As the sun sets over the quaint town of Cambria, California, Cordelia Bennett, a sprightly seventy-two-year-old librarian, hums a classic tune while tidying up the bookshelves.
Just as she's about to lock up for the night, a mysterious sound startles her. She turns. The fading light reveals a chilling presence in the shadows, and Cordelia realizes she’s not alone.
Someone else is there, watching her every move—someone with one agenda in mind—making sure today is Cordelia’s last.

Georgiana stumbles into a murder investigation when she goes with her mother to check on her mother's neighbor, Cordelia, who was working at the library. A note is found that makes everyone wonder if she was the intended victim or if it was a case of mistaken identity. Georgiana is eventually hired by Cordelia's sister, whose backstory adds more pieces of the puzzle of who and why someone would want Cordelia dead. As Gigi learns more about Cordelia, the more questions and the more suspects she has. It's a fast paced story that has you thinking you've figured it out only to second guess yourself when more pieces of information come to light. I highly recommend this book to anyone who likes a well written mystery.
This series just keeps getting better with each new addition! It can also be read as a stand-alone. When Georgiana’s mother becomes concerned about her neighbor, she asks Georgiana to go with her to check on her. Cordelia doesn’t often go out, but recently she has been volunteering at the library. When they get to the library, they find Cordelia dead. Gigi then is hired by Cordelia’s estranged sister to find the killer, as she is unhappy with the local police. With all the twists and turns I’ve come to expect from this author, this book did not disappoint! I was so involved that I read it straight through.
Another excellent story by Cheryl Bradshaw in this Book 10 of Georgiana Germaine. A woman is killed in a small town library with no apparent suspects until Georgiana begins her investigation as she was hired by the dead woman's sister; the two women had grown apart over the years as they both loved the same man, the man marrying the one murdered. A great story that keeps one wanting to read it as quickly as possible, then sadddened when the story is done. However, all of Cheryl's books keeps one with their thinking caps on trying to guess the perpetrator and I was way off base on this one.
This is book 10 in this series and it is as good as the others. When Cordelia Bennett is murdered in the town library where she is a volunteer, it is a real mystery. Cordelia is not a very outgoing person. She started volunteering at the library after the death of her husband, so who wanted her dead? GiGi is hired by the sister of the victim and finds out the sisters had not spoken in decades. This was a really good read. Looking forward to more.
Georgiana Germaine is such a fun detective. This mystery was slower and harder to solve, but had some major surprises along the way! I love Bradshaw's writing because it is so easy to get hooked and engaged. You won't want to put the books down until you figure out who dunnit!! Always counting down the days for the next one!
This was an outstanding addition to the Georgiana Germaine series. There were twists & turns throughout this book, and I was kept guessing right until the end. Georgiana is a great detective and so very thoughtful & thorough! I'm looking forward to the next book!!
Written in the same style it was great. It reminds me of Nancy Drew mysteries as a girl. It’s more every day type of situations that you could run into. They get taken to the next level.. I didn’t guess the person responsible in this one.
I enjoy the Georgiana Germaine series by Cheryl Bradshaw. Georgiana has the skills and background to realistically become involved in the cases she solves. Due to the plot twists I never solve the cases ahead of Georgiana. Always an enjoyable story line and easy read.
Georgiana's mom is worried about her friend who has not returned home. When they go to the library to check on her, they discover that she has been murdered! Georgiana has her work cut out for her on this one. Several interesting suspects and a twist ending. I love this series!
Another great mystery with Georgiana. Full of twists and a reveal that blindsided me! This series just gets better. Great characters that feel like old friends. Another hit.
One of my favorite authors! Her series are always interesting and with her rating system, you always know what you're getting, which I appreciate. This series has been my favorite so far.
This was another great visit with Georgiana. I am a big fan of this series. I enjoy the surrounding characters as well as the mysteries she solves. I am looking forward to the next book!
