Although I didn’t get too far I did try really hard. This has all the makings of a great book. The writing is good, it’s a bodyguard romance. I don’t forsee any cheating or OW drama, the MMC is possessive. Sounds promising right? But idk what it is. It may just be me and not the book.
There were too many eye rolls inducing moments for me. The first time these two lock eyes on each other her panties get soaked and his dingaling gets hard. All with just a look. And then from there all we hear in their monologue is how bad they want to do each other. How wet she gets every time this man speaks.
I don’t understand how she doesn’t realize he is her friend from childhood. He calls her the name he used to call her when they were kids, he pretty much came out and said it. He’s like “I missed you Mea Davina” and so of course you would think she would be like omg this is my old friend but no she talks herself out of thinking it’s him. Like nah it’s just a coincidence. Why in the hell is he saying he’s missed you then If this is a man you just met who just happens to call you the same name as your childhood friend. It makes no sense.
Also she’s very eager towards him and his advances even though she’s fallen for her bodyguard in the past and it ended badly. She was 16 and was taken advantage of by her 27 yr old bodyguard and he broke her heart so naturally you think she would be cautious about that happening again with this bodyguard she’s attracted to but no she’s all into their flirting and touching. I would have liked to see her walls up a little bit since she’s been hurt in the past and then have him slowly break them down. These two have been in each other presence for two days and all she can think about is riding him!!
I’ve read hundreds of mafia books (this isn’t necessarily a mafia book) but never in a book have I read that the bodyguard is to live in the same room as the person he is guarding!! They stand outside the door 24/7 but never has one actually moved his clothes into their charges room and lived with her. That was bizarre to me.
Another thing is Blaze tortures and kills one of the bodyguards in the next room. As he’s doing it he tells the guy “good boy” when the guy listens to him. I was like wtf? I found that kind of cringe honestly. Also he kills the guy and he can’t have anyone find out and yet he texts someone to come clean up the mess? How in the world is his outside source going to get into that house to clean up a murder?! Made no sense!
I’m bummed because I wanted to see how everything played out but I just couldn’t push through it. I may come back at a later date to finish it.

I just found it bad.
I'm sure there are explanations of why a 29 years old let her father and his henchmen treat her like that (no.) and why she's being punish in her room for simply having a drink after work while being accompanied by a bodyguard (still no) and why she needs a bodyguard in her room 24/7 (wtf?).
Also pretty sure they used to be friends and she doesn't seem to remember him even though he's using the same surname like he used to + how can you not recognize him that much, unless there's an amnesia trope (I really hope that's the explanation).

I received an e-Arc copy of Blazing Desires. My rating/review is fair and honest.
Davina is a bookworm with Daddy trauma in need of a true protector. Blaze is a gorgeous, sinfully sexy man with a hidden past.
the plotline is going to keep you invested, and the passion is going to light you on fire.
I loved the budding romance and tension between these two characters. The flames of desire leapt right off the page and kept me begging for more.
This book was so enjoyable for me. It's a little dark, a little twisted, and a whole lot of 🫦 "yes, daddy"

This book was both fast-paced and sweet. I loved how Blaze was so devoted and obsessed with Davina, always caring for her even after all these years🥹🫠 He was very protective of Davina, and I wanted to wrap her in a big hug because of the abuse she suffered at the hands of her father🥹 Blaze did everything he could for Davina, and I really admired that about him😮💨 The best part was when Davina got revenge on her father and showed how strong and badass she was🤭

-OWD: there is no OW, but I think he hasn’t been with anyone else for a while since he has some experience, but he doesn’t give me any manwhore vibes. Also, the h and H haven’t seen each other since they were both kids.
-OMD: There are no major OM, but there’s a guard who wants to harm Davina, and Blaze deals with it. She’s not a virgin, and we don’t know when she was last time with a man.
-No cheating
-HEA: Yes with a epilogue a year later where they are married.

Davina has been kept a virtual prisoner in her father's house for most of her life. She's not surprised when her father assigns her a new bodyguard to shadow her every move. But Blaze isn't just there to protect her. He's there to get revenge, and Davina might just be caught in the crossfire.
I felt for Davina and the terrible position she was in, with her father's abuse and the unfriendly guards (to put it mildly!). Blaze was very hot and cold with her and with his internal dialogue. It was difficult to tell if he truly cared for Davina, until much later. When he showed it, he was very caring with her and was more cinnamon roll than badass bodyguard.
I recommend this book if you like action-packed stories with plenty of spice, plenty of feminine rage, and second chances

BLAZING DESIRES was a fast-paced, spicy Dark Bodyguard Romance, perfect for Dark Romance beginners.
I liked the relationship between Blaze & Davina, the TENSION and chemistry was there🤌🏻and when the spice hits it was 🔥. I loved it everytime Blaze calls Davina " love" or other terms of endearments *swooning*. His protectiveness and morally grey tendencies were chef's kiss and Davina's character growth was amazing to see. Overall a great debut novel which i really enjoyed.

This was such an addictive and gripping read. I couldn’t put it down. From the get go I was drawn into the story of Davina and Blaze. Their chemistry together kept me tuning the page over and over.
His protectiveness was so hot, Touch her and Die wasn’t just the trope in the story it was the whole book and I was living it for it. I just wanted to wrap Davina up in a big hug and Blaze did that and more. They are so good together.
The tension the two characters had for each other was so hot I just knew the spicy scenes were going to burn. And burn they did, I was not left disappointed!
The plot with Davina’s Father and Blazes revenge was also so good. Hidden secrets and a betrayal, I couldn’t wait for it to all go down and I loved how it ended.

Sexy and fast paced! You couldn’t help but fall in love with the relationship between Blaze and Davina. Blaze’s possessiveness over Davina furthers the story and makes you wish you were her. The climax is nothing short of spectacular and heart wrenching. Definite must read for lovers of dark romance!

This book… was everything I love. It has nicknames?? And. Childhood trauma?? And guys… it’s a body guard romance. It’s giving Ana Huang but dark. There’s “touch her and die” and angst and I was OBSESSED. We love a MMC who falls first and that’s exactly what happened.
Blaze is everything you’d want. Honestly. No complaints here.

This was a fast, dark, intense read with an intriguing setup. A brutal past, a mysterious protector, and two characters who’ve been broken by the same man.
From the first chapter, when Davina is hurt, we know the stakes are high and her abuser is clear. But Blaze doesn’t know, and his obsession with destroying her slowly shifts into something tender and protective. That arc was strong.
Davina’s transformation from the naive girl she once was to a woman finally finding her voice is one of the highlights of the book. She’s conflicted with fear of swapping one cage for another, but Blaze’s presence becomes a source of strength. That dynamic worked for me.
Blaze himself? He’s magnetic. From the moment Davina describes him as "the most beautiful man" she’s ever seen with those green eyes I was hooked. He’s flirtatious and charming but also gentle, and that balance made their connection believable.
That said, I felt like we were robbed of more depth. The lack of background on how Blaze built his network, his rise to power, his full plan for revenge left gaps. The end felt rushed and some scenes (especially the confrontation with Davina’s abuser) were confusing or inconsistent with how the characters had been portrayed.
The smut? Decent. Some great praise kink moments. But again, I wish there had been more emotional build-up or detail to match the tension.
Ultimately, it was a quick read with strong bones, but I wish it had been developed into a longer, fully fleshed-out novel. This had the potential to be a five-star dark romance if it had gone deeper.

Blazing Desires is a bodyguard, dark romance that wow blew my socks off! The main characters were superb, and I absolutely adored both Blaze and Davina so much. Blaze is definitely a contender for top book boyfriend (I don't care what he originally had planned either)... he had me blushing and unlocking a kink I didn't know I'd like... and Davina, my poor sweet girl... my heart broke for her, but I was punching the air for her towards the end! And the twist holy smokes...

I devoured this book! Love Blaze and Davina! Her scene with her dad just WOW! Blazes love for Davina is godly! Loved the ending and we get the little extra bit I loveeeeee! 🫶🏽

Blazing Desires is a Dark Romance with the very exciting bonus of a Bodyguard. There are plenty of spicy scenes which I love, but equally the romance is just as beautiful.
I love the dynamic between Blaze and Davina - it definitely adds to the sexual tension which drips off of the page.
My ultimate favourite thing about this book is that each chapter has a title, not enough books do this!
I definitely recommend this book and look forward to reading more from J Andrady.
