The title is somewhat misleading. As someone with some grasp of a second language besides English (but not Spanish), I think that this workbook could be ideal supplementary learning for a adolescent in school who is seeking to supplant their instruction at school or prepare for class over the summer, and could be used with a tutor.
The book slowly progresses from one topic to another, beginning with a brief discussion of the language and then progressing to simple phrases. Many similar books jump right into pronunciation, grammar, verbs, etc., but this book slowly introduces each topic with several exercises. The book doesn’t discuss numbers or days/dates until its midpoint, partly because there are so many exercises along the way, as well as lists of vocabulary meant to be used with flash cards.
In particular, there are several practice exercises for pronunciation. Without a tape, you would probably have to rely on a tutor or the internet to get pronunciations. Fortunately, there is a code in the back of the book to download 15 minutes of audio pronunciation exercises. The code also unlocks a shorter, condensed version of the workbook as well as two Spanish-language short stories.
That said, this is a workbook, not a reference book. There are other books that are packed with grammar rules, verb conjugation lists, etc. This is not one of those books, and it instead has plenty of exercises presented in a format that is better for learning. Some of the most important irregular verbs are discussed but it is by no means an exhaustive list.
After the main book, there are 10 mini-chapters of exercises in the back of the book meant to reinforce the learning from the rest of the book with dice games, quizzes, fill-in-the-blank sentences, open-ended writing activities, and conversation roleplays for use with another person. After those mini-chapters are 25 Spanish-language word searches with answer keys.
In summary, this is definitely a workbook that is appropriate for a new learner, but it is not a reference book—there is a difference. You may want to get another book with tables of verb conjugations and grammatical rules to supplement this book.

Fantastic Resource for Beginners
If you're a complete beginner looking for a fun and interactive way to learn, then this book might be your ¡compañero perfecto! (perfect companion).
This book takes you on a gradual journey, starting with the alphabet and greetings, then building on your knowledge with each lesson. I loved that the lessons are packed with puzzles, flashcards, and practice sheets which make learning Spanish engaging and memorable. On top of everything you get access to audio lessons, essential phrases, a Spanish handbook, and even short stories! These extras are a fantastic resource for well-rounded learning.
Overall, this is a great resource for absolute beginners or those who want to brush up on the basics. The interactive activities and bonus materials make learning Spanish enjoyable. I highly recommend this book, but keep in mind it's a starting point for your Spanish language journey, ¡buena suerte! (good luck!)

Great way to learn Spanish
This book is well written and easy to understand. It starts out with the differences in languages from South America and Spain. Then it teaches you the alphabet. From there it moves on to keep teaching you with puzzles and activities. I recommend this book to anyone who wants to learn Spanish.

This is a useful book as it contains a lot of information for beginning learners and many tests along the way to reinforce learning. However it needs some serious proofreading/editing (Spanish verbs don’t always follow the noun they modify as stated in the book – one example) and it is far from complete as it only covers the present tense.

Great workbook for new Spanish learners
This is a great book for new Spanish speakers or to use as a refresher, like me. I took Spanish in HS and was pleased to see that I actually remembered quite a bit of it. This workbook covers many topics and situations you could use in real life, too.

It's fun
This is a great way to learn Spanish! Not only does it work but it is also fun! I love how it covers different activities so you can learn in different ways I especially loves the word searches!!!

Great tool.
This book has an excellent method to learn Spanish quickly and effectively. The alphabet and all the main words you would need to conversate in Spanish can be found in the pages of this book. It was a fun way to learn a new language. I highly recommend this book!
