Over 24 years, Peter Tan Chong Tze served as Principal of three Anglo-Chinese School (Junior), Anglo-Chinese School (Barker Road), and Queensway Secondary. Despite facing challenges, including losing his sight, he feels blessed to be a blessing, as expressed by 'Despite my challenges, including the loss of sight, I feel tremendously blessed to be a blessing.'
Lovely memoir full of stories of grace and redemption. Throughout his career, Mr Tan trusted and communicated. In public, he held himself to a standard of blameless honesty; in private, he prayed unceasingly despite deep doubts about his future given his onset of blindness. His voice squarely represents Singaporean Christians of his generation. These are the people in my community at home whom I have the most respect for. Sometimes I feel like I face an identity crisis almost every few weeks given my life’s influences mutually conflict. This is a good reminder about one set of those influences.
I started reading this book after attending a sharing by Mr Peter Tan for Children Ministry leaders. I couldn’t put it down and finished reading it in one sitting. It is amazing how God used the adversities in his life to shape the influence he had in the field of education and Father-son relationships in general. A wonderful testimony of God’s sovereignty and grace.
