The Nomad returns this summer in Test of Faith, the exhilarating second Gideon Ryker thriller from the bestselling author of the Jason Trapp series.
A month ago, Gideon Ryker’s sister betrayed him to the cult known as the Brotherhood. He nearly lost his life. A whole lot of Chosen thugs died trying to capture him. And then Julia let him go…
Four weeks on, all Gideon wants is to lay down his arms. But he’s no fool. The second he stops running, the Brotherhood will catch up to him—and destroy everything he holds dear. And in ex-CIA officer Zara Walker, he’s found someone worth fighting for.
The problem they know that too.
Gideon wants peace. And he’s prepared to kill for it.
I received an ARC and I am voluntarily leaving an honest review.
The story begins with Gideon and Zara in W.V. where they had been hiding out. The Brotherhood has been looking for them and they barely escaped earlier. Zara has been working on trying to decode a drive that contained information that would be evidence against the Brotherhood. They made arrangements with another individual to do the job. When they went to meet him, they learned that they had been sold out and were set up to be killed. They managed to escape with the assistance of an unknown individual. This then introduced them to the group known as "the Faithless".
Read along and discover all the actions that they had to take as they were pursued by members of the Brotherhood. Discover what plan was developed and what obstacles they met as the put the plan in place. When you reach the end, you will learn that this will lead into the next book in the series.
This is a definite read and a series you will want to follow.
It would be really helpful for the reader to have read #1, Code of Arms, in the Gideon Ryker series first, but this can be enjoyed as a stand alone. The Brotherhood is a cult, a militarized cult. They are after Gideon. Gideon's sister is a believer. At least she was until she realized this was just a prison. The Faithless are a group of former believers who got out before all the killing started, but they still have loved ones inside. Zara and Gideon were betrayed and would probably have been killed if the Faithless group didn't show up. Now they have one goal, rescue the remaining innocents before all are massacred. Plenty of action and quite a surprise at the end!
This is book 2 of the series. Out of character, I gave an excellent review to the 1st book, Code of Arms, (I don’t usually review a series until book 3), and was hoping I wouldn’t be eating my words after a book 2. Thankfully, Test of Faith is even better. We’ve got a good one here. Be prepared to enjoy.
Interesting book in the way it was the first book in the series but it turned to be about secret groups which reminded me about some books I read whith "Illuminati" guys trying to rule the world. Not sure whether I will look into the already released third book in the series.... Jason Trapp was good and Blake Larsen was even better, but Gideon Ryker, in my opinion, was not so good
Slater is a great adventure writer. He know technical war strategy and how to describe the details to the reader. You hang on each twist and turn and can't wait to understand the thought behind each strategic move. Can't wait to read Book 3!
Great read, and tethered close enough to reality that at times it is almost scary. Gideon and Zara characters are getting very well developed. Can't wait for the next book!
OK another great read it’s hard to put the book down. The trial and tribulations keep coming! This story has action that doesn’t quit and not all the good guys walk away unfortunately.
I really enjoyed the first two books but didn’t realize there it was not finished. Very disappointing to waste my time reading without an end not coming until next year or even if it will be the end.
Good action and fast paced. Liked the characters and the storyline. Not overly wordy.
Action from the start. Fast paced and reader doesn't get lost in over abundance of fine details. Would recommend this book to readers of light fiction.
The second book in the Gideon series was full of action and suspense. I did think that an odometer told distance and not speed, that’s what a speedometer tells. Otherwise a good book and I can’t wait to read book 3.
Amazing how much damage one individual can do.... brainwashing and killing his "followers. Of course Gideon saves his sister, but she has a very long way to come close to recovering.
Enjoyed. Keeps you engaged. Develops interesting characters I’ll keep going through the series. I can’t say these books are as developed as say a Ludlum book but who cares
It turned out to be quite good. The start was slow and boring. I came close to not finishing it, maybe about one third of the way in. I still don’t care for it as well as the Jason Trapp series. I looked for book 3, but it seems not available for kindle.
Another blockbuster by Jack Slater. This guy knows how to write thrillers and is quickly becoming one of my favorite authors! If you haven't read any yet, get one. Guarantee you won't be disappointed!
First Ryker book was terrific. This one not so much. Author again chooses not to have an ending hoping you'll buy book 3. I will be passing. Want to read a story that has a conclusion.
Loved the story and the ending just wished they would have killed Gabriel and made the piece of shit suffered a fraction of what his followers were suffering
I am enjoying this series. It's well written and the characters are well developed. Good job and keep up the good work. I am looking forward to reading more.
