It kinda seems like the author set out to rewrite 7 Habits of Highly Effective Families by Stephen Covey, but the end result isn't as insightful or practical. Basically his rockstar of a wife runs the household, and he seems to just show up with charts to grade everything and everyone. If you're looking for a helpful book on how to actually run a family, stick with Stephen Covey's book or Large Family Logistics by Kim Brenneman.
This was super good! Lots of really really good ideas. The only thing is, either both parents really need to be invested in these ideas, or one parent with lots of engines needs to get it rolling.. and my engines are pretty sluggish these days... so, I'm hoping maybe this winter to incorporate some of the ideas in this book into our family life.
I enjoyed this book overall and it really made me think about a lot of things I need to change in my family. I loved the author’s personal examples and I certainly appreciate his experience. I did struggle some with the lengthy processes he speaks of. Everything I do with my family needs to be simple. I feel like simplicity was lacking some. But I am glad I read it and would recommend it, especially for those who are very business-minded as I think this book would make more impact to business minded people.
I ateeeee this book up OMG! If you have read personal development books and or business efficiency books this is the icing on the cake. Nothing infinitely new but all the charts graphs and thought processes to follow through. Template for a weekly family meeting??? CHECK oh and quarterly and annually, check and check
If this guy and the girl that wrote Mother’s Rule of Life did a weekend seminar I would be there.
