Christie Gordon is the author of steamy, heartfelt gay romance novels that explore the emotional journey of men discovering themselves and finding love. It all started when she stumbled upon MM fanfiction by accident—and let's just say, it was love at first read. Inspired by the genre's mix of passion and complexity, Christie transitioned from reading about men in love to writing her own stories. After taking fiction writing classes at a local community college, she published her first MM romance novel in 2009 with a small press, and she’s never looked back.
When she’s not writing, Christie watches boys-love dramas, creates digital art, or is serenaded by her snoring one-eyed rescue pug. A graduate of both Electrical Engineering (BS) and Business Administration (MBA), she spends her "day job" navigating the high-tech world, but her heart belongs to the characters who live in her books. Christie currently resides in the Phoenix metro area, though she’s also lived in California’s Bay Area and Minnesota (which probably explains her deep love of pumpkin spiced latte coffees and hockey).
She’s also the proud mother of two young-adult sons who provide plenty of material for stories—usually in the form of chaotic shenanigans. But no matter what, Christie’s always up for a new adventure, whether it's on the page or in the real world.

This book had some serious issues, the biggest one being a very odd power dynamic in the relationship. The MCs were 5 years apart in age but it seemed that one was cast in the role of "adult" and the other was cast in the role of "not adult". It was just weird, like MC2 always looked to MC1 to make all the decisions and tell him what was allowed in their relationship.
Even when MC2 asked him how he wanted his drink, this was the response:
“However you’re having it.” I knew he’d have his neat. Why ruin good whisky by watering it down?"

If he knew he wanted his drink neat, why not just say so? It seems very immature. This is repeated throughout the book.
"Ryan, my boyfriend, is probably going to spend a lot of time in Toronto with his mom this summer. If he’ll let me, I’d like to be with him.”

When MC2 returns home to take care of his sick mom and it works out because MC1 can move there with him:
"He’d thrown his career in Arizona away for me. Well, for his mom too, but really for me. He wanted a life with me."

A gem from this oh so caring son:
“It seems I have extenuating circumstances with Mom getting sick.” He shook his head. “It’s amazing how much her illness is helping our situation.”

The balance between story and sex is also off....this book feels like it's about 50% sex scenes, which is amazing considering how many storylines are also in the book.....stalking, chronic illness, coach/player, player being scouted, narration of hockey games. It was a lot, yet nothing was fully developed.
However, my biggest issue with the book was this:

Add in an annoying visit from an ex, a stalker that showed up inconsistently, a rushed ending where everything worked out a little too conveniently....this was just not a great read. Giving two stars because I did finish it and was interested in how it would end. I kept hoping it would all get pulled together, but sadly that never happened.

🏒 Coach/Player
🍁 Secret Relationship
🏒 College Hockey
🍁 Stalker
🏒 No third-act breakup

The main reason my rating is so low is because a lot of this made me angry.

Jonah was a sweet baby, but boy was he irresponsible. He has to know sneaking into hotel rooms on the road was a stupid idea.

Coach was more responsible, but he was also kinda crappy as a boyfriend. He lied to Jonah and for the love of god, would NOT shut up about his ex. Who was a dick! And he had the nerve to be confused why his boyfriend was mad that he went out to a bar with his ex who was trying to hook up with him when he already told him he was going straight home.

I also didn’t like that there was no resolution for Owen. He was literally a stalker who sexually harassed people and tried to sexually assault him. He should’ve been reported to the school and the police. It absolutely pisses me off that that is an address. Like, did they not consider he could be harmful to other people too?

Anyway. Check out my highlights for some of the things that piss me off.

Ryan and Jonahs story was everything. From fate to a stalker to a secret. Their story wasn't without challenges to work out. The chemistry was great and it was well written.

Secret love 💕

Jonah, a rising star on the college hockey team, is totally smitten with Ryan, from the word go. But there's a problem: Ryan is one of the team's coaches. This could cause so many problems for both of them, Ryan also has a stalker, which means even more trouble might be waiting for them.

As soon as the guys hooked up, I did wonder why they would take such a risk, when there were literally weeks left of the season. I know they were both smitten kittens, but it really didn't make sense to me 🤔 Ryan in particular should have had the common sense not to take a risk which could have impacted them both negatively. Jonah has the excuse of youth, and the newness of his feelings, the excitement of young love and all that... However, I couldn't help but feel that Ryan should've reigned him in.

Despite this, their secret relationship, which is full of risks, and a whole lot of awkward moments, as they try to keep it hidden, really comes across as sweet and genuine. The bond between them is very well written by the author, and there was never a chance of their 'forbidden' love crashing and burning. There's some angst, but not a great deal and, on the whole, their love story plays out without any breakups, they're obviously head over heels from the start. The epilogue is sweet and leaves the couple in a great place.

As usual, a great performance from Finley Cole. He always brings the characters and their emotions to life. He captured their angst, but also their love for one another. Well narrated, and a lovely romance.

I tried so hard to like it. Nevertheless, it was boring and it didn't entertain me. Still, I'll continue reading this series. (Update: I only got through the third one, then I gave up. The third book was, in contrast to the others I read, the best one).

Crossing Lines is the second book in Christie's new Desert Ice Hockey series, and follows the story of Jonah and Ryan (player and coach, respectively).

First of all, I loved the deep bond that was formed between Jonah and Ryan. From the beginning, the relationship between them was honest, without misunderstandings and trying to support each other in difficult times. Something that I don't think is easy to do, especially since they had to keep said relationship a secret.

However... Out of all the Christie books I've read so far, this is the first time that I'm not sure I totally like one of the MCs. And I'm talking about Ryan. I know it must seem contradictory, because how can I like the story and the relationship between them and yet not one of the MCs? And to explain it, I might have to give some SPOILERS, so if you don't want to read them, this is where you should stop.

I don't know if Ryan's a people pleaser, weak, or just doesn't know how to say no:

First, we have the situation with Owen. They meet at the Club On The Mill, have a one night stand, and then Ryan doesn't want to have anything to do with him anymore because Owen is ALREADY showing him several red flags, but nevertheless, Ryan still goes to his place and has sex with him again a second time. And then Ryan arranges to see him again at the Club, knowing that he DOESN'T WANT to have anything to do with him? However, he lets Owen kiss him, etc etc... In the end, he blocks him. But... It doesn't end there. Ryan runs into him again another night at the club, and agrees to talk to him? (Well, this is where Jonah becomes his knight in shining armor)

Then, the fact that he doesn't say no to Jonah either, risking his career. I mean, he only resisted for a couple of weeks. And then, he was fully involved in their relationship.

And then, we have the situation with the ex, who happens to be supposed to be his best friend... The ex says “I’m coming to visit your city, we’re going to hang out, go bar hopping and how about a threesome?” And maybe it doesn’t show, but Ryan hesitates. Yes, he hesitates! His immediate response is not “No, I’m in a committed relationship with Jonah” but rather he hesitates and then t hinks“No, I can’t do that to Jonah, he deserves more.” Afterwards, the 3 of them go to dinner, and Laurent (the ex) constantly teases Jonah, and Ryan, instead of telling him to stop behaving like that, shares drinks and locked gazes with him? WTH? I mean, I understand that they are close friends, but he is his ex and his new boyfriend is meeting him for the first time and he sees his partner’s doubts when faced with these provocations... Oh sorry, yes, I forget that when Jonah goes to the bathroom is where Ryan, laughing, says “Laurent, behave yourself…" Again… WTH?! Oh, and after telling Jonah that he is NOT going to go to any other bar with his ex after leaving him at Jonah's house, what does Ryan do? He ends up telling Laurent yes, and they end up going to the Club! And yes, I admit that the next day the first thing Ryan does is tell Jonah that they went there, but the main reason is because they had a confrontation with Owen!

So no, the truth is that I don't really like Ryan. I understand that at some point we all have a hard time saying no. But he always has a hard time with everyone! It doesn't matter if it's a stalker, an ex, or a player on the team where he is one of the coaches! From what I've read in other reviews, apparently I'm the only one who feels that way, but oh well, I need to be honest.

However, and despite everything written above, I do recommend the book. It's entertaining, romantic, and spicy. There is some drama, but the relationship between the MCs is anything but toxic, and thanks to the good communication between them, they manage to overcome all obstacles together.

I was given an advanced copy and voluntarily wrote a review.

Something drew me to Ryan and Jonah from the minute they appeared. For them, it was love at first sight (or maybe lust at that stage), but they couldn’t keep their hands, and later their lips, off each other whenever they had the chance. Being a coach and a player on the hockey team, they did try to keep within the boundaries of that relationship, but when Jonah rescued Ryan from his stalker, all bets were off for staying away from each other. Ryan was such a nice guy, he never was able to be believably forceful when trying to stand up for himself, but Jonah had enough “tough guy” in him to make up for it. For Ryan, trying to keep a developing relationship on the down low is difficult with a guy as persistent, persuasive, and adorable as Jonah. Their relationship developed naturally, if a little quickly, but the chemistry was undeniable from the beginning. I liked the support Jonah had from his gay teammates, as well as the less obvious support from the coaches for Ryan as more became known. Despite a real creep causing trouble for Ryan, Jonah, and possibly the team, it all worked out in the end. I also appreciated the close relationship both had with family, especially their mothers (loved the mostly regular calls home —something that doesn’t seem as usual today with adult “children” in my experience). Overall, I just had a really good feeling throughout the book, even as problems kept cropping up, making Ryan and Jonah work to maintain their close connection.

I also identified with Jonah growing up just outside the Twin Cities, as that’s where I grew up. I can remember skating on frozen ponds in winter, and spending time in downtown Minneapolis, so that part brought back memories of years ago.

I really enjoy Christie’s writing and her engaging characters. She weaves the world of hockey into her books so well, I think I could understand the game, if I went to one, much better than before reading her books. Anytime I see a new Christie Gordon book, I know I am in for a great story, and this one was no exception.

I received an ARC from the author and this is my voluntary review.

Crossing Lines delivers everything expected from a captivating sports romance novel and more. The combination of instant attraction, deep love, scorching passion, dedication, plenty of hockey, and some suspense makes the novel engaging and a page-turner. C. Gordon does not shy away from emotionally complex issues either. However, by addressing them subtly and sensitively, she keeps the narrative light-hearted and not overbearing.
I have read several of C. Gordon’s books. Therefore, fluent writing and vibrant descriptions of situations and emotions are no surprise to me. While avoiding over-descriptive language, there is enough context and depth to the characters to make them relatable and likable. I was pulled into Ryan and Jonah’s story immediately. The plot is straightforward. However, adding Owen into the mix, along with a fast-paced and dynamic narrative, creates enough tension to keep the reader’s attention.
The attraction between Ryan, a hockey coach, and Jonah, a prosperous player, sparks immediately. Despite being aware of the controversial nature of their relationship, they cannot resist a strong pull toward each other for long, regardless of the consequences.
Based on vivid descriptions of their inner thoughts and reactions, the passion and love between them feel real. Giving more context to Jonah’s past and family would enhance my understanding of his motives and feelings. Regardless, the exciting narrative, captivating writing, depth of emotions, and twists and turns kept me intrigued from the first to the last page. The story ends without a cliffhanger.
The novel does not feature dark drama, high angst, suspense, action, or violent themes with troubled and controversial characters and topics. If that is what you are looking for, you might want to skip this read.

This is the 2nd book in Christie's "Desert Ice Hockey" series, and features Archer's best friend Jonah, a winger on the ASU hockey team and part of "The Squad" - a group of 6 queer hockey players who share a house together in Tempe. In the first chapter when the new Defensive Coach Ryan is introduced to the team mid-season, sparks start flying right away between player & coach and immediately we're off to the races.

Not gonna lie - I had an emotional edge reading this one. Player/Coach relationships raise morality factors. Up here in Canada where hockey is king, this issue has been exposed negatively and lives have been ruined because of it. The fact that Coach Ryan didn't have the self-control to wait until the season was over to act on his attraction with Jonah made me like him less. Christie makes the point that Jonah is an offensive player and Ryan coaches defense - so technically Ryan is not directly coaching Jonah. And they are 23 and 28 respectively, so consenting adults. OK. But he's still in a leadership role and it's a fine line they are dealing with. The entire read I was waiting for the shoe to drop and their relationship to be exposed. When it finally comes, Ryan & Jonah get lucky and the rest of the team & coaching staff circle the wagons for them.

We had a similar trope in the "Rock U" series. Caleb & Eric got tangled-up in a professor/student relationship in "Never Let It End." So we've kinda been down this road before. Ultimately, things get sorted successfully for these two and you feel good for how things evolve. Great Epilogue. The bedroom scenes are really spicy and bring plenty of heat. Several visits to the Rainbow Bakery bring back memories of the "Mesa Boys" series. Add in a psychotic stalker and you've got yourself a great read that will keep you turning the pages. Looking forward to Mason's story next. Ultimately, Four Stars for this one!

A pleasure to read the second volume in the “Desert Ice Hockey” series, featuring Archer's best friend Jonah.
A beautiful story, love at first sight, a forbidden yet inevitable love.
Jonah and Ryan can't fight their mutual attraction, even if to everyone else it seems terribly unreasonable. They can't fight it, and their relationship only grows stronger, even if it has to remain hidden.
As always in this author's universe, the relationship between the two heroes is healthy, full of listening and compassion. We love Jonah and Ryan's complicity, even though they're at very different stages in their lives, they're there for each other, which only makes them stronger, even if the outside world, and in particular the rules of the field hockey world, don't work in their favor.
A good read, full of sweetness, tenderness and just the right amount of spice.
I can't wait to discover the next couple!

----

I received a free copy. This review is submitted voluntarily.

Jonah Boehm is a senior in his final hockey season with the University team. Ryan Gibson is a new defense coach on the same team. We learn that Ryan came mid-season because he was caring for his mother who had cancer. They are struck with a “coup de foudre” in the first chapter but both want to avoid each other. On New Year’s Eve, Ryan goes to a local gay bar and hooks up with Owen, who resembles Jonah. Owen evidently has a screw loose and starts stalking Ryan after the latter blocked him. Jonah saves Ryan when Owen attacks him, reviving a knee injury that ended Ryan’s hockey career. Jonah takes him home and the first steamy scene occurs. Because of the coach/player situation, they are forced to keep the relationship secret, though like all secrets it eventually gets out. They both overcome a number of hurdles on their way to a happy ending.

First off, this book has a lot of steam, so if that’s a problem it should perhaps be avoided. The plot has enough twists to keep the reader interested. That said, the strings are masterfully woven into a whole story that makes this a good read. The two main characters are totally sympathetic and are completely into each other. Both are very protective of each other and are sweeties. The secondary characters are diverse, from wonderful members of the Squad to the disturbed Owen to the ex who doesn’t initially approve of the relationship, and they make substantial contributions to the storyline. There are no really extraneous characters.

Christie Gordon has quickly become one of my favorite m/m romance authors, and her latest release, ‘Crossing Lines,’ only solidifies her status. As the second book in the new college hockey series, Desert Ice Hockey, this novel continues to follow a group of queer hockey players known as The Squad. Gordon’s talent for entwining heartache, pain, and love keeps readers deeply engrossed in the story and its characters.

This installment focuses on Johan, a member of The Squad, and Ryan, the new coach for the team. As their paths intertwine, they each battle their demons while searching for a happy ever after. Gordon’s portrayal of their journey is both relatable and heart-wrenching, making you root for them on and off the ice.

One of the remarkable aspects of Christie Gordon’s storytelling is her ability to evoke a wide range of emotions. From the initial struggles to the ultimate triumphs, she captures the essence of life and growth through her characters’ experiences. In ‘Crossing Lines,’ you will find yourself cheering for Johan, Ryan, and the rest of The Squad as they develop both personally and as a team.

Despite the rollercoaster of emotions experienced throughout the book, readers can always count on a hopeful and happy ending in Gordon’s stories. ‘Crossing Lines’ delivers just that, leaving you with a sense of satisfaction and warmth. Whether you’re a long-time fan or new to Christie Gordon’s work, this book proves to be an engrossing read, making you eagerly anticipate the next chapter in the Desert Ice Hockey series.

3.5 – 4 Stars

I enjoyed this, I thought it was a fun read and I really liked Jonah and Ryan together, they have great chemistry and such a strong love for each other they just cannot deny. It has a good pace, genuine emotion and a good mix of sweet and spice.

Ryan is a new young hockey coach and Jonah is player in his final year in college and from the moment these two meet, it’s an instant intense attraction for them both. I liked that it had a bit of forbidden romance but not too extreme, yes there is the coach/player dynamic but given that Ryan isn’t one of Jonah’s direct coaches he doesn’t really have any influence over his playing and I thought it was addressed well throughout the story. The focus really was on these two and their feelings for each other and just how they were going to make it work. There is a good amount of insta-love, but I felt like it worked for these two – again instant and intense attraction, they both feel it and really embrace it. They are both easy to love and easy to root for!

Overall, I enjoyed this book and the series. It’s a great, fun group and I like getting to know them all. I love how these friends support each other no matter what and we see that continued with Jonah and Ryans’ journey. There is a good amount of drama and struggles mixed in for these guys but they figure out how to get through it together. Definitely a series I will continue to read and look forward to.

The first time Johan saw the new assistant hockey coach, he took his breath away. Ryan was young, gorgeous, and everything Jonah was looking for in a guy, with the slight problem of Ryan being a coach and Jonah being a player on the college hockey team. That slight problem does not stop Jonah from pursuing Ryan and is an essential part of their relationship.
Crossing Lines is the second book in the Desert Hockey series by Christie Gordon. It is a fun, sweet, romance that tells the love story of two characteristically tough hockey players who are there to love and support each other. This book includes members of the squad that were all introduced in book one of the series but they do not take over the story. One thing I enjoyed the most about this book is that the focus was on Ryan and Jonah. In book one of the series, there were many mentions of other side characters from previous series that the main characters sometimes were lost. That was not an issue in Crossing Lines. Jonah and Ryan had to hide their relationship from everyone, and in doing so, the focus of the book was on their relationship. They have troubles they need to work through and decisions that have to be made but they make them together.
I love how Christie Gordon includes an epilogue at the end of her books so we can see how the characters are doing. I am looking forward to book three in the series.
I read a complimentary copy for my honest review.

The moment Jonah sees the new defense coach for his college hockey team, he knows he is in trouble. This feeling of needing to get to know him is strong. Something he has never felt with anyone before. And when their eyes connect, Jonah can’t help but wonder if Ryan feels it too. Ryan came to this job after taking his mother who was now in remission after treating her cancer. He is ready to do a good job and start fresh in a new place after also being out of a relationship for a while now. But when he sees Jonah, he knows things could take a turn for complicated. He is attracted to him, no doubt. And it becomes clear that Jonah feels the same toward him. And even though technically he isn’t Jonah’s coach, he is still part of the hockey staff. Would that matter? He isn’t sure and doesn’t want to take a chance. But when Ryan finds himself in trouble with a one time hook up turned stalker, Jonah is there to save the day. And they both finally cross the line they’ve been treading for weeks. And there is no going back after that. Not after they have proven their connection could be so much more. For now, they’ll have to keep it a secret. But can they make it through the season? I really enjoyed Jonah and Ryan’s story. It was clear these two were smitten from the moment they locked eyes. I loved getting to know these two characters and find their way to their happy ending. I’m liking this series so far and I can’t wait for the next one to come out!

The first time Jonah and Ryan are in the same place their eyes telegraph that they are interested. Each has a hard time looking away which is noticed by the folks around them. The problem was that Jonah is a college hockey player and Ryan, a new coach hired in to help with the team. They each realize that a relationship with one another is risky given their roles on the team but they are drawn to one another and keep doing things to stay in one another's orbits. Temptation winds up being too much over time and they start out having to be together on the hush until Jonah is done and ready to move on to a professional hockey career. Jonah does share how he feels with his bestie Asher who is also in a relationship that for him was life changing. Jonah was definitely a good match for Ryan who was still recovering from a failed romantic relationship with someone he was still friends with and a hook-up experience gone bad with someone in town who takes way too long to get the hint that they were not going to be more. Being with Jonah for Ryan seemed to be a step toward being in a healthy relationship that built his sense of self, something he seemed in need of. I enjoyed their story and am looking forward to the next one in this series.

So, first there was the Mesa Boys series, then there was the Rock U series, and now we have the Desert Ice Hockey series. We're getting a decent book universe here apparently although there's not as many cameos from previous series as there are in some other book universes I've read. This second book had a pretty good plot featuring Jonah and Ryan. Ryan is the defensive coach of Jonah's ASU hockey team, but as Jonah is an offensive player, they justify their relationship because Ryan isn't his direct coach and doesn't have any say over Jonah's ice time. Even though they both claim later to have fallen in love at first sight, they don't actually start their relationship until a month later mainly because of their coach-player connection, as the school's guidelines are vague about whether it is or isn't okay. For a few different reasons, they end up moving back to Ryan's hometown of Toronto where he will coach at the University of Toronto and Jonah will play for the Maple Leafs, an NHL team. One thing I appreciated about this book is that there isn't a big coming out statement to press and fans that creates a big fuss. It gives the idea that he and Ryan have a chance at living a quiet life without major harassment. Anyhow, I didn't have any major complaints with this book, as it was a fairly typical sports romance overall. I'm having fun reading this series.

Whew! The heat between Jonah and Ryan was off the charts from the first look!
Unfortunately, a few obstacles and extremely irritating things had to be dealt with.
The heat and love level throughout this book was intense.
The friendships and support that Jonah has with his teammates/housemates is wonderful. They have his back in all things just as he has theirs. It was great to see the characters from previous books.
Ryan is a man who has been hurt both physically (hockey injury) and emotionally. He's come to make a fresh start at Jonah's college as a coach. Little did he know he'd meet the person he was destined to be with.
I did not care for 2 people who reared their heads in this story, but it is what it is. Thankfully it all turned out ok.
There is a very sad element in this story, as the reader will find out but that too will be handled with care and support.
Absolutely love Ryan and Jonah together.

A skillet would have come in handy, but the author handled this person beautifully.
So heat, lust, love, creepiness, anger, sadness and success roll over throughout this book.

I highly recommend this and very much look forward to the next.

A LOW ANGST FORBIDDEN ROMANCE!💕 ⛸️🥅🏒

The second book in the Desert Ice Hockey series was a blast!

I enjoyed the banter and constant teasing once again from the team mates but most of all I admire their continuous support for each other like a true found family!

Now Jonah Boehm and his team mates are in their final season before graduation and this is where he meets the new defensive line coach Ryan Gibson and falls skate over feet for this gorgeous sweet man…

There is a bit of stalking from a previous hookup that Ryan had on his first night at the local gay club and a visit from his ex to add to the mix but other than that the angst factor is reasonably low regarding their affair and the repercussions and outcome with depictions of their highly steamy forbidden relationship in steamy detail!

Their dynamic was surprising and sweet and their connection instant with sweet and funny moments with a beautiful epilogue!

An engaging read with a subtle context regarding cancer and overcoming it!

Mason is next in line to fall…. Can’t wait!

I voluntarily received an ARC and this is my honest review.

🏒 coach / player
🏒 out and proud hockey player
🏒 secret/forbidden relationship
🏒 stalķer

The story line is really to my taste: sport, coach and players, hotness level, the dynamics of the group of friends. I really liked this side of the story.

Both characters fell in love at firat sight (coup de foudre) The attraction was there. The tension, the hotness. D@mn, they were hot. 🥵

I understand that they have decided to start a secret relationship, but I don't understand why they take such a high risk in public places like sneaking in hotel, longing at the bar, overhearing a conversation, the club, not quite discreet.

I really liked this book. A nice continuity to the series. Although the stalk-ish side reminds me of the previous series which was a bit darker and I really thought that this series would be a little lighter. It doesn't take away from reading experience, but personally I prefer to see the good side of people and when it falls into the "stalkish" side, etc. Well this side didn't click with me. I was more annoyed by this subplot than anything else. What kept my interest mostly was the main plot.

I received this as an ARC.

Little bit confusing at the beginning – the books starts out like I'm supposed to already know who these people are, where they are, and what sport they're playing (yes, I know, the sport was obvious if I'd looked at the cover). It would have helped to have read book 1 first. Even so, things were sorted out within a few chapters.

This is definitely an HEA – everybody gets what they want by the end (including the stalker), but the nice part was that they got there in a way I didn't quite expect. It's always nice to read something that doesn't follow the same formula as everything else.

I think if anything really bothered me about the story, it was that the main characters made some really dumb decisions – they were just lucky it all worked out for them in the end. On the other hand, it might be more realistic than some other things I've read, as Jonah is only 23, and 23 isn't necessarily full of common sense.

In conclusion, it was well written, and I was entertained. Now I need to go back and read book 1.

This is book 2 in the Desert Ice Hockey series. While there is an overlap of characters, this book could be enjoyed as a standalone. This is the story of Jonah Boehm and Ryan Gibson. Ryan is a university hockey player hoping to get drafted to a NHL team. Ryan is the new Defensive Line Coach that joins the team at Christmas time. Unusual to join a team mid-season but Ryan has family business that he needed to take care of before joining the team. As soon as the two meet, there is an instant spark. But Ryan is a coach, though not specifically Jonah's coach. so he plans to wait until end season to do anything about it. Too bad he didn't take into account how much Jonah wants him. This is their story. I loved this book. It was well written and easy to read. It is easy to get lost in their story. Of course, the path of true love is never smooth and they both have to work to get what they truly want. I am looking forward to the next book in this series.

Crossing Lines is a heartwarming romance that brings together Ryan, a hockey coach from Canada, and Jonah, a player on his new team in Arizona. From the moment Jonah spots Ryan on his first day, sparks fly, and Jonah is quick to pursue him. Though Ryan tries to maintain a professional distance, he can't resist Jonah for long, and they fall for each other fast and hard.

The chemistry between Ryan and Jonah is undeniable, and their journey is filled with sweet and tender moments. While they face some obstacles, their connection only grows stronger. Watching them navigate their relationship is both heartwarming and fun.

I especially enjoyed how cute these two were together. Their dynamic felt real, and their story kept me invested from start to finish. While this is a standalone, I would recommend reading the first book in the series to get a fuller picture of the supporting characters and their backgrounds.

"When it came to matters of the heart, I was utterly weak."

So, we have Archer's bff Jonah falling head over heels for the new defensive coach. Like we don't know that's going to cause drama.

I loved how cute Ryan and Jonah were, especially when they were first crushing on each other while unsure of how the other felt. I also loved how tight and supportive the squad is. They really do make a great found family.

The chemistry between Jonah and Ryan was hot and the games were exciting. Yes, some of it was predictable but still enjoyable. The only thing that bothered me was the whole Owen thing. Ryan should have slapped a restraining order on him and cit that off at the start. I can't believe he was allowed to get away with his nonsense.

I'm looking forward to Mason's story next but sad the squad is already splitting up. I can't imagine what it'll be like with only three of them left next season. Yes, it's inevitable they will each find their lives but I hope they are able to keep the friendship they've developed. Family, after all, is forever.

Enjoying this series (an audio review)

Christie Gordon always writes enjoyable reads. She likes to keep me on my toes, though. Her characters often skirt the line of impropriety – in this case, coach and player. Yes, Ryan isn’t technically Jonah’s coach. But the power imbalance still exists. I’m able to look past it because it’s fiction. In real life I wouldn’t necessarily be cheering. Same with professor/student situations. And there often seems to be a blackmailer in the background – which lends an air of tension, but also makes it clear I’m not the only one worried about the relationship.

What I loved about this book – the found family of Jonah and his friends at their house. All gay hockey players. The realism of having a sick family member. The feeling that maybe life isn’t perfect but that you can make the best when dealt with a bad hand.

Finally, what I really enjoyed was Finnley Cole’s narration. He does a great job and I always enjoy what he brings to these great stories. More, please.

This was such a fantastic read! Jonah is in his last year of hockey when they get a new coach, Ryan. Talk about instant and hot chemistry as soon as these two look at each other! Jonah’s friends of course notice right off the bat and tease him but try to discourage anything but Jonah just can’t help himself. When Jonah sees Ryan at the local gay bar in a bit of trouble, he helps him out and their attraction comes to a head. I loved seeing their relationship evolve and they sure have to work at it as they have to keep it on the DL and it definitely ain’t easy when Ryan has a bit of a problem with a crazy stalker. These two are just the sweetest and so protective! My heart goes out to Ryan for everything he does for his mother! I absolutely loved these two together and they made such a wonderful couple! This was a very sweet and enjoyable story that I very highly recommend! This is my honest opinion of this complimentary copy of this book

Crossing lines
Wow, what a fantastic read Blew me away!

I was totally blown away with Ryan and Jonah story.
This is an instant love read kinda. Because to be honest as soon as their eyes land on each other they knew it was too late, they know that they were it for each other. Ok so there was a slight problem. Ryan Gibson was the new Hockey coach for the desert ice college team and Jonah was on the team. But it didn’t dampen the attraction.
Ryan went to a local gay bar and hooked up with Owen (who looked a bit like Jonah) to take his mind off Jonah. And the guy turns into a controlling stalker. Jonah can’t help but put himself close to the coach everyone noticed he had a crush but Jonah knew it was more than that, he knew in his heart his life was with Ryan. So what will happen?? Will Ryan get rid of his stalker?? Would Jonah finally get his man??
it is a beautiful story with twists and turns and you will go through every emotion reading this book. I totally fell for Ryan and Jonah and the other members on the hockey team. Christie has this amazing ability in her writing that’s makes you feel like these main characters are your friends. I have got to say the passion between Ryan and Jonah is hot like furnace hot and they go through a lot for each other, but it was worth it! They had a unbroken connection
Oh what a fantastic read and I cannot wait for the next book in the series.
I received an ARC of this book, and now I am choosing to leave my honest review. Easy, five star.

This book is the second a new series of the author about hockey players. It has everything I love in a MM romance book, two strong, smart and sweet main characters, instalove, chemistry, a bit of angst, no third act breakup and no (too much) miscommunication.
Jonah is a college hockey player, with the promise of a great future in NHL, who is stricken by lust (or even maybe love?) when he meets the new coach. He needs to be with him.
Ryan is the new coach, who was once promised to a great future un NHL but had to quit after an injury. He has an ex-boyfriend, a stalker and an immediate very strong attraction for one of the players in his team (even if he's not his direct coach). He tries to fight the attraction but something (fate?) seems to pull them together.
I read this book in a few hours, I was captivated and couldn't put it down. There a couple of issues that do not seem very realistic, but well it's romance ;-)

Jonah has the energy of a golden retriever. Ryan is sweet, but cautious. He constantly felt like he needed to be the 'adult' in the relationship. Shocker. He wasn't.
Yes, there was a lot of steam and sizzle between the pair. And angst. Owen provided danger. The other players were supportive. But I couldn't get past what both of the characters could lose. Ryan's job. Jonah's place on the team. The respect of the other coaches. And as hockey is a small world, their reputations and futures. Fools. Yet it was impossible to dislike Jonah and Ryan. Ryan really needed Jonah to help him heal emotionally. And this seemed a 'I'll burn down the world for him' type story.
The book touched on some dark themes and some sad. Stalking. HIV. Cancer. Finding their way through is classic Gordon.
Did I enjoy the story? Yes. Am I anticipating Mason's and Ace's? Oh, yeah. Quick, mostly fun.

After reading Christie Gordon’s series that came before the Desert Ice series (Mesa Boys and Rock U) I was so excited for this one because hockey romance is one of my favorites genres. I enjoyed the first book in this series but was a little iffy about how I’d feel about this one since the coach/player trope isn’t my favorite but I was pleasantly surprised. Jonah and Ryan were both very likable characters which made me root for them and their love story and the book had just the right amount of steaminess. I also was pleased to see that the topic of HIV was dealt with in this story more so than in most of the other M/M hockey romances (and really M/M romances in general) I’ve read. While not a huge focus of the book, it’s good to be reminded that it’s still an important concern among this community. I’ll be counting down the days until book 3 is here and we can get to know more about Mason’s match.

I received this as an ARC and this review is submitted voluntarily.
