A FALLEN OFFICERGlenn Turner was a big strong cop, a good friend, a loyal husband, and a loving son. But Glenn died in agony—his body racked with spasms, his mind plunged into delirium. And by the time he was found dead, Glen's wife was more than ready for his funeral.A SEDUCTIVE WIDOWJulia "Lynn" Turner, a former sheriff's assistant and 911 operator, had a thing for men in uniform—and for their money. While detectives and forensic examiners ruled Glenn's death the result of a virulent flu, time would tell another story. Lynn was already secretly living with Randy Thompson, a firefighter, who would meet the same excruciating death…A POISONOUS TRUTH…Driven by family who would not give up their quest for justice, a new investigation and an explosive trial eventually exposed the truth about a woman who had a way of making men die, and about a means of murder that was pure intoxicating evil.
I like that the author told this interesting black widow case in a concise manner, but the end is without the "real end," which I discovered through an internet search. I would expect an addendum but it ain't here. I won't give it away, but it's interesting. I would like more detail about "that."
It is hard to understand why some people think money is more important than someone’s life, never mind two lives. Two men suffered terrible deaths because of the greed of one woman who managed to keep feeding them anti freeze whilst she was pretending to look after them. It seems such a heartless thing to do. The book is quite good with views from fellow workmates, friends and family and I did enjoy reading it.
Ann rule was my favorite true crime author. I didn't think I would find someone with her style.... Really digging into what makes seemly normal people do horrendous things. I have found her!!
An interesting case with a shady individual at the core. The author brought this true crime story to life.
Lynn felt every bit as slippery as she was in real life. The level of conniving was astounding. I have been fascinated by the criminal psychology aspect which was explored through her behaviours, words, manipulation and motivations; the mask she wore. The victim Glenn was brought to life, I felt his character and popularity and the people that loved the big ‘teddy bear’ cop. I could sense the loss that his loved ones felt.
Towards to end, as we wrapped up the legal proceedings, it didn’t always have my attention as I often find, when it gets to trial, there is some repetition as they go through evidence we’ve already read about. However, I do feel the author held some details back with regard to day-to-day life with the perpetrator and titbits of conversations so that did still hold my interest.
lynn who was born Julia lynn was a former sheriffs assistant and 911 operator with a wild past with police officers she set you eyes on glen turner who was a motorcycle cop when glen took sick everyone thought it was the flu even glen himself till march 3rd 1995 he died... everyone was shocked and the blamed his wife lynn… she soon moved on to randy Thompson who was a fire fighter and he also died than it has everyone wondering how 2 health men can get sick and died so easily....
How anyone can say this is a well written book is beyond me! How anyone can even attempt to compare this amateurishly written piece of garbage to Ann Rule is beyond comprehension!! She, the author, jumps from 3rd person to 1st person then back to 2nd person and then back to 3rd person.................will drive you crazy!!! Impossible for anyone to follow this insanity. I gave this "book" about 20 pages before I deleted it. Worse written book I've ever picked up.
Never before I was scared of a person like this... Usually when we got gifts from people, we tend to think that they like us, they care about us, but not this one. Moreover, she almost outsmarted the law enforcement and got away with these murders. If only she moved quite far and nobody knew both victims, I think she could have been still roaming free, perfecting her antifreeze Jell-O.
