We are all flawed, but God can turn those weaknesses into strengths.
The apostle Peter’s passion and imperfections make him one of the Bible’s most loved and relatable people. Even when Peter gave up, gave in, and gave out, Jesus was there for him. Join Lisa Toney as she follows Peter through his time with Jesus, from the beginning of Jesus’s ministry to the Resurrection and through Pentecost, where Peter begins to live into his call. Along the way, discover the raw honesty of a man who veered from staunch devotion to moments of doubt, mirroring our own human struggles.
In the six-week Bible study Perfectly Flawed, we see that there is an unparalleled power Jesus gives that can only be found in our weakness. We discover the strength of Jesus that is available to each of us. Learn to persevere in your faith, live confidently, and boldly step into God’s purpose for you. See how Peter’s story is an invitation to embrace imperfection, find strength in the relentless grace of God, and discover how each one of us is perfectly flawed but still deeply loved by God.
The participant workbook includes five daily readings for each week, combining the study of Scripture with personal reflection, application, and prayer.
Other components for the Bible study include a Leader Guide and teaching video available on.
We used this book in the Bible study I teach, which was chosen by consensus. It was okay, but not great. I had a few complaints that it was too much reading. Also, it was supposed to be a study about Peter, but took awhile to get to him and then missed some important things, e.g. Peter walking on water? There were some minor errors in editing but one major one in week 6 where we're told to read John 9:51-56 - no such verses. Lisa also refers to James and John as the sons of rage???? I have always heard them referred to as the Sons of Thunder and could find no commentary that says anything else. It was just jarring.
Some of the ladies liked the book that they could use it in their daily devotionals. They said they just ignored the errors and knew I would correct it.
The book was okay that it gave me some guidance, but I rewrote most of the lessons.
There was a lot I liked about this book. It has a lot of scripture for you to read and look up. The questions are not very complicated. I like that for each new week it has a joke, an activity, a challenge. I like that it tries to help you memorize a specific passage throughout the week of the study. The reason I gave it 3 ⭐️ is because in multiple places in the study the scripture it is referencing or is wanting you to read through either is notated wrong so it has nothing to do with what the chapter is discussing or the passage doesn’t even exist. It could be frustrating at times when trying to understand what the author was meaning for us to look up and it took away from the study.

My Bible Study group did this study and it was great. Peter is my favorite Bible character… He messed up a lot, but Jesus loved him anyway and used him to share about Jesus and his love. I like the way she includes lots of Bible verses that you wouldn’t think would go together, Old and New Testament verses together. Her style of having you read, and then asking specific questions makes you think, and I learned much more about verses that I have heard so many times, but learned how they could apply to my life specifically. I would love to do another one of her studies.
