Foxx Honeywell here and holding on. You all know where we left off. I suppose I always knew that life often has moments—painful moments—that have you questioning every choice you've made that led up to it. Questioning if you had done something a little different, moved just a bit faster, delayed a little less, would the outcome have changed. I’m here to tell you, those questions are bloody pointless! The only question that matters is: how are you going to make it right?!

Well, you know me, I’m sure as hell not going to forget or forgive, and Harlow would laugh at even the suggestion. So, with every fiber of my being, I say, bring on the bloodshed!

I've been eagerly waiting for this book to come out and while at this point I'm used to Shelby cliffhangers, the way the previous book left off had me absolutely gobsmacked. I NEEDED to know what happened and if everyone was okay. And... I definitely got those answers I was looking for in this book.. I don't want to spoil anything but I will say this.. Shelby, how could you?? 😭😭

I knew going into this that this book in particular was going to be more emotionally charged than the previous books, however, I was NOT ready for all of the emotional turmoil that was involved. My heart was breaking for Fox, Harlow, Tony, Iggy, and Santiago the whole time I was reading this. And of course it broke for a certain handler too but for a different reason.

Even though these characters are grieving and are sad and also angry, I was so proud too see Foxx and Harlow communicating honestly and leaning on one another. And!! Harlow discovers that he isn't as emotionless as he once believed, he learns that he does care for people and can miss them, he just feels those things in his own unique way. I personally really liked getting even more of a personal insight into how Harlow feels certain things in his own way, and doesn't feel other emotions at all. It's interesting to me. Foxx is usually a bubbly ball of sunshine and while he is still that in this story too, it's more dulled because of all that's happening. (Understandabley so) It was heartbreaking to watch his sunshine-y personality dim.

As I briefly mentioned above, Fox and Harlow's relationship developed even further and grew a deeper and stronger connection in this book. I enjoyed seeing them getting more comfortable with each other, opening up more, leaning on each other, and I honestly just adored seeing them be themselves with one another. It made my little heart happy to actually see them grow more!

In the previous stories the name Gavin was mentioned but there was never much more information given than just his name. That changes in this story! We get to finally 'meet' Gavin, and I have to say I absolutely adore him!! He clearly loves Harlow and truly views him as his older brother which is just so sweet. Even if Harlow disagrees. Gavin's interactions with Foxx are priceless! Those two together will have you laughing out loud in no time.

As for the overarching plot, we finally get to see them find Maverick and take him down once and for all. Along the way to finding him though they discover more experiments, and a huge secret that Maverick's been hiding. I liked how the conflict wasn't resolved right away, they took their time dismantling the despicable man's operations before they found and took him down. If you don't like detailed gory scenes, then you might just want to skim over the fighting scenes... They can get pretty gruesome...but are really well written!

Shelby has once again hit it out of the park with this one and I'm really looking forward to not only Iggy's story, but I'm also eager to find out what exactly happens next... Especially with the way this book ended, and yes, this too ends on a cliffhanger.. I want to know what's in store for Iggy after everything he went through and how his relationship with a certain wolf will develop...

If you don't know, these books are NOT standalones, you have to read the previous books in order to understand everything that's happened and what's currently going on. So, if you're interested in reading this book, you have to go read the previous books first. I promise you, you won't be disappointed!

Wow, this was intense but totally worth it

I'll be honest, I've always had a bit of a love/hate relationship with Shelby's cliffhangers. Generally speaking I loathe cliffhangers with a vengeance; it perhaps says something about Shelby's writing and characters that I am willing to suffer through them. After the end of the last book I was admittedly rather beside myself on having to wait for False Morality but wow, was it worth the wait. I will say, it's a book that is emotionally devastating in some ways. I cry easily with books (a bizarre reversal of how I am with real life) and this absolutely wrecked me. I'm talking, puffy face, can't breathe through the nose, swollen eyes, the whole shebang. But as is always the way with Shelby's books there were also moments were I was truly laughing or giggling along. It's the mark of a truly talented writer to be able to get you to those genuine moments of joy whilst also having you sobbing in other moments. I definitely think this book was the one that added the most to Harlow and Foxx's relationship in terms of depth. Don't get me wrong, I've loved their relationship so far, but going through something so heartbreaking, having to deal with those emotions personally (and even coming to realise that you have those emotions) whilst also dealing with them collectively is massive relationship wise and it showed in how much deeper their relationship felt. There was a solidness that developed out of the heartbreak; I guess (for my metaphor loving self) the difference between a younger tree weathering a storm an older one - both have roots and both are strong but the older one's roots are deeper, thicker and stronger. That's kind of how their relationship felt, like it was a tree that had matured into something big and strong and beautiful. Anyway, enough of waxing lyrical about Harlow and Foxx; I have to give a shout out to Gavin who was a beautiful, bright spark in the book. I loved that we finally got to properly meet him as he's a total gem. There's obviously so much more to come and I (as usual lol) await it anxiously and eagerly!

Highly recommended for sheer excitement, sheer excellence, and utter mayhem and madness. I’m a fan.

Rating: 5🌈

A cliffhanger ending from the last book delivers , via Shelby Rhodes incredible story, several heartbreaking moments, a great comeuppance for a villain, and , wait, another heart stopping cliffhanger.

What a hair raising, pulse pumping, white knuckle ride this book is. It’s everything we’ve come to expect from this series and author and then piled on with a mountain of narrative cherries. Fabulous!

Rhodes’ has the story five further into the dynamic between Harlow and Foxx, what the ongoing trauma of events is doing to them each and separately. It’s a needed exploration, with these characters, and their dark histories and damaging stories.

The other characters, the ones we’ve come to love too are focused on here, in ways that will have lasting impact on everyone. And Gavin? Love Gavin. I really needed him here. IYKYK.

And as if there aren’t already enough words of caution, I’ll add mine. This is probably the most bloody, violent and potentially disturbing book of the bunch. Just Fyi. Read the warning but these novels have to be read in the order they are written. And honestly, it’s Shelby Rhodes.

Highly recommended for sheer excitement, sheer excellence, and utter mayhem and madness. I’m a fan.

*I got an arc but also a headache from all the crying*

cw: death, gore, panic attacks, torture, sexual situations between MCs while torturing people

"False Morality" starts where "Thirst Quenched" ended and did not pull any punches. This book is more serious than its predecessors purely because the stakes involve people both the characters and the audience care about (hence the crying on and off). There is still some classic Shelby Rhodes fun (especially with Gavin entering the mix) so it isn't dark all the time-- but don't go into reading this thinking it is a happy book. There are happy moments and heartening moments but, at its heart, the book is a revenge quest. I absolutely did enjoy it (especially poor Gavin's trauma from PDA) but maybe I shouldn't have read it on a day I was already dehydrated (oops!).

The only real quip I have is that there is a character that readers haven't met with shitty motivations that affect one of the b-line plots. Unless I missed something, there isn't any realistic reason for her to act that way, so the whole conflict comes off as vaguely misogynistic and confusing. It could be this is leading to an issue in a later book (I have asked for clarification) but it left a sour note in an otherwise very well constructed book. *Edited to add that yes, this character arc is related to later plot points as confirmed by the author*

Heart-wrenching & Delightful All At Once

I admit to being a huge fan of The Adventures of Harlow & Foxx series. I wait for every release like an addict for a fix, so when I tell you that every book in this series is WORTH your attention, please know that I mean it, but be warned. It’s highly addictive. False Morality picks up where we left off in Thirst Quenched and the first 5 chapters had me experiencing existential crises, disgust and ugly tears all at once. Foxx is on a MISSION and he will not be stopped. So of course Harlow joins in and OOH BOY does it take us to some amazing places. This is a darker romance with some gore and darker themes so if that isn’t your bag please consider yourself warned. But honestly it’s so damn good. I remember something the author Shelby Rhodes mentioned about this particular series and I think it bears mentioning. This is paraphrasing here people. She said one of the best things about this series is that truly awful villains actually get their full comeuppance. And yeah, they really do. Read the series. Read this book. You will not be disappointed.

Major anticipation leading to book 5 due to that cliffhanger in book 4...and when I got here...well...sadness and a lot of tears. Foxx and Harlow are experiencing some major emotions along with tragedy to the extreme. And how are they gonna deal with it all...by going on a murdery spree and they bringing along Gavin...the cutest and sweetest dragon brother that have major secrets of his own but is willing to get down and dirty with Foxx and Harlow. On this murdery spree...we have small bits of happiness, a lot of humor(Foxx is downright hilarious), some sadistic sexy times and a whole lot of torture, blood and gore...all in the name of revenge...the journey was a wild ride and the ending of the spree was satisfying. There are still questions out there but of course Shelby loves to leave us wanting with those dang gone cliffhangers...I'm still all in...can't wait!

The story picks up right where the last one ended. Foxx and Harlow have a lot to deal with in this one. The guild has exploded and they need to see how’s left alive, who’s dead, and who’s been changed. And then there’s Iggy who’s been kidnapped. Harlow didn’t really care too much about that until he had to. And for someone who claims to have no emotions he cares for Foxx so much. There’s the usual hot moments along with some violence to deal with. Foxx and Harlow are going to make people pay. This arc ended really well but there’s so much more for these characters to deal with. I can’t wait to see what’s going to happen next for all these characters cause I had a lot of fun. I also don’t want to say goodbye to these insane violent cuties. Get ready for a wild ride for all these characters. And there’s some heartbreak in this one but there’s also revenge for it.

This is a great series and this is just another amazing addition. This series must be read in order. This world and characters are great. The story is so engaging I couldn’t put it down. The story took me through all the emotions. I definitely found myself crying many times. This story is full of adventure, action, heartbreak, and great characters and story telling. I love both Harlow and Foxx so much. I loved watching their relationship progress more and deepen in this story. I also enjoyed learning more about out the side characters. This story is a little darker than previous stories because of the stakes and things that happen with the overarching plot. I’m excited to see what happens next! I highly recommend this whole series.

"False Morality" plunges readers back into the intense world of Foxx and Harlow as they relentlessly pursue Maverick, a dangerously bigoted and speciesist terrorist, and dismantle his organization. Beyond the central mission of revenge, the narrative delves into Harlow's compelling journey of building a chosen "family," contrasting with Foxx's ongoing struggle to confront deeply rooted past trauma. For dedicated followers of the series, "False Morality" promises a cascade of shocking revelations that will grip you until the final page. This is a must-read installment that significantly advances the overarching storyline.

Picking up where the previous book left off, Foxx and Harlow are on the track of Maverick.
There is an explosion at the Guild where secondary characters are either injured or killed. Iggy himself is kidnapped.
Foxx and Harlow are joined on their mission by Gavin. I really thought e added something to the story and loved him. Loved the scene in the diner where Foxx has a temper tantrum, magic, pure magic.
For a longish book, this read really quickly. I loved the story and their revenge but the ending, a cliffhanger. I am hoping there is another Foxx and Harlow book but there was nothing mentioned.

Heartbreak Awaits

After the bombing of their Guilds headquarters, Foxx and Harlow are out for revenge and they want it to be bloody. Someone they’re close to them dies, another one is kidnapped and many have died, so now they’re after Maverick who is responsible for it all. There are a couple of surprises and a kind of happy at the end of the book.

I did cry several times during the book, it broke my heart in these places. I did love reading the book and yes I want the next one asap.

Great addition to the series!

I loved False Morality by Shelby Rhodes. It's the fifth book in The Unwilling Adventures of Harlow & Foxx series. I loved how Foxx and Harlow managed to traumatize both Gavin and Santiago with their torturous sadistic fun as they tracked down Iggy's kidnapper and dealt with him. I loved the twist with Iggy and can't wait to read his book, and I loved the twist at the end of this book, which means we will get another book in the series, and I can't wait to find out who is outside Harlow's door.

I read this book using the Kindle unlimited app.

i actually tried savouring this book, but it was too much.
I just love fox and Harlow interactions, this book is a bit more bleak than the previouses, however it gets more real. Both Fox and Harlow gain dimension, their world expand, we finally meet Harlow's family, and there is a story there i can see it. There are many interconnected threads that the plot twists around, i just hope everything is going to find a satisfying conclusion or at leas a wrap up.
Shelby Rhodes has become one of my favourite authors and that's mostly thank to the dark humor and deep empathy her books bring on.

This was another amazing addition to 'The Unwilling Adventures of Harlow and Foxx." I just cannot say enough wonderful things about Shelby's style of story telling and her imagination. The development of the overarching plot keeps me begging for the next in series. Character development is continuous and new facets keep coming to light. Side characters get fleshed out further and I am left begging for their stories. 100% recommend, but you must start from the beginning.

I can't tell if the ending is another cliffhanger, or if it's just an "oh fuck, not now again" way of closing the Adventures of Harlow and Foxx, but it's not that important. I'm just looking forward to Iggy and Santiago's story in Blue Bird, the first book in a new spin-off series.

You might want to grab some tissues I cried a few times while reading this. Harlow didn't understand what is emotions mean. Halow just wanted to fix whatever the problem is for Foxx. Harlow and Foxx plus Harlow's kid brother Gavin hunting spree for those who was responsible for hurting the innocent and people they cared about.

This installment was intense! Be ready for both tough nail-biting suspense with violence and cry worthy scenes. Harlow and Foxx are in some serious situations throughout this one. But no worries, I still enjoyed some light and smile worthy moments that usually included Gavin of course. Harlow is still such an emotionally confused man, but I love him anyway just like Foxx.

Intense

Foxx and Harlow are back in the thick of things.
They go through some deep, emotional stuff and you as the reader go along for the ride.
Throughout all the fast-paced action, danger, drama general mayhem they also grow emotionally and learn to communicate much better.
They're finally able to defeat their nemesis, Maverick.
I really enjoyed getting to know Gavin.

Perfection

Dee’s Grade: A+

I’m in love with this series. This book was another phenomenal edition to it. This series does the cliffhanger the way I adore. We feel closure over the main focus of this particular book. Then we have new mysteries to be solved in upcoming books.

Go ahead and fall in love with Foxx and Harlow and the supporting characters too.

Foxx and Harlow

I am... so... confused. I of course loved the series. But it ended on a cliffhanger while I thought this would be the last book in the series. I'm not sure if more will be added on or what so I'm honestly not sure where that leaves us.

Worth the Wait

After the cliffhanger from the last book, I could wait for this one to come out. This was definitely worth the wait though. Things get intense in this book for Harlow and Foxx but it all made for an entertaining read.

I received an ARC and this is my unbiased opinion
