair share of MM+ romance and had never encountered roles and dynamics so different for each person until this book. The spice was great. It rly had me clutching my pearls. I could feel the tension radiating off the page between all the men. I loved how easily they all fell into their new dynamic. A few things that I didn’t particularly like were how for more than half the book, Diego and Wes were split apart from their men. Like yes I understand they were also sort of building their own relationship dynamic, and Diego didn’t want to leave to house, but at the same time, Wes just re kindled his love w Luca and it made me sad that he was left out. Another thing that didn’t rly float my boat (and this just could be my lack of knowledge) was the fact that their story is on going. I don’t know if it was marketed that was by the author but from what I know, it wasn’t. Things make more sense about their story because it’s continuing but I probably would’ve waited to read if it knew I was only getting a HFN ending. One more thing that seemed to rly annoy me was lack of communication between the D/s dynamic. A dom in any sense, should put their sub first. I understand they were sooo incredibly busy fighting bad guys and tracking down people but one conversation should not have taken until the end of the book to be brought up. So many things should have been cleared up the second they started the put the D/s dynamic into play. Poor part on the doms for making Brooks go through that. Another niche thing that could just be a me issue, but I noticed a few editing errors that made me a little frustrated. I’m no English teacher or editor, hell I’m probably using all these commas in the wrong way, but come on. You’re an AUTHOR! Ur job is to WRITE. EDIT YOUR BOOK. OR AT THE VERY LEAST, PAY SOMEONE TO EDIT YOUR BOOK. Overall this book had so much potential but things were rushed and not thought out fully. Spice was good tho. I received an ARC for this book and this is my honest review.
It's 1st person, multiple (six!) POVs and yes, that means we have six men to keep up with. It should be confusing and overwhelming, but it's not. The story is long, but I think it's needed so each character and relationship is given the backstory and development they deserve.
We start with Brooks and his brother (not by blood) Deigo, who are a thief and a hacker and run a small business together. Brooks is a bratty sub with ADHD, and Deigo is a demi sweetheart with terrible anxiety from past trauma. When a job goes bad, they end up turning to Luca, the only person they know who can help.
Luca is a bossy Dom who has a history with Brooks from a relationship three years prior. The relationship left Books devastated, so Luca knows them coming to him must be a last resort.
We then meet Skye and Maverick (Mav), who are Luca's partners in all definitions of the word. Mav is a the sadist Dom who's also the reliable caretaker, and Skye is the hilarious, slutty, masochist switch. The three of them have a delicious poly relationship where they're together but can also be with others outside the relationship. They're into some really fun kinky stuff which makes for great reading!
Luca and Brookes eventually get their sh*t together, make up, and Brooks joins as a forth in their little poly family.
Then we have Wes! He's Luca's old navy buddy, who was more than a buddy once upon a time. The two of them eventually decide they can't fight their feelings any longer and end up hooking up (just the two of them).
When Brooks, Luca, Mav and Skye head overseas to follow a lead, they leave Wes with Diego to run things from home. Wes is a Daddy Dom so he just wants to care for the sweet little Diego who's anxiety means he can't leave the house. Their relationship is the sweetest of all in this book. Wes is so patient and caring when it comes to Diego, and even though Diego makes it clear their relationship may never turn intimate, Wes just wants to look after him.
Overall I loved this book. There is so much delicious kinky spice while actually having enough plot to keep it interesting outside of the spicy scenes. There are some one on one scenes as well as the group play to keep it interesting as you navigate this adorable poly-family.
It's dark, but not too dark. There are some themes that may be super triggering to people though so definitely read the trigger warnings if you have any, but if not I recommend you go in blind. It's much more fun that way!
Rating: 4.5⭐️ Spice: 4🌶
Vibes: • Poly romance • BDSM • MMMMMM (yes six) • Second chance • Lovers to friends to lovers • Group scenes • Kink • CNC • Primal play • Dom/Sub • Daddy • Voyeurism • Sadism/Masochism
Ever since I finished the Forever series by Jacey Davis I couldn’t wait to read Lucky boys. I mean, six hot kinky men in a why choose action adventure romance? It’s what my kinky dreams are made of! This was sooo HOT.
I love polyamorous relationships but usually someone gets left out or doesn’t get enough exposure especially when you have six people’s POV. But that’s not the case here. I loved the plot, the relationship dynamics, and the characterization which kept me hooked and on my toes.
We meet Brooks, our bratty cuddly sub with ADHD, who is a thief. He is in a private business together with his stepbrother, Diego, a prickly but secretly sweet aro-ace hacker with severe anxiety and a traumatic past. They run into some trouble in a job and they turn to the only person who they trust can help, Luca.
Luca is a bossy workaholic Dom who has history with Brooks and broke his heart. He knows that the situation must be dire for Brooks to turn to him for help. We then meet Maverick and Skye who are Luca’s partners, in the job and are also in a committed open relationship with each other but can also be with others outside of it. Mav is the big and reliable caretaking sadist Dom. Skye is the snarky, playful masochist switch and my favourite. Brooks is the final piece in their delicious poly relationship. There is also Wes, who is Luca’s friend but also more from when they were in the SEALS and have now finally rekindled their relationship after twenty long years. He has a son from a past relationship and is a protagonist in the Forever series. He is a daddy Dom to Diego. They have the sweetest relationship. Wes is perfect for Diego as he is so patient and gentle to him.
I love how not all relationships in this polycule are sexual, they are all different and fit into their needs. It is beautifully developed. While this ends in a HFN as there are still some loose ends, it ends on a good note for me. Loved the epilogue and can’t wait for book 2! This is a dark romance so please check your trigger warnings.
This is a Dark Romance so please make sure to check your TWs before going in.
Sometimes Poly books can get a little messy...no pun intended..the dynamics don't really make sense or just don't really fit. They just get smashed together just to make a story. That's not what we have here. The Dynamics in this book were just perfection each of these guys needed something different in some way and the little poly family they had just helped heal them all. So it might seem like alot but this story was awesome so stick with it.
Brooks and Luca had a past relationship and just as it started Luca called it off. 3 years later Brooks is a career theif with his Hacker adopted brother and Luca has his own private company. Brooks gets in some trouble on a job and needs help and the only one he trusts or can turn to is Luca. Luca agrees to help Brooks and Diego and try and unravel the mess that this job has become. Luca has business partners Skye and Mav who are also his partners outside of work. Brooks instantly attaches to Mav and Sky and slips seamlessly into their little family so now Luca has to re-evaluate his reasoning behind leaving Brooks to begin with. Wes is Luca's old military buddy who was more then just a buddy 😏😉 but called off any other relationship when they returned to Civilian life. Luca trusts Wes with this case so calls him in for help where they soon realize they might not be able to fight their feelings anymore. Diego my poor poor Diego who I just wanna roll up and snuggle. Diego has been through some trauma and due to this has a sever touch aversion and anxiety when not in his own space so he does not leave his home. Wes instantly is drawn to Diego and just wants to take care of him. The patience and consideration Wes shows just made my heart Melt. I cannot wait for the next book and to see how these Dynamics grow. I absolutely loved this little Poly family 🖤
This book had me in a chokehold, y'all 🫠 The romance ✔️, The spice ✔️,The kink ✔️✔️✔️✔️✔️✔️
I mean not only did it have SO much kink and BDSM, it also had undertones of daddy/boy which I am a sucker for 😈. I literally cannot wait until the 2nd book because I just want to live in this world with this cute little poly family, who against all odds, found one another, accepted one another and loved one another. 😍 It's seriously going to be so interesting seeing how this family of six completely comes together in the future and I am so along for this ride 🥵💥. Just count me as a fly on the proverbial walk, gagging for more of these guys 🔥.
Seriously, this book has it ALL, and yet is done in such a way that it doesn't feel rushed, doesn't feel like you are missing big pieces and also perfectly incorporates mystery, murder and mayhem alongside some new budding relationships 😘.
I cannot explain all the reasons you all NEED to read this book, but I promise if you love any (or all😈) of the tropes/kinks involved you won't be disappointed! 💜 While it is the first book, it ends beautifully and with no crazy cliffhanger, so for my peeps that can't handle a long wait after a cliffhanger fear not!
Luca, Brooks, Mav, Skye, Diego and Wes have me so dead ☠️ but in the best of ways. I'm so excited to follow them on this journey and also excited to see more of Wes & Diego, love me some daddy kink 🔥. Honestly, who am I kidding, I'm excited to see all of their dynamics 😂. Poly relationships are so special and amazing to me 💗. Also, for those who have read Jacey Davis other books, there are some great cameos of some beloved characters and insights, but if you haven't then don't worry! Nothing really truly gets spoiled and it'll probably have you running to read them right away anyway 🫣😂🥵.
6⭐️ hands down my favorite read of the year so far and definitely will be in my top 5 of the entire year!!! I have been WAITING to read a book that gave me this feeling! You know it’s good when you’re checking the page count because you don’t want it to be over!
I am simply stunned! I happened upon this from my KU recs (shout out the algorithm) and it gave me everything I was looking for in a story! Not only was this a little poly fam with a range of dynamics and tons of spice, but the actual plot line was gripping!! I was fully engaged from page 1 and not once did this story lose me.
The dynamics of these 6 and the balance of 6 POVs was impeccable! I am incredibly impressed by the authors ability to write so many POVs and connections between characters without confusing me. Each character had a unique personality and brought something completely different to each relationship and the story. Yet together as a family they were seamless despite their different connections to one another. Everything was written phenomenally and I loved every single character so much!
As for the non romantic plot, I was just as amazed at the way the author took a book they had the potential to be all smut and relationship focused, but instead balanced it with a suspenseful and action packed storyline. The mercenary element to this story had me at the edge of my seat. I couldn’t put it down!
And I was thrilled to find out this is a HFN ending and there would be a second book at the end of this year! Usually I don’t enjoy HFNs because I tend to get bored of characters but that is not the case here. I could read 800 more pages about these 6 characters and their mercenary business. This book was amazing, I can’t believe more people aren’t talking about it. I will be thinking about it until October when the next one comes out!
Holy f#ck. This book. I was excited about it when I saw the tropes and the content/trigger info. I preordered it and then was able to get an ARC. So now I have 2 copies in my Kindle library and I'm not mad about it. I'll be reading it again soon. This is an almost perfect book to me. The characters are well-developed; the new relationships in the polycule grew realistically and the established relationships were shown beautifully. This was a VERY kinky and spicy book. It was exactly what I love- kink and sex and consent and love, along with an interesting story. The ace/aro representation seemed very well-done (I am not aro/ace so I can't speak to that fully.) I appreciated the gentleness with which the author shared the character's journey- it felt very real to me as he struggled with his sexual identity and how that was changing. Honestly, this is a new fave. I'll definitely be rereading this and I cannot wait for the next one! This is one to read the trigger warnings; it is wonderfully explicit and spicy. I couldn't be happier. There is also violence and torture, on page- they are mercenaries after all! If you are into queer kinky polyamorous books please read this. Rowan Kington (aka Jacey Davis; books under Jacey are also great!) has written a truly great book in this genre and just in general. The story is engaging and I really fell in love with the characters. I laughed, I cried, I "tickled my fancy," if you know what I mean! For absolute real, if the content and trigger warnings are not a no-go for you, please pick up this book. Brooks, Diego, Wes, Luca, Maverick and Skye are so so so worth your reading time.
The way I’m jealous of this poly family is insane, man. These guys are all so. freaking. SSSSEXXYYYYY❤️🔥🥵
We get SIX, not two, not three… SIX very sexy men: Brooks: wild and free and very needy sub Diego: very broken and anxiety-ridden sex-curious boy Wes: Luca’s best friend, ex-military, gentle (very sexy) Daddy Dom Luca: workaholic, loving and strict Dom Mav: maybe the sexiest of them all, sadist and caring Dom Skye: panty-melting, cunning and tricky switch/sub
So… after this get to know each other… Luca, Wes and Mav are already in a relationship and Brooks has history with Luca… so when their world collide again the plot starts plotting and the thick starts thickening 😂 Not every scene they all have together is sexual, but many are and some relationships in this super hit poly fam also aren’t sexual… but maybe? In the future?🫣🤤 here’s to hoping for adoptive brothers to take that step and for Diego to finally completely come out of his shell🤞🏼
The story keeps you intrigued and their relationship sucks you in from the get-go. There’s a few things that open all the doors to a sequel and I’m very here for it! If you’re hoping for angst and real enemies to lovers, you will not find it here😂 the only angst you can see is Luc deciding he’s lost all coherent thoughts and him not getting it together to be able to communicate with his partners just to basically flagellate himself🤦🏼♀️ but yeah, every little things gets them together and I love it. And when Wes gets in the picture? I love it even more!
And that epilogueeee? Oh yes baby, I’m definitely here for it! I need more🤤🫠
Such an intense, complex story. Full of everything you could think of. There's daddy kink, D/s, friends to lovers, second chance, group scenes. It's literally full of all the tropes. All of the different relationships really keep you on your toes while reading and I loved that.
These characters personalities are so different, but when you put the different relationships together it works so well. Even as a whole they all compliment each other so well.
Wes and Luca have been friends a long time through deployment so the tension finally bubbling to the surface was a long time coming. Brooks and Luca have more of a heartbreaking past so the second chance vibes create the angst in the story. You have Wes and Diego developing their relationship all the while Diego is figuring out new things about himself. And then the friendship between Brooks and Diego. Mav, Skye, and Luca have their established trio that is so cute to watch. Add in Brooks and it becomes center stage for a lot of the steamy times.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book and look forward to any continuations to dive deeper into some of these developing relationships.
I received an advance review copy, and this is my honest review.
Well that's a first for this kitty, poly romance with six guys? That's a lotts dicks. Happily, they were all quite well drawn and distinct, and I rarely forgot whose POV I was in. I loved all the different relationships within the group, even though I had to draw a little diagram to keep it straight, and it certainly increased my confidence to potentially read more poly books in the future. Shout out to my ADHD baby Brooks, who was the sweetest thing ever and made me laugh out loud a few times.
I did want to see some of the relationships developed more, particularly the one between Wes and Diego, and Diego and Brooks. In some ways it felt a little unfinished, but it was all already a long book, so I guess there's only so much you can do. Despite the complexities of the polycule, there was an attempt at an external plot as well. Sort of a skeleton plot, by which I mean it was very thin, kinda dry and liable to snap under pressure. It did the job of getting the guys where they were meant to be, but was somehow not enough and way too much at the same time. Apparently this book was happening concurrently with Jay and Dakota's, which I don't think helped matters. If you're a fan of this author you'll probably really like this one.
This is the first book in the Il Fortunato trilogy. The blurb states that this is a spin-off from the Forever series under Rowan’s other pen name Jacey Davis but can be read as a standalone. I found that to be totally true. I started with this book with no prior exposure to the earlier series and I was able to fully enjoy it without a problem. It starts off with Brooks and his adopted brother, Diego. Together they are an amazing team if you need something appropriated. But then they run into trouble. Knowing that he needs help. Brooks contacts his ex, Luca Castellano and his team, Il Fortunato, for help. This is their story. The book is well written and easy to read. When you have 6 people in a relationship with each other, communication is the key. I especially loved that not all the relationships are sexual in nature. They give to each other exactly what they need. If that doesn't keep them busy enough, there is a lot of action of another kind throughout the book. And while this book isn't light and fluffy, I didn't find the dark too overwhelming. I really enjoyed this book.
I received a complementary advanced review copy of this book from the author and I am voluntarily leaving a review.
While I enjoyed the core story and its characters, some lacked the depth of others. The constant over-explanation and justification of events led to a lot of skimming, especially during conversations.
Despite appreciating a good smutty book, the sheer volume and often random placement of sex scenes were excessive, causing me to skip several. I frequently found myself mumbling "can we get to the plot, please?" and while realism wasn't expected, certain character actions and reactions felt like they leaned heavily into a "fated mates" trope, which might have been more palatable if established.
Finally, the numerous typos and layout inconsistencies became increasingly distracting and annoying by the book's conclusion.
On a more positive note, I absolutely adored Wes and Diego's relationship and found myself rooting almost exclusively for them halfway through the book: Diego's evolution felt organic, and I loved seeing him come out of his shell. Wes was charming, caring, and truly perfect. My one disappointment was missing their final conversation... why do a whole build up to that and not show it?
I believe the book would have benefited from separate stories (Skye, Brooks, Mav and Lucas VS Wes and Diego) with separate relationships, rather than intertwining them.
“Morning, trouble.” He closed the distance between us, gripped my chin, and kissed me. I swore I could still taste Wes on his lips, and I f ing loved it. I wasn’t sure how I’d be, being neck deep in this poly family, but honestly it was the f ing best. No matter who was busy or not around, there was always someone there. Someone to give me attention and to cuddle with. The connections between these men were electric, and being around them felt like an honor.’
Rowan Kingston showcases an intense set of male relationships in Lucky Boys, book one in the Il Fortunato series.
Varying ages and desires are fleshed out, as Brooks, the youngest member of this evolving poly group of men, begins our plunge into the mindset of emotional and physical dependency and need.
This book took me longer to read than usual because, as the differing relationships began to grow, it wats in no way a smooth linear line of passion and care. Each step forward was fought hard, and each earned kiss, or touch, pulled the story deeper and deeper!
I made it to 85% then had enough. It was basically two books in one. One about a polycule that likes kink, and a murder mystery with a gang of semi retired militia types who take on jobs for wealthy clients and sometimes do wet work. And yes, that’s where I drew the line. The slow unaliving of a character was just a bit this side of Nope for me. I’m sorry, for a non mafia book there was a Lot of need for disposal services. Between the excessive talking during, before, after, scenes (ok I get it, that’s Actually how safe kink should be done but ye gods it gets boring) and maybe having one too many members in said polycule it read more like a series of short smutty scenes rather than a cohesive book. As to the talking, if you feel the need to show that aspect of consensual kink once then sure. But over and over breaks the flow of the story, and this isn’t reality or a how to manual so some artistic license is ok. I think it would have worked better to either have been a kinky polycule story OR a mystery romance chasing bad guys across the globe.
After a mission goes wrong Brooks goes to the one person that broke him Luca. When two teams comes together, feelings are high. The spice was phenomenal from all the different dynamics. To the trust, care, and consent. Two teams is working so hard to figure out who is trying to harm Brooks and Diego. What I like the most about everyone is house they accept and respect one another. From how they open up and talk about everything in the open no secret hiding. To how close they are and how hard they fall for each other. The story makes you want more of these guys. You want to see them grow, and how they act together individually and as a group. And I like the fact that each one of them have their own relationship in the group and how the whole group acts with each other I just love that. Also how they become family and they would do anything for each other. And I want to know more about Matt character. I cannot wait to see what else will happen in the next book.
This book was about 6 men all coming (hah) together, some already together, others with different histories and relationships - so was it hot as all heck? Absofreakinlutely!!! But it was also a really beautiful story, a lot of different traumas, but so much respect and communication and everything in between!
It also had an interesting story of the group trying to find a missing teenager after Brooks steals some information for a job that almost gets him and Diego taken out. The group work together to figure out the mystery and beat up a few bad guys along the way - with potentially more trouble to come in the next book!
Such a fabulous story! I had a really great time reading it, I thought 6 POVs might be a bit hectic but it was written so well that nothing ever felt confusing or overwhelming with so many characters. I wanted there to be more, so I’m glad another book is coming! The spice was sooooooo good! So many different things explored! Definitely worth a read!

I was sadly disappointed by what I thought was a good plot. Wes was just annoying- calling Diego "Angel" after having met him once and texting for a few days- he goes from this aloft workaholic to suddenly realizing he can't live without Luca or Diego? Then when he gets the call his son's best friend or the son(it wasn't explained well) is kidnapped he wants to push Diego to talk about feelings so Diego has to ask him o leave 3x then says he loves him? Okaaaaay. Luca went from this supposed tough Mafia bdsm Dom to a guy who can't make time to go over limits? These two just felt like walking clichés. I ended up skimming some of the conversations, between all of the "Angel," "sweetheart," "Trouble" nicknames I was just annoyed at the instalove. I just finished this book and absolutely loved it. This is my 3rd all male harem book, and I am falling down the rabbit hole!
I stumbled over this on accident and was pleasantly surprised how much I enjoyed it. The book does contain quite a bit of triggers that should be checked before reading. There are some tough subjects with child abuse and trafficking with most things being off page.
This was a pretty steamy read with 6 men involved with each other in their own ways. Each dynamic is special, and as a whole, they all seem to love one another as a poly family.
The plot of the story was good and kept me interested. The story will continue on in a second book where the guys are figuring out their dynamic more as 3 of the members were added in the first book, and I am so exited to see how that goes.
