With my enemy on the attack and her past coming to haunt her, our secrets come out in the most explosive way possible, threatening to rip Samantha away from me.
But my wildcat has another thing coming if she thinks I'll ever let go.

↬ as said in the pre-read the blurb spoke to me so I had to read it, when I tell you I was addicted to this book... I almost read it in one sitting but my eyes were to tired so I had to go to sleep 😭.
⋆˙⟡small summary ↬ I will say that if you cringe or get the ick while reading the blurb (which I can also totally undestand) you should definitely NOT read this because it's exactly that. Samantha has the worst boss ever, franco vitale, he is ordering her around like she is a nobody, with his crazy high expectations she is just meant to be fired in a week (samantha does not let this man walk over her obviously), but that is until bossman finds out she signed a contract at the adult club he runs. When a man breaks the rules during one of her sessions, he steps in, but he is a wearing a mask and talks at a lower and softer volume so she doesn't notice it's him, he becomes her comfort person to get over her fear of men. Then they both fall in love but how can franco ever reveal his true identity to her when she constately complains to her mystery man about her boss and how can she ever love a man who is not who he says to be? READ IT TO FIND OUT 😝
↬ At first I was a little bit skeptical about this book because most of the times I hate when the man has like two lifes and the woman does not know that he is both of those people if you understand what I mean, but michelle just did it the right way in this book idk how to explain but when franco finally releaved himself to sam she wasn't like 'yeah you lied to me but well I forgive you immediately' THAT IS NOT REALISTIC !! Thankfully michelle understood that, my girl sam got mad like she should've and franco had the obsessive, possessive, mafia man reaction we need, but not too much that is cringe. trust this book is good🤞
⋆˙⟡sam ⤿ criminal, lady gaga ↬ Both characters are AMAZING. I love them 😋😋. Sam has this boss bitch energy we need, she did not let bossman franco walk over her like she is a piece of trash but she could also be vulnerable to mystery man franco and just let her emotions out (her story made me want to cry not going to lie, I was sad asf.) But she is a cutie & baddie and I do think that franco is such a good match for her honestly, I think she does crave the danger(ous man)😉.
⋆˙⟡franco ⤿ unsteady, X Ambassadors & Erich Lee Do we like a two faced man? HELL NO, but honestly I can't talk much (gemini right here♊) BUT he redeemed himself because he told her, THANKFULLY SHE DID NOT FIND OUT AND NEEDED TO CONFRONT HIM, I hate that even more. He was an asshole during the times when he was playing bossman (I do love me an asshole man sometimes tho) BUT WHEN HE WAS MYSETRY MAN😩. He is a good listener, he knows what she needs, he does not cross the line (I KNOW THE BARE MINIMUM BUT WITH THESE DARK ROMANCE MEN YOU NEVER KNOW), and just... ON MY KNEES FOR HIM.
who said that? weird🤔
No but franco is just ARGHHHH, samantha can we share please? 😊.
⤿ I also definitely recommend this book if you want to get into dark romance, because it is a pretty soft dark romance if that is even a word 😭. I hope you understand what I mean, it is like you get introduced to the trope without seeing the heavy side of dark romance 😚
⪼ JULIA, you asked for the review so I (hope) deliver, love you bae

Yes I need to finish my current reads and stop starting new books but this just spoke to me, I WANT NO JUDGEEMNT OKAY?
Book info: - Workplace romance - Secret identity - Sexual assault (on page) - Violence, torture, murder - Abuse (mental, physical) - Panic attacks - Drugging - No cheating, opd - Non-virgin MCs - HFN - Bonus epilogue (5 yrs later, married with children)
Notes: - 3rd act breakup: they were still together, but she avoided him for weeks after the truth came out. - Celibacy: 1 year for Sam, and no info on Franco, but he said he cannot remember his last time. So maybe it has been years. - He owns an adult club but never partakes in anything. - The on-page assault was not that graphic, so I was able to read it. But it still hurts and makes me furious.
This book is soooo good, and I was surprised that I enjoyed it. I wasn't expecting much from this since I didn't enjoy the first book in the series, but man, was I surprised (in a good way!).
Samantha has been working for Franco's company for the past eight months, but she was just promoted to become his personal assistant and has been working for him for the past two weeks. With all of his demands and requirements, he made her work life a living hell. He was a cranky, snappy, and plain asshole to her. Samantha dislikes him a lot, but she eventually found a way to work with him because she wanted to prove herself, which she succeeded at.
Samantha, however, wants to move on from her traumatic experience, which has made her cautious around people. To begin the healing process, she joined a club that Franco owned. She simply wants to talk to someone, preferably a man, and has no desire for anything sexual. Her goal is to get over her anxiety about being alone with a man. However, the man she was paired with made a mistake, and Franco saved her. However, he is wearing a mask, so she is unable to identify him. She began to warm up to this mystery man for whatever reason, and she asked him to go to the club with her whenever she did. When she finally had enough of the club, she asked him to come to her apartment, and Franco was more than happy to do so. This pattern continued for the next month: during the day, he was her boss from hell, and during the night, he was her partner, friend, and protector.
The truth eventually comes to light because, of course, secrets cannot remain hidden forever. Samantha was hurt and upset about being deceived, and she finds it hard to accept that the man she has fallen in love with is also the one who has made her life at work miserable. I'm glad that she made him work hard to gain her trust and forgiveness.
Franco can't think clearly when it comes to Samantha, and he even considered kidnapping her when she avoided him for weeks following his deceit because he couldn't bear the thought of losing her. 😂 It seems he apologised to her for three weeks, but other than sending her flowers, nothing else was said during his grovelling.
She eventually gave him another chance and forgave him after realising his honesty and sincerity with all his efforts over the previous few weeks.
Samantha's resilience in carrying on with her life despite her experiences was something I found admirable. She has my utmost respect for having the strength to pull through something like that. I also appreciate her refusal to be a doormat and her ability to stand her ground against Franco. She gives as good as she gets and never backs down.
As for Franco, I really admire this man because of his kindness, patience, and protectiveness towards Samantha. He never pressured her to do something she didn't feel comfortable doing. He always puts her needs first and looks out for her safety. I also appreciate that he is honest with her after the truth comes out and never withholds his true feelings. It was really damn hot that the man was all over her, and he was very possessive and obsessed. Also, it was satisfying to see how he exacted revenge on the person who hurt her. He was far better than the MMC in book 1, and I really liked his character.
Anyway, while this is overall pleasing and enjoyable, for some reason, I did find certain scenes to be a little bothersome. Like the time they were attacked, she was probably very emotional. Franco showed up at her flat as her mystery man; one moment he was helping her calm down, and the next they were an official couple. Then, in the scene when she revealed what had happened to her, he lost self-control and chose to kiss her. I'm not sure what should happen in this situation, but in all honesty, I just expected him to be a shoulder to cry on. When she was attacked, she ran to him as her feelings were once again too strong, and she made the decision to forgive him. I sometimes get the impression that these decisions are driven more by adrenaline than by genuine feelings, as all of their important moments seem to occur when their emotions are running high. I know that's not the case, but sometimes I just can't help but wonder.
Overall, setting aside the things above. I had a great time reading this story, and it was enjoyable. Even though my review is already long, there are still a lot of good things I can say about this story. By the way, this is a slow burn; nothing significant happens to them until about the 70% point, but it was well worth it and kept things interesting. I was flipping through pages like a maniac because it was really that good. It's well worth the wait because when it burns, it burns extremely hot. All in all, this is so worth reading and recommending. ❤️

Book 2 in the new Michelle Heard's mafia series and we get to see Franco and his love interest/personal assistant.
Was it weird reading a mafia book with the FMC having my first name while I was wishing I was her? No lol
Samantha has gone through a lot in the past and tries to find a way to get past what has happened to her she takes measures into her own hands, but she has no idea that this leads her straight into Franco's world outside of the office.
I loved how Franco was with her and how gentle he took everything concerning her past. It was such an endearing thing to witness, especially since it was coming from one of the heads of the Cosa Nostra who is ruthless. Honestly he was a great mixture of scary mob boss and only sweet for her.
The secret identity situation was really fun because we got to see him be one person for her then the next morning be his asshole of a boss again.
❥ 𝑺𝒂𝒎𝒂𝒏𝒕𝒉𝒂 She was so sweet. Really liked her and enjoyed following her story. She had a bad past but fights for a better future.
❥ 𝑭𝒓𝒂𝒏𝒄𝒐 He was grumpy but so cute to Sam. Like the typical mafia boss he is protective and possessive but gives everything he has to his woman.
✥ 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒃𝒐𝒐𝒌 Definitely enjoyed reading - I read the whole story in one sitting. It was thrilling and entertaining. I absolutely adore Michelle Heards writing style and her world building - it’s perfect. It‘s so easy and fast to read that the pages just flew by and before you know better you finish the book. Each one of her books is just so good, she‘s a master at creating likeable characters you can get attached to. Samantha and Franco had great chemistry and I liked the way she didn‘t let him walk all over her. She can stand her ground against Franco and he accepts that. He truly cares for her and Sam found a way to trust her mystery man. Great lovestory. I am so happy we get three more books in this series. I think Michelle could write literally anything and I would read (and love) it!!
This was a good book. It started slow for me, so it took me a bit to get into it. I really liked Franco. He comes across exactly how I would expect a mafia man to come across.
Sam was ok for me. I got why she was hesitant with men and I understood that. But I didn't quite get the complete switch from I'm terrified to all of a sudden I'm the girlfriend to a masked man I've never seen. All because she feels 'comfortable'. That part I didn't buy into.
While there were some things I didn't like, the book still pulled me in.
i really liked this one, it felt a lott better than the last one, the plot was much more enhanced and deep, plus i lovedd the couple😭😮💨🫂🤌🏼
i have such a hugeee soft spot for books where one of the mcs helps the other get over their past trauma likeee omggg🥹🫠🫶🏼 andd the fact that i wasn’t expecting the plot by reading the blurb lol i loveeddd it 😭😭
boss x assistant❕ JP ml🤭 enemies-to-friends-to-lovers♟️ ml falls first and harder🛐 “touch her and die vibes”🦋🦋 hero willing to do anyyything for the fmls happiness🥹🫂 the fml’s healing journeyyy🩹
things i felt could’ve been better… it felt like the book was missing something, it started out amazing but somewhere in the middle lost its momentum for a while…
a wonderful example of the author delivering an absolute banger with the similar “enemies-to-lovers, healing the fml’s trauma, head over heels ml” tropes is Control Me — https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/6... its one of my absoluteee fav michelle heard books💗💗💗
safety no v/omd/owd/cheating sa, domestic violence, past trauma both the mcs only had eyes for each other🩹🤍
I love this series!! It's been a wild ride, and I'm up front. Please be warned there is rape on page. In this one, it's a flashback. Just be warned!!
Samantha had a horrible break up and a horrible experience, which has her running to a new city and new job. Which is hell, thanks to Franco, who is very grumpy boss and snaps at everything. Plus, he is a mafia leader, but she doesn't know that. Sam tries so hard to please Franco so they have at least a peaceful time in the office. She does snap back at him, so go, girl!!
He's also curious why she's at one of his clubs one night, and her request is wired to him, so he wants to keep a close eye on her. Her request is simple to talk to a man. He watches over her "dates" to make sure she's safe and trouble comes knocking, which has him stepping in all masked up, not revealing his identity. This brings the two close, more deeper connections at the club and more banter and annoyed at the office since Franco can't let her know it's him.
The relationship was tricky because he kept secerts, and when he told her things blew up a little, she was hurt. She trusted him with her secerts, and rightfully so she pushed away. But with danger around and someone from her past has her running to him. Plus the drama with the Mafia!!
Hehe, I can't wait for the next one.
Angst, no ow drama/om drama, no cheating, secondary character, drama, sexy times, no virgins

Vitale Health”.
“It feels like my soul becomes one with hers as the kiss becomes more passionate. She’s my twin flame, and together we create an inferno.”
This is the second book in the Kings of Mafia series and I loved it more than the first book. Samantha and Franco's chemistry is off the charts and I feel like their connection is deeper than the previous couple.
Samantha is working at Franco's company and she was recently promoted to Franco's personal assistant. Franco is grumpy and snappy, and he makes her work life a living hell to her so she hates him. Their banter was entertaining and I liked that she didn‘t let him walk all over her. Sam is also trying to overcome her trauma and she joins a club that Franco owns. Her goal is to overcome her anxiety about being alone with a man and want to have a normal relationship. Franco is curious when he sees her at his club and decides to keep an eye on her. When there is trouble with the man she is paired with, Franco saves her but he is wearing a mask so she doesn't recognize him.
From that day, Sam always meets with the mystery man, and day by day they become closer. Their connection is stronger and slowly they start to fall in love with each other. I loved how Franco is so protective and patient to her especially after he knows that she had a traumatic experience. He never pressured her to do something she didn't feel comfortable doing and always put her needs first. I love how he's honest with his feelings when he tells her the truth about his identity, as her boss and one of the mafia leaders. He gives her space but never stops convincing her that what they have is real.
Samantha's resilience in carrying on with her life despite her experiences was something I found admirable. She has my utmost respect for having the strength to pull through something like that. I also appreciate her refusal to be a doormat and her ability to stand her ground against Franco. She gives as good as she gets and never backs down. Samantha and Franco had great chemistry and I liked the way she didn‘t let him walk all over her. She can stand her ground against Franco and he accepts that. He truly cares for her and Sam found a way to trust her mystery man.
Overall, setting aside the things above. I had a great time reading this story, and it was enjoyable. this is a slow burn; nothing significant happens to them until about the 70% point, but it was well worth it and kept things interesting. I was flipping through pages like a maniac because it was really that good. It's well worth the wait because when it burns, it burns extremely hot.
Gah, I just love Ms. Heard's stories. The first in the Kings of Mafia (Angelo and Tori's story) was a good start but it wasn't "I LOVE THIS". I was still very excited to continue the series and ohh mannnnnn did I love Franco and Samantha. I loved Liam and Kiara's story (Owned by a Sinner) that was also a boss/employee trope so there was a similarity there, but that was the only aspect. With that said, perhaps I'm actually a huge fan of the whole boss/employee thing... having a revelation here...
Nevertheless, I loved how Franco helped Samantha through her problems with patience and kindness. Franco was amazing throughout the story (aside from being a grumpy boss) and so there's no concern there, but definitely check for potential TW as Samantha's past was pretty dark.
I'm very much looking forward to the next story in this series.
“i didn’t know there was a chunk of my soul missing until i met you.”
this book flew by, i started reading it, and when i came to, i was already 60% in and missing these characters. to the point where i didn't even notice this was a slow burn. i was just so into the story that everything made sense, it felt right. the mystery man aspect is probably one of my favorite plots out of all michelle heard's mafia books, and that's saying something. these books will never not make me miss the original families, but i fall in love with the five heads of the cosa nostra every time a new one of their stories comes out. it pains me to know there will be no spin-offs because the side characters in this series call to me; first tiny and big rick, and now miro and via.
* i was sent an arc by the author in exchange for a honest review
I liked this one quite a bit, despite it being a definite slow burn. That was due to the FMCs past, so it made sense for the plot. I liked how she didn’t just forgive his deception, but made him work for it. The premise was cute, if not a tad bit hokey, but it was definitely entertaining and worth reading.
I definitely think I have read some different book? Because I swear there was nothing happening in this book. One minute the hero was annoyed with her presence and the next chapter out of freaking nowhere he falls in love with our heroine. Like ssrly!????? Also the writing is very cringe. I was so bored out of my mind.
Uk what was the only good thing about this book? The dedication page at the start.
For her, I’d wage wars. For her, I’d kneel. It feels like my soul becomes one with hers as the kiss becomes more passionate. She’s my twin flame, and together we create an inferno.
we all know by now how much i love a good ole mafia romance🤭
this was a really quick and fast passed read and i loved the relationship between samantha and franco.
O simplemente no hacerlo.
The beginning had me hooked, but then it dragged and lost its spark. I liked the plot but the execution was terrible – seriously, a highschooler could've done better 😂. I thought about dnfing, but I needed to see what happened with Samantha and Franco.
As a mafia romance fan, this one was a letdown. No real action, and the "mafia" vibe was missing. Samantha and Franco's romance was super cringey. Every time Franco declared his love, I couldn't help but laugh, yawn, or roll my eyes. It felt like the author just threw words together without thinking. They seemed superficial or forced. And Franco calling her "baby"? Ick. It made me lose a brain cell each time. Their "strong connection" was ridiculous – they only knew each other for a few weeks and were suddenly in love. Yeah, right. And where was the chemistry? I've looked everywhere, and I still couldn't find it 😭. On the plus side, Franco was sweet and gentle, not the typical alpha male you'd expect in a mafia book.
oh this one was pretty good. I’d like Michelle Heards books because they’re pretty easy to follow and it’s pretty entertaining. This one was nothing like any other mafia books I have read which I really appreciated. This starts off by the being an assistant to the H. at this point, she hatessss her boss. But one day she goes to a club but doesn’t know that the H owns this club. She goes to the club to try to overcome her fear. But when she freaks out, her boss comes to her rescue, in a mask.🤭 so she confides in this masked man about her fears and panic attacks. And they start having a relationship but she doesn’t know the masked man is actually her boss. And what happens when she finds out her boss is actually a member of the mafia🫣
i liked this book because the H cared SO much for our broken heroine. our heroine went through so much and had such a traumatic past that when she confided in the H, he helped her through it all and cared so deeply for her. my favorite part about this book is when the H is about to reveal that the masked man she has been having a relationship with is actually her boss, he begs her to not leave him and to love him as much as he loves her🥲 like i am a suckerrrr for men begging and when the H literally loved her so much but had to reveal his true identity, he was praying that she would love him back and begged her not to leave him❤️
safety: no owd, no virgins, boss x assistant but the H is apart of the mafia, heroine’s rape recounted - omd: heroine’s traumatic rape by her ex bf, ex bf comes to kidnap her, H kills him💅
