A hundred nights, a hundred ghost stories. A troubled youth named Yuma begins the dangerous game of ‘A Hundred Ghost Stories’, where it’s said that a vengeful spirit will be summoned once a hundred ghoulish tales are told…
picked this up on a whim at the book store and omg! exactly my type of horror, with the unsettling intros and outros by the little boy? what a genius way of creating dread throughout the entire thing. some genuinely creepy tales in this, immediately going to read the second one 👀
This one was recommended to me, & I throughly enjoyed this! Great horror manga, that gave off Junji Ito vibes! Really well done eerie tales, with moments of humor! I was impressed with the writer, as I came to find out they were new to the horror genre!
Quite surprised by this. It was much darker than I thought it was gonna be. And the drawings were creepy af! Can’t wait to continue on and see what the next stories are.
It’s never too late, što bi se reklo!
Male horor relax sesije.
10 short ghost stories. It's definitely horror and it gets pretty dark. The art is a bit wonky, but I like it, it really works for this genre. This is PTSD Radio light I would say. 3.5 stars.
I need the rest of the volumes!!! Enjoyed the short stories & yep some were really creepy esp if you think it would happen in real life. Also love the artwork.
Easily binged six volumes in a day. The story immediately grabs you and keeps you interested the whole way through. The format of a different short story each chapter is great for those who use TikTok. The longer main story in the background is a mystery that also makes you want to keep reading to find out what is going on with that plot line. Any libraries that get this get the whole set bc readers are going to want it all at once.
Anji Matono does a great job as a horror writer, specially considering he used to write comedy.
Pleasingly surprised by how spooky and satisfying are these stories, even though they are all pretty short. Some tenuous Junji Ito vibes, the art really matches the narrative.
I just love kumcer so much especially horror. It took us to see how our mc, yuuma, a lil boy start telling us about the ghost stories (which he plan to tell till it reachs 100). Im so sorry for what happened to him, but in the near end where he could sacrifice hina I swear I wouldnt forgive him 😭 (though he made the right choice). Papa den mama tirinya t papa mati sih mmng dakjal semua. Overall its 4/5⭐ karena sy merasa charanya yuuma ini cerita hantunya kadang terlalu dewasa I mean klo dia remaja masih bisa kita bicarakan ini dia literally anak sd 😭.

"100 Ghost Stories That Will Lead to My Own Death Vol. 1" by Anji Matono is an innovative horror manga!!! The illustrations are extremely scary and one-of-a-kind!!! I love how each ghost story is unique and that they stand alone from one another. I'm curious what volume two will be like! I will warn that the content of this manga is dark and disturbing so if you're not interested in reading a dark collection of horror themed stories I would skip this manga. This manga gives off Junji Ito vibes, but trust me it's completely in its own league! Some triggers warnings to consider if you do choose to read this manga are: suicide, murder, depression, and graphic violence to name a few of the big ones. Overall if you enjoy horror and like manga, this is for sure worth a read!!! Be warned that it is extremely dark and creepy!!! It's a perfect scary Halloween read!!!
DNFed. Read the first 4 stories. I like horror manga, but sadly couldn’t get into this one. Maybe it’s because I read horror mainly whether their novels or manga so this felt a bit on the younger side for me. Sure there’s gore and some eerie moments, but eh. Unfortunately I bought volumes 1 and 2 and don’t think I’ll even bother with the next volume. I think it also didn’t help in my case that there was 10 stories and to have that many in one small volume, they are very short. So by the time you get what’s supposed to be the shocking part, it’s over. I think others that like horror manga could like this, but maybe not if you prefer more depth to each story perhaps
Was skeptical about this because I'm not a fan of the art style but I shouldn't have judged because these stories ended up being so solid and entertaining! And the concept of the boy telling these stories to a camera in his room is really intriguing, I'm super interested to see where that leads to. Definitely for fans of Junji Ito btw!
The Companion - 2/5 Lost Objects - 3/5 Clayman - 1/5 Special Delivery - 4.5/5 The Call of the Water - 4/5 Life Line - 5/5 The Hand-off Guy - 5/5 Fight - 4.5/5 The Other Side - 5/5 Snails - 5/5 (absolute nightmare fuel!!!)
I love horror short stories and in a manga format like this, it's effective to give you a little spook then move on to the next one. Given this first volume only had 10 stories, I'm guessing there will be about 10 of these, and I'm here for it!
I'll take any and all the horror manga as I've pretty much read all the Junji Ito out there. Some of the artwork in this reminded me of PTSD Radio, another favorite of mine. Looking forward to checking out more!
I'll be checking out the second volume. It doesn't quite hit as hard as it should (though I bet it will grow on me) considering the obvious skill that went into it. It very much reminds me of Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark. Structurally simple, and quick even if they weren't in Manga form. But scarring, with instantly iconic imagery. I feel like I should be a bit too old for these stories to stick to me, but I think they will.
I enjoyed this one. A little boy tells us a ghost story every day. Through the small snippets we get of the narrator's home life before and after his tales we get a sense of his home life. Will definitely continue on.
This manga was okay. Nothing super special about it. None of the stories really stood out other than the ear one since I currently have an ear infection lol. I’m pretty picky when it comes to the artistry & this one could have been better but it wasn’t terrible by any means.
10/10 really excited to get the next volume. It’s a really interesting concept and lowk I’m curious what’s wrong with the kid. Since at the beginning he wanted to khs and idk I wonder if his parents are bad people????? Unless I’m fried 🥹
